  • Hey guys,

I have a question about the $2500 main event and the super-satellite for the $5k super-satellite. The main event is on Feb 10-11 and the $5k SS starts on Feb 11th at 3pm.

Is there going to be overlap between those tournaments, or do they expect that the main event will be done by 3pm? Another question - will I be able to buy into the $5k main event on short notice if I do well in the $2500 main event (and bust out of the $5k SS)? Or do you have to register and pay for the $5k ME in advance to be eligible?
    Thanks
  • does anyone know if you can buy into the supersats in advance?
  • The SS and the previous tourney will overlap. Doubtful the 5k will sellout, so you should be able to buyin the day of.

Yes you can buy into the supersats in advance.

How much of a premium are you paying?
would pay up to 1200.00 or so
  • Thanks actyper. Is it common for people to buy into both the ME and overlapping SS? Do people sit out of the start of the SS if they are still in the ME, or possibly sell the voucher off?
  • Going rate will be around 1300.00 and then 1500-1700 day of the tourney

why am I playing the stock market when I can make a 20% + return each year by buying $1k event vouchers?? Note for 2013!

  • I'd love to hear Fallsview's reasoning in allowing one player to purchase more than one entry.
  • here is another sat option for the $1k, assuming he has already bought the vouchers:

anyone know the particulars for the supersats....are they as poorly designed as the regular sats? Anyone know starting stacks/blinds?
  • what are the odds that the 2.5k will sell out before the 15th? I'm kinda mad I didn't reg for the 1k before I left for PCA, I knew it sold out last year but didn't think it would be so early.
  • Also if someone wants to sell me a 1k seat they have if they have extra I'd be willing to give a small freeroll on my action for it. It won't be anything absurd and if you can get 1500 for it then by all means do it but a freeroll could be worth much more than 1500 in such a soft tourney obv.
  • Last thing, just to double check there's no sats for the 1k now that it's sold out either?

Sorry no idea but I would personally sell off the ss if I made day 2. Depending on stack size of course

Excellent structure, maybe even too long. The sat for r the 2.5k ended around 1am last year
  • Anyone interested in splitting a room for 8/9 and maybe 10 (depending if I play $2.5K)?

That's crazy. Add in the rake and only about half of their $$$'s are going to the prize pool.
Lots of crazy live players. Just like ryanghall, ReefAquarium, etc. regularly exploit dumb players on the table, there will be many dumb players whose EV for the event is well below $1K but will willingly pay $1,500+. :fish: That's what makes poker so profitable for smart sharks.
  • I heard that satellites for the $1k will resume on February 2nd. Anyone know if this is true?
  • btw, if anyone wants to play in a $1k event near the GTA soon, there is a $1k tournament at Brantford also in Feb, only 100 players (from the OLG site):

*shrugs* . . . we just want them sold.
  • Anybody want to sell a ticket to a broke student in the $1100 range, willing to give up 5-10% of action as well.

Do you really think it wouldn't sell-out if they sold 1 seat per person? Once again, Fallsview is doing the polar opposite of creating a solid poker community in Ontario.

Man, I remember the days of being a broke student playing 1k tourneys...good times.
  • Ok I'm a grown ass man that's back in school and 1k is nothing to sneeze at but I feel like I have a decent shot in this one. Let's say that I can't afford to pay too much juice on this one but would be willing to work out some sort of staking deal with no markup and I can show a couple of cashes in Vegas tournaments and small online scores.

Phoned room to confirm, 1k is sold out, so doubt there will be anymore sats.

I would like to know if there any other venues, that others know of, that would sell one player 4 seats without at least taking down names for other 3 seats?

Can't be that good with no $1k cashes...did u factor this into your bb/hr?

Lots of people buy extras so that they can run satelittes good for the people to get in at a cheaper price and don't need to head down to Niagara. For the people who scalp the tickets don't buy and they get stuck with them. Why buy for a $500-$600 markup just play the $2500 tournament instead.

I wish you better luck than I've had with this approach (0/5 by my count)

Offered coaching to the guys with extras with the 'looking for a coach' undertitle, no response yet.

I followed to the very smart advice to make your CC a credit balance and waited for my overpayment to show up on my statement. Wasnt worried due to 2p2 posts saying tix were still onsale, and I literally called ONE day late. Lifetilted about it right meow

Because people are incredibly stupid. This goes double for the delusional pokerplayers who think they are profitable in the first place, let alone paying 1.5x buyin
  • Truly IMO the 1K has no value anyways, it is a crap shoot and really you are better off playing the 2.5K. For most who were looking to play the 1K as a "shot" you are betting off grinding an extra 1500 and playing the 2500. Better structure etc.

Alternatively you can also play the 1K at blue heron at the end of the month as well as the 1500 at Seneca the following weekend that has a superior structure but the 30% withholding.

Even flying out to vegas and spending 500-600 then playing a 2-3day venetian deepstack or Caesars WSOPC has better value especially if you are smashing tournies for 30-40K a month like some of the posters in this thread.

Is this because paying for the Fallsview tournament entry is considered a gambling transaction by your credit card company and charges you as a cash advance? All the tournament entries I paid for with a credit card at Brantford, Point Edward and Great Blue Heron casinos were all treated as normal purchases with no fees.
