The Jays finally got a complete game from one of their starters. However, their bats didn't make it though customs. Go get'em Happ. A split is a reasonable expectation here!
After a great game by Sanchez, the offence and defense let Marco down today and we are into the off season. It looks like Gibbons will be back which is unfortunate. I do believe this team will not win with him at helm.
Nice year Blue Jays! Final 4 is pretty good however it does feel pretty hollow.
The Cleveland Indians outplayed the Jays in this series and out homered the Jays to win some close games. Brilliant trade to get Andrew Miller at the trade deadline! Too bad the Jays didn't have the prospects to land him in July!
Good luck to Cleveland in the World Series! Should be exciting against the Cubs or Dodgers.
We shall see what the Jays do in the off season to improve as there are definitely areas needing improvement but it is too soon to speculate. Maybe in November we can start

Thank you! Fire Gibby, Get rid of Bautista and Dickey and hope they can pick up some decent returns with that money, Really wish and hope they resign Edwin but don't think that will happen as I think he has already made his mind up.
Not sure how getting to the ALCS two years in a row means fire the manager. Hell, just making the playoffs 2 years in a row is huge in baseball. If you're looking for a reason why the Jays have not advanced further than the ALCS, then the "blame" lies with the architect.
The Jays are a one-dimensional offensive team that, for the most part, can't or won't adapt when they face the better pitching staffs that know how to pitch to them or when they have to play in a pitcher's park and their home run swings end up in long fly outs. I'm looking forward to seeing what the GM does in the offseason in that department.
Now if you think Gibby is part of that philosophy or don't like his style of managing, that's a matter of preference, but you can't put this series on him when his best hitters let him down. Also, the Jays didn't exactly catch any breaks in this series.
Cause the manager is useless and he has been pretty much all year, Not blaming him for the series and of course 2 years in a row getting to the playoffs is great. Obv nothing wrong with our starting pitching this series as they were solid and it was the hitter's so really feel the hitting coach is the one to blame or going to get blamed.
Of Saunders, Bautista, and Encarnacion, re-signing EE has GOT to be the priority. I would hope they can keep Saunders around. I would let Jose test the waters as a FA. He might not like what he finds out there after a poor season.
The 3 that signed last year for the first time ever were Wieters, Rasmus and Brett Anderson at 15.8 million. Looks like for 2017 it is set at 17.2 million.
Personally I hope the Jays don't even make a qualifying offer for Bautista or Saunders as they likely both accept and the Jays are stuck with a repeat of 2016 all over again with injuries and bad defense and ok hitting.
Use the money saved to offer Edwin 4 years and $135 million then go out and get a speedy high OBP outfielder. I would love it if they could swing a trade with Washington for Trea Turner or someone like him. Dexter Fowler is an FA but would be mega expensive and is also 30 years old.
Of course there is lots of ick out there like Ben Revere so hopefully they don't go that way!
Jays will qualify both, and they should, as it is a free draft pick. Jose will not accept, and if Saunders does, not a big deal, as he is serviceable if not spectacular. KEEP Edwin. I think he might be more interested in term than $$$, so I was thinking 5 years at $140M as a starting point, and would consider 5/150 as well.
As to "go out and get a speedy high OBP outfielder", the issue becomes who do you give up to get him? What trade bait do the Jays dangle? I have heard the names Pillar, Barney, Goins, and even Stroman bandied about. So, again, what do you lose in one area in order to gain in another?
I can't see them qualifying Saunders at $17m. If they do, he'll surely accept and he's certainly not worth that price. Also, not sure if there's a draft pick on the line for him as he came via trade. The only way it works for the Jays is if they can do a 2 year deal at a lower avg salary, but even then, not sure we want him back, especially if Joey accepts his qualifying offer.
Saunders was with them the entire season so he can get a qualifying offer if the jays want the possible draft pick.
I still think Joey takes the offer, but they cannot chance losing the pick. If he just had an off year then it's a slam dunk he rejects but he was injured and it may allow him to up his value if he can stay healthy.
I got them for +750 when I post my prop bets below, it is a number that I continue to believe will drop. I few years ago I made the prop bet the Jays would not get to 87 wins setting the line at 86.5 Well this year it is the same number and the team is better. It was an easy over the total. (93 wins this year)

Jays need to find a way to get in runners from scoring position with less than 2 outs. Can't go 0 for 5 with 8 stranded and expect to win.
I wish this could be bigger, but

I may have to re-evaluate based on new evidence.

So I thought I'd update this. I did have someone ask about it.

Qualifying offer deadline today. Any last predictions on who gets one and who accepts?
For the record, I say Eddie and Joey both get an offer and they both decline.
Actually that's more likely goodbye Edwin.. DH..
