No, you can't play from anywhere in the U.S. Using a VPN to bypass that is against our TOS and puts your account and balance at risk. I'd highly advise against it!

When I have been in Niagara Falls Canada I have been denied access to Pokerstars because for some reason it thinks I am in the US. Is there anyway around this through contacting customer service?

I have heard of similar problems from players near the U.S. border reporting that the internet is being routed through a U.S. IP. This seems to be more common in hotel provided internet. As far as I know, there is no workaround to this. If you're booking a hotel for vacation on the Canadian side, you could check with the hotel to see where their IP is based before booking.
Closed the client to check for you, and its taking a while to "download files" its stuck at around 15%. I think its from their side.
Did this get sorted out? For time-sensitive stuff like this I'd recommend sending a quick email to Support as they will be aware of any issues we're having.

according to the "i made a final table" thread (aka the "t8 thread") he got it working.
Props to PS for distributing confiscated winnings back to players. Another site has more cheating going on, but none of us regs ever got any refunds and we think the site improperly keeps the players' prize pool for itself.
To "PokerStars VIP", will there be any hospitality included for satellite winners to the PokerStars Montreal Festival? All the PokerStars qualifiers to the Canada Cup that I talked to were disappointed that there seemed to be no PokerStars representative to welcome them or offer them anything at all. I don't think you'll get 1,000 players to meet the guarantee unless improvements are made from Canada Cup with the $266,000 overlay.
At all the WPT events at Playground, I think lynx5, jontm, T8yourmoney, etc. will agree that we were treated like VIPs. Even the non-qualifiers got T-shirts, card protector, and other stuff to promote the poker site. lynx5 and I can't wait for the return of the Royal Flush Girls, PartyPoker models >:D at WPT Montreal in November, so we'll be grinding the online satellites for that.

Yup WPT Montreal was a treat with free massage's, alcoholic drinks, lounge area, giveaway's, events .
With the amount of amount Pokerstars makes over Party Poker you'd think the treatment would be much better and not far worse.
I heard that PSCC satellite winners got absoutely nothing and thats why I didnt even bother playing for a seat-only .
Hope its different with the Montreal Festival but it sounds like again, seat-only type of deal. so except to pay $1K for hotel+gas+food and get no VIP treatment whatsoever. unless Im wrong?
In which case you can correct me, and I will start playing satellite's immediately.
FYI for anyone on the fence whether or not to attend the VIP Club Live party in Montreal on July 19. Players who purchase a ticket AND attend will be given a ticket to play in a private freeroll at Playground Poker Club on August 28. The prizepool will be 10 PokerStars Montreal Festival $1,100 Main Event seats. The Freeroll is exclusive to only these players, so I expect it to be a small field with incredible value. The PokerStars Montreal Festival Main Event begins August 29.
Let me know if you have any questions, and I hope to see a few of you PFC'ers at the party. Jonathan Duhamel and Marc-Andre Ladouceur will be there representing Team PokerStars, and we have a full line-up of entertainment, food, and of course an open bar.
Have passed the feedback on. I understand it's not an insignificant amount of travel and expense coming from across the country. Canada is a big place.

Even coming from Toronto, Ontario its not enough.
I grind mostly just satellite's for a couple years now and I'll be skipping this one myself, such a shame. I would love too play it as a seat+hotel+travel though.

FYI, Hampton Inn and many of the Hilton Hotel affiliates in the Ottawa region have this problem. Their Internet is routed from Texas so no way to log onto PStars.
I can confirm that due to unforeseen circumstances, PokerStars will not be continuing its participation in the upcoming festival. The tournament will continue as planned as the "Playground Festival of Poker" and we will be honoring our previous commitment to players and satellite winners. No other PokerStars services in Canada are affected.
For those that bought a ticket and attended the VIP Club Live party in Montreal, the private satellite for those players will still be held as scheduled.

I am not a pleased ivey right now.

Wish they would tell you the screen-names involved though.

I'll pass this feedback on to the Canada Cup organizers and will let you know if anything new is planned for the Montreal Festival.
As always, appreciate you guys providing feedback.

Please request at least a once / week Satty that includes hotel + $500 travel $.
I would play this weekly, as would many from Western Cda....otherwise I'll not be playing any satties for this event.
