  • "Liz Warren is an idiot."

Care to expound that incredibly ignorant statement?

Re: Her comments about the factory owner using roads that "we" paid for.

Well, Mr. Factory owner helps pay for them too, just like he helps pay for the Fire and Police departments. And, in places like Toronto, and elsewhere, they pay more than homeowners do. Alternatively, Mr. Factory owner might have been lured to Ms. Warren's town by the promise of tax breaks specifically so that her constituents would benefit from the jobs that Mr. Factory owner was able to provide. And as for those roving bands of marauders, don't most large corporations hire private security firms to augment the local police force?

    Like I said, an idiot.

    Happy?

Well she dumbed down the argument for a group of old farts and you still missed it completely so no. Dumbing the socio-economic argument down to Sharing wealth = socialism = Hitler like the Repugnantcins do would suit you better I'm sure.

Funny I spent hours with Darbdays semi-coherent pixie dust idealism today, but I'd take a debate with it for many more hours before wasting my time with belligerent fuckheadedness like yours.

We've got Hitler ladies and gentlemen.

    This concludes the discussion.

That group of "old farts" likely went through the Great Depression, or at least their parents did. So they probably could give Warren a lesson in econ101. Her first comments about Bush's wars, Obamacare, etc. were spot on, but then she lost the plot by, to use your words, "dumbing it down". It is not belligerent to call a spade a spade.

And, once again, Libertarian does NOT equate to Republican (if that was what you were going for). So, according to Godwin, you lose . . .

On the bright side, have some pixie dust.

    you want my solution....to the problems....that we haven't outlined...and we haven't admitted exist...as a race...

    i don't give that...i don't have it.....

    you keep asking me...

then say im avoiding the question...

and that im going in circles about it.....

but you keep asking me...a question about a problem i have no intention of giving a solution to...and we haven't defined...and we haven't admitted....
Aren't you just complaining for the sake of complaining? You freely admit you don't even know what the issues are that you're complaining about.

Yes. Everyone knows there are poor and abused people in the world. This has and always will be a problem. So do something about it if you feel strongly about it. Go volunteer overseas. Go donate money. Squatting on public property squandering taxpayer dollars isn't helping anybody. Not to mention, I actually think it's the lazy way out. "Instead of doing something productive with my time, I'm just going chill in my tent here until other people decide to donate their money and do things for me."

This is all assuming that global social support is what this movement is about. I'm still not convinced that's what the majority of the people who believe in this OWS movement are protesting.

You know Darb, you would make a good politician, say a lot of words but really don't get to the point.. Perhaps your missed calling?

Is this really your idea of one big level? If so, congrats on fooling a lot of us..

I disagree. To be a good politician, you have to be elected first and to be elected, you need to convince people you have some semblance of a plan or platform. The talking in circles and avoidance of issues comes afterward.

no see...this is how people think...they go straight to it....lets slow down....stretch this out....make sure nothing is missed....we haven't define these problems....we haven't even admitted as a race that they exist......that comes first....

don't ask what we need to do....wait for the world to admit it together....trust me...we'll figure it out from there...

What problems? Poverty. Access to medical care, clean water, food, homes. Abolishment of child sex trade. EVERYONE knows these are global issues and they HAVE been defined as problems. There are organizations and people that are working here and overseas to positively change things, not just wasting peoples' time, money and energy. I don't really get why you keep saying that these are issues that no one's considered until people decided to camp out in tents a couple months ago.

  • Abolishment of child sex trade.
these things you mentioned are not recognized around the world...and no...we don`t have global human rights...

i understand you don`t think anything can come of it.....but i don`t understand why you would oppose it...

i understand why you don`t want tents in your park...but are you really upset that there are tents in parks all around the world?

  • Doesn't anybody have a book of riddles or unsolved math problems we can unleash this energy on, perhaps a lay mans guide to triple range merging, dumbed down to poor grammar and punctuation so I get it?

We Should have saved this thread in time for nanowrimo, pretty sure it would have made the cut and the count.

And again, as much as I know this is supposed to be a "serious" debate, I still think many of you are missing your true calling of satirical slapstick comedians or script writers.

The office might see ten more seasons and korrel would never be out of work, or in this case koresh...you pick

Are you still claiming that the Arab spring et al is the same as this foolish occupy movement? IMO it's doing a real disservice to those poor folks who do light themselves on fire in protest over their dire living conditions.
When one of these iPad carrying, go home to daddy, my degree doesn't get me a 6 figure income hippies lights himself on fire on the steps of parliament, perhaps then I'll take notice.. Until then Darb, you are the only one standing up for the oppressed of the world.

this is how you would like it to be...

are you suggesting that each protester is solely thinking of their own personal situation and not thinking about any of the other protesters around the world?
  • heres a good video for more flaming....what ever you do don't talk about the quote from the creator of this movement, how he says this is not about US or Canada is about Systematic change in the entire world. Also continue to flame me but lets forget about the parts where they say this movement was based on movements from the Arab spring. Also lets not talk about how this entire movement will be marching on behalf of a protester who died in the Arab spring movement...

Right now in the middle east cities are protesting their governments, stemming from a stand-in, they demand change and total government reform.....the same is going on in every city in the world (not literally)....and every city in the world supports each other...

I've been asked time and time again to cite and give evidence that supports the fact the occupy movement and Arab spring stand before their government's and the economic system and say we demand change now....and they support every other movement that demands change....

Nonononono. We need a change from higher up.

  • Fucking vote.
yup just ask the US and bush's election winning 'recount'
  • Yes, an election in which there was a recount, following laws in place for such an event, debated in the supreme court, all under media scrutiny was obviously a failure of the system, and His Majesty George W. Bush is still in power in the US with an authoritarian grasp on the population. All bow to his will. Anyone who defies his will is sent to the Gulag in Alaska.

Wait, did he get voted out? Really? Funny how that works.
  • Wait, did he get voted out? Really? Funny how that works.

No he didn't. Term limit tho. :D
  • Oh, there were already measures in place to avoid such things? Really? Funny how that works in a free society.
