  • On seeing this angle , i agree that he reached out and grabbed the foot. this would have been interference even last year.
  • The twitter link angle is even better but I couldn't embed it. Just another bush league play by Bautista, with post game bs.

    Orly?

That view does look like he caught him. I stand corrected. One thing to consider regarding his throw, is that a few batters earlier he bobbled the lead off ground ball to him. I'm sure he was nervous turning this double play since the bases were loaded. I don't believe Jose made him throw the ball away but rules are rules.
  • Caught taking PEDs! Looks like it was testosterone. Sportsnet is reporting that he was told he tested positive March 17! WTF why would the Jays play him until now???

Hopefully Smoak can hit better with regular playing time.

How can so many think they can get away with it? Smoak can not possibly be worse, Colabello is hitting .069.
  • Colabello's MLB playing days are over. It appears that he did not have to tell the Jays until today.

Man he must of been on the anti-drugs as his performance was anything but enhanced!

I guess I can wish that there are some honest non cheating players out there but that seems more unlikely every day.
  • Saw a comment on Twitter that they should give the rest of the order the OPPOSITE of whatever he popped for. doubt they miss him. Guess the desire to stay in the bigs now that he had finally made it was probably the motivation.
  • Apparently he took 4/20 day too seriously.
  • Man even CC's player response and the club response sound like they were cut and pasted from the last guy that got caught!
  • Good to see that losing CC had little effect on their play.
  • On the brighter side, the Jays are back to .500

LOL at picking up the option for Dickey. Surprised so far Bautista is staying and glad they did the option for EE.

Still LOLDickey. So they offered EE and Jose offers less then what both are looking for. Management=awesome. Even though I don't like Jose's attitude.
  • This is the last year Jose plays in the field. He can no longer throw. We don't need two DH's.

You go to your boss and ask for a crazy raise. Let me know how that works out.

Not sure if you are aware but Dickeys stats (as per fan graph) have been significantly worse in April than the rest of the year for a number of years. Not sure if he will get better this year but we have to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.. We don't have anyone to replace him at the moment.
  • Yeah LOLDickey! I want more for my 12M than having to suffer thru crap performance for April and May in the hopes that he gets better the rest of the year.

You are right comp that they don't have better options right now so I guess we are stuck hoping Dickey turns it around soon!
  • Ok I got a good discussion going on facebook so I will report here with my latest feelings on suspensions.

Gibby 5, since he was suspended last year for the same thing
chavez 4, since stroman got 5 and sanchez 3 previously
donaldson, bautista, pillar fines, though likely bautista gets 2 and pillar and donaldson might get a game each
David fucking Bush, fines, though at least 2 games would be nice
douchebag Odor, 10, though more than 10 will be a record breaking suspension

Why did Donaldson get ejected but not Pillar?

    Douchebag Odor, video evidence:

  • We already knew they were a bush league bunch of sookies . . .
  • So . . . are the Jays starting to remind anyone of last season yet?

Did we really just trade one of the top 1b/dh this season for a 31 year old part time sp with a career era of 4.23?

    WTF?

Just heard same report, but still unconfirmed as far as I know. If it is true it's a colossal blunder. The Jays have always undervalued him IMO.

Estrada has killer stuff but he's gonna get rocked in the dome. No thanks

Lets see, player who leads AL in hitting against RHP, traded for a pitcher who doesn't have to face a DH, but who leads NL in homers allowed in only 150 IP, and gets to pitch next year in the homerdome.

    Makes sense tho...

    Ok about that...Anthopolous robber baron?
  • MLB All Star Game . . . Canadian Anthem

    WHAT . . . DA . . . FUCK?!?
  • Anybody else get the feeling this team is about to take a hard left right into the toilet?

Hitting and bullpen still inconsistent, and starting pitching starting to look tired and mediocre.

Other teams are coming on and we're starting to wane. At this point, I could see them not even making the wild card. Wonder what the vegas odds would be on that?
  • Meaningful games in Sept. Why the need for negativity? Were you away the last 20 years?

If only poker was a 4 card board game with no river. Is that what you are saying?

There are 4 teams in the American League with a winning road record. We are one of them. Winning on the road is tough. Going into the last road trip we had the best road record. Boo hoo we lost some games on the road.

    Variance.

I have not been a big Gibby supporter over the years. Having said that, I think this has been his best year as a manager and it's not even close.

I will attribute the last week of ball to being hangover from the "Dog days of Summer". Maybe they looked passed the Yankees with Boston coming in this weekend, that is natural. This is a group of guys that prepares well and when the rosters expanded, lots of new pitchers and the Jays struggle. Its a fact. It is these times I wish the Jays new how to play small ball. For example, Smoak didn't need to hit a grand slam the other day. I single would have given us the lead.

Travis is forgetting how to play defense with all the errors he's made of late.

Just relax, if they get swept by the Bo Sox, then we have something to worry about.

I have other thoughts, but dinner is ready.

  • Last year was a fluke. No team wins at a .750 clip for almost half a season, none. We were spoiled by a juggernaut last year with SEVERAL players having a career year.

Right now is how it is supposed to be. Win 6 of 10 over the course of the season and you win your division, simple. Will there be 16 of 20 win streaks, yes, will there be 8 of 20 losing streaks, of course. That's the nature of baseball.

Enjoy September, its going to be fun to watch.
  • Some people believe.

I just sold a pair of World Series game 2 tickets sec 535 for $650 USD on stubhub. :D

Now I am really hoping they make it.
  • Nothing like having skin in the game, eh Rob?

vs the Cubs - What would a pair to game 7 field level be worth to a Cubs fan? The retail for 405.00 Canadian.
  • Negativity is not the same as realism, and realistically there are some bad signs right now.

Starting pitching has been performing above their pay grade all season till recently and is now starting to regress to the mean.

Hitting has been underperforming most of the season, especially with runners in scoring position in close games, and is not showing signs of regressing to the mean.

We have one blue-chip reliever, 3 guys over-acheiving their career stats, and the rest is a dog's breakfast.

Finally, they just look like they're out of gas.

To me, realistically, it all adds up to a poor finish.

I get that teams don't play .700 ball for long stretches, but this is a team that's been playing around .600 for quite a while with no real slumps or hot streaks, which to me was a really good sign of a solid team. But once you hit a slump like this with so few games remaining, it's not realistic to expect they'll rip off a big run with the schedule they have left.

I can hope, but I cannot believe.
