It was a good heads up. Coolered on last hand. The final hand 90% that's a chop. In your spot I would have just called the turn because I shove the river and then you can make a better decision with more information. If you are ahead on the turn then you are way ahead and trying to raise me adds little value.
@thisORthat Are you accusing someone of softplaying and checking down a hand with another player all in? or were you discussing it during tonight's game?
Yes he was subtly discussing it after he was out. I believe it was a hand when Petezky was all in for a small amount and both I and Glenn called and checked to the river because neither of us improved. Glen had 88 and I had AJ flop was K,Q, xxx as I recall. Very standard tournament play. I leave it to others to decide if anything should be done..
Just my opinion but if we are talking about poker etiquette it's really not polite to accuse or even hint that a players play is unethical to a whole room with no proof! So either have proof and show it or what's the point of saying anything. If you feel you have evidence @thisORthat then say something please!
For all anyone knows I could back @compuease every tournament game 50% and he backs me 50% and we softplay each other till we get to the money to guarantee a greater winning. With no proof it's all just accusations, also welcome to poker! it's impossible to prove some of this stuff unless you can see everyone's hole cards and even then look at the Mike Postal investigation where they have solid proof he was cheating, nothing was done!
I cannot fathom that anyone would think Glen or Comp would ever collude in a $ 500 buy in let alone a $ 5 buy in. Petesky I only left you out because I do not know you but I would guess you are also a decent human being.
Henry, if you were not joking may I suggest saving up your $5 buy ins and invest in some counselling or in a decent tin foil hat to stop the Extra Terrestrials from sending you secret messages. But I am pretty sure you were joking.
As you all know I almost always have a good read on people. Like when I shove all in against D.J. When he has quads. 😳
There is a scenario like this in one of Phil Gordon's "Little <colour> book" series.
There is a differnece between, for instance, being on the bubble (or, as in the Phil Gordon series, a spot where the next player out does NOT get a ticket to a bigger tourney in a satellite), with the short stack all in and 2 other players still live. If live player A looks at live player B and says "Let's check it down so we maximize our chances of making money and taking this guy out". That's illegal. However, from a strategy standpoint, unless you flop the immortal nuts, most savvy tourney players know that this maximizes your EV.
If they were to, say in a live game, have the same scenario occur and live player A is first to act and checks dark every street, that is still fine. If live player B puts out a bet, player A has the options as normal. They cannot call and say like "WTF ARE YOU DOING" or anything like that. Most players understand this.
I'd argue that in a way, it isn't very different from decisions at the table being made using ICM model.
If this was a question, hope that clears it up.

Glenn will tell you when I did the same thing to him, ie shove into his quads A's and then wonder why he didn't fold??? That was live... lol
Summary: I don't think any of us would collude, we are too busy trying to destroy each other... Petesky has also played with us live many times before he moved to the North Pole to hustle Santa Claus (or was that Mrs Claus?). Very standard play when neither Glenn or I made a big hand.. He had 8's with 2 overs and I had AJ which didn't hit, why would either of us bet. No idea what Petesky had, I would guess a smaller pair or a weak A???
So Henry if you don't want to play with us and learn then let me know and I will send you your balance. Oh wait.......
@thisORthat Are you accusing someone of softplaying and checking down a hand with another player all in? or were you discussing it during tonight's game?
I didn't accuse anybody of anything. Merely shared a screenshot of high-lighted text from Robert's Rules that I just so happened to be reading over that night. Guess I should've created a new thread elsewhere...

Could you recommend a poker therapist. I thinking I'm suffering from "Post-flop Traumatic Disorder".
Having been accused of colluding and soft playing with DJ in these games a few times, I will say that there is not a chance in hell that I would do either - first off, I want to take him out of the game more than anyone else..........also it's $5.......which clearly, from all the money I have been losing doesn't really matter to me
I believe that it's fairly standard to check it down in the scenario referenced......
I’m Just wondering if that post was just to break balls and waste time ( just like how ToT does during the games....zing!). The kids call it leveling. But I agree on the passive aggressive attitude and time wasting.
Can't we all just be friends.... I will take a Biden pose here... Let's just bring us all together, well not Pimp, he doesn't call my psychic hotline any more, so severely cuts into my revenue... Which I use to fund my poker habit. (As well as hookers and blow)
You have clearly never played in a real tournament... Have a close look at your last point...
Sorry for stirring the pot. Clearly I'm just a "shit reg" looking for excuses for continual losses... I should prolly take a break from poker for a month. Study more and talk shit less... I forget the exact quote from The Mental Game of Poker but something to the effect that tilt can accumulative build up to the point where even losing one hand can make players go tilt.
I used to find Hellmouth's cynical rants hilarious. Now I'm unwitting acting just as childish as him. Seeing other poker players like DNegs going ape-shit tilt doesn't help --- following the monkey see monkey do philosophy. Not that I'm anywhere near those poker greats' level . . .
I'll take a break from Home Games for a month --- and try to return with a more positive less passive-aggressive attitude.
Your choice but certainly up to you. It sure doesn't bother me.. I've seen it all. Even watched my buddy Adam get scammed by that female under the apple tree.

Sorry Comp. I will start calling again so can fund your poker and blow hookers. 💰😳

I am assuming he was trying to be funny.

Ah shit, those are my issues. Now I am projecting.
I haven’t been quite right in the head since the psychic friends hotline stopped taking my calls.
My bad.
🤪
Gottcha -- I work on being agressive-agressive !!!
