Wat, the 2 mods dunno how to post an InterWebby link? ;) After talking to westside8, my plan is to book a Buffalo flight (U$167.50) by the Thursday deadline. Unfortunately for me, the Mega and DSE Championship events are during the blackout dates, so I will have to return by November 19. Is anybody else flying out of Buffalo and returning on or before November 19?

Welcome to 2 pages ago :D;)

Dude..cab and flip for the bill!

    Btw...I'm fine with IP.

Well, I was thinking more along the line of taking a shuttle. Maybe I could use my extra CPF fantasy pool money for the cab. lol :)

That works too..I do owe you like...$30
  • Ok, I booked my rooms, subject to change, ie better rate and/or location. I have booked at Hooters for the 11th to 14th for $29. per night, Binions for the 14th-16th, at the same $29. per night and then back to Hooters for the 16th to 18th. at the same $29. per night. That's 7 nights for a total of $203. plus taxes...

Now I know this is not prime location wise but I have been to Vegas so many times I know all the best ways to get around and I can get from Hooters to mid strip, ie Venetian in about 15min. I do want to play at Binions on the weekend so that ties in there......

That's a whole week in Vegas for approx $400. airfare and hotel. I'm content with that.... Now bring on those tournies........

Just tell the truth...you just wanted a room to yourself so you can bring home as many matching rocks for a night as you like without any evidence from JohnnieH's camera.

Jeeesh, Johnnie is bring a camera? Sort defeats the purpose of "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" doesn't it? OK, then perhaps I'll bring mine as well, just for counter evidence.... :)

Don't think they have any naturally filled pillows there.

  • hey Compuease

I've told Johnnie (aka the world's worst photographer) that he's not allowed to take any pics, or if he does, I get editing rights.....

    THough I doubt he'll listen

    I've changed it to:

"What happens in Vegas will be posted on Facebook"

I will also be bringing my camera however....I will also bring a consent form that will allow you to post/not post pictures of me and the others. Some things are best left to the imagination.

p.s. I cannot wait to do this!

Excellent idea Shannon... Although Johnnie will probably be way to shit faced to even hope to point his camera in the right direction.. However he could get a lucky shot... :) I vote for not consent...
I can hardly wait to see Mark, Johnnie and Mario's faces when they first hit the strip on the Tuesday AM, that's why I'm real glad to travelling on the same plane as them going down... I think all the rest of us have been there before... It's a special event for first timers.. almost like first time....... nevermind....
  • So how many of are there going now? 10, 11? I've lost track.. maybe we should edit the first post in this thread to show who's coming, for what days and where they are staying?

Finalized my flight yesterday. $287USD Inclusive, flying direct, DTW to LAS and back again. Nov 5-12.

Holding off on booking a hotel til a little closer, still havent found the right deal yet. Lots of email offers coming in daily,
FalkyBones is part of the forum invasion on Nov. 5-12. In terms of accommodation, I would have chosen the same hotels as compuease if being on the Strip wasn't important, but Imperial Palace is the best value for me. I booked directly through the IP website for U$145/person for six nights, so my direct flight and hotel cost is U$322 total (including taxes) or only $46/day over seven full days.

Waking up every morning at IP for its AA/KK Cracked promotion & free cookies, then walking across the street by noon to play in the +EV Mega/Deep Stack satellites or up to five two-day events: PRICELESS! :D

  • Ok, Johnnie, Mark and Mario, since we're all going down on the same flight, what about this? I am thinking about booking here Americas Best Value Inns, Suites and Hotels Romulus MI US- Reservations 888-315-2378
for the night of the 10th for $69. which includes 7 days of parking. If you like we could all drive down mid afternoon of the 10th, play the $75. tourney here
Greektown Casino - Hotel & Visitor Information
at 7pm, then grab some shut eye, then take the hotel shuttle over to the airport at say 4am, leaving our 2 cars at the hotel. I imagine we would have to pay something extra for the 2nd car but bound to be less than the airport parking. Airport parking alone is about $65. for the week. Item of note, Detroit Airport is about 15-20 miles west of downtown Detroit.

I'm concerned about you guys getting totally wasted before you even get there.... Believe me, it's painfull... lol

That's sounds pretty good to me. I'm an earlier riser so I should be ok with getting up at 3:30am and I won't be getting bombed until we reach Vegas.
  • Not to thread jack...but which airlines are you guys booking from for the cheapest airfares (flight only)? I'm looking to go in mid-late December and it seems the cheapest way is to fly out of Buffalo (but then I got to factor in gas, parking, etc. so not sure if it's worth it). Suggestions?
  • This time I'm flying with Southwest only because they had the 50% off promo to fly out of Buffalo, but promo is now over and probably does not cover the time you're looking to go. Flying out of Buffalo, your best bet is to just keep checking sites like Expedia...I found something when I went in July for uder $300 CDN both ways with US Airways, but that was when the Canadian dollar was at par if not better vs. the USD.
  • Btw...you guys up for buffet lunch somewhere on the first day? It might be the only day where a few of us won't be playing the noon tournaments so thought it might be a good day to do it.

  • FWIW...

I like that idea that compuease had with going down on the 10th and playing a bit.... Who's driving btw?
