  • I'm booked.

Leave Detroit Nov 11 8:40am arrive Vegas 10:11am
Leave Vegas Nov 15 7:09pm arrive Detroit Nov 16 5:11am

My birthday is the 18th, so we'll have to do some celebrating :) I mean, just one more reason to "celebrate".

    stp
  • Why don't we get a hotel in Detroit near the airport on Monday night, get a few drinks and play some hotel poker. Won't want to be tired from playing poker at the Windsor Casino all night long....

Are you on our flight? It's at 6am! I don't see the point of getting a room for only 6-8 hours. I think we should sleep all day (if you're not working) then drive down in the evening, get food at Denny's or something, then hand out at Casino Windsor. Once we're boarded we can drive across and head to the airport.

Who is driving down anyways??!!! Wes I'm looking in your direction......
  • I am driving down the evening or late afternoon of the 10th and can carry 3 others, only issue is I'm not coming back with you guys. I am returning the 18th. If you guys want to organize it just let me know how many need a ride to Detroit with me.
    Wes, are you booked yet?
  • The lowest flight price I have found so far is U$199 (including all taxes) for November 15-25 from Detroit. The lowest flight from Toronto I have found so far is $387 with Westjet. There is a U$16/person/night deal with Stratosphere Hotel, so if I do go, I can stay there until the 18th when I can split with my friend when he arrives at Sahara Hotel.

Did anybody pay for Spirit Airlines' "$9 Fare Club"? Does anybody have any links for parking or shuttle buses to Detroit Airport? If anybody finds better deals, please post.

I think the total cost with taxes would be about $274. with just carry on and no cancellation ins....
I'm paying just over $200 but am staying until the 18th.

Looks like parking is about $69. for 7 days at several lots including right on the airport property. There are also a few hotel deals where you get one nights accomodation plus 7 days parking for around the same price...... DTW Airport Parking, Wayne County Detroit Metropolitan Airport Parking

The price you have found for Spirit Air is the same as you can book directly on the Spirit Air site. Think mine was $200.76 total. As far as I can see the $9. fare club only really helps you if you fly regularily using Spirit.
If you do go the 15th I'll see you there. By then I should already be up several hundred K or so.. :)
  • NM my link was the same.

    This is the cheapest place

Park N Go: Detroit Metro Airport Parking at About Airport Parking.com

If you use compuease's link it gives all the hotel + park deals. Avoid the Rodeway Inn.

Anyone feel like upgrading to a Venetian/Palazzo suite? Got an invite in the mail for a pretty sweet rate.

Is this still possible? Might be nice to have a little extra space?

    I've used park n go.
    Cheap, secure place to park,
    leave yourself 15 minutes for
    shuttle ride to airport terminal.
Parking at airport is fine, a bit
more expensive, but the walk to
your terminal can be a bit long.

Not really...the only date that the offer is still valid for is the 13th...
  • Alas, I will not be in vegas this week. Have a good time guys.
  • If there is anyone thats planning to go but isn't booked yet..there is a HOT deal from Southwest where you can fly return direct from Buffalo to Las Vegas. I just booked leaving Buffalo on Nov 11, returning Nov 17 for $166 USD

Where do you see that, I only see $143. each way....

Look under special offers when you go to Southwest's page, and find 50% off Buffalo or whatever.
  • Wat, the 2 mods dunno how to post an InterWebby link? ;) After talking to westside8, my plan is to book a Buffalo flight (U$167.50) by the Thursday deadline. Unfortunately for me, the Mega and DSE Championship events are during the blackout dates, so I will have to return by November 19. Is anybody else flying out of Buffalo and returning on or before November 19?

One possible option is for me to book the same flight as a forumer (westside8?), carpool to and from Buffalo, and share a hotel room (Stratosphere or any lower-priced deal). What is the rate at Harrah's where ~5 forumers are staying at?

The Venetian satellite winners receive tournament entry chips (lammers) and cash, so I plan to sign up for every single satellite just like at WPT Fallsview. The lammers have no expiration so they can be used towards ANY Venetian DSE, daily or satellite tournament.

Pretty sure the satellite's rake structure is pretty high...

Found IP for $60~ a night for the entire week earlier today when I was browsing...not sure if I want to do the Strat due to the distance though.
  • Venetian's $80 SNGs have a better structure and lower rake than Fallsview's $170 SNGs, but rest assured, I will do the equity-maximizing satellite analysis by the time I'm at Vegas.

I'm pretty flexible with the accommodation as all I really need is a bed to sleep in when I'm not playing at Venetian/Caesars Palace, where I can take the bus or monorail to.

  • I'll trust Blondfish recommendation on any tournament value....lead us O'Great One!

I'm starting to think we may need to upgrade to a larger room or maybe a suite. Any thoughts boyz?

Also since Wes is leaving from Buffalo, I guess we'll have to see whom can drive to Detroit.
  • It's looking like I can go. I need to know where everyone is staying so I can book close. If not I may just see if I can get the suite at the mandalay bay for 149/night again.

The guys are booked in at Harrah's right now...Buddy, myself, compuease is probably looking into IP or just another room in general since we'll all be there for a couple of days longer than the rest.

Btw..for those that cares...he's my iten..

Tue Nov 11 2265 Depart BUFFALO NY (BUF) at 7:50 AM
Arrive in LAS VEGAS NV (LAS) at 10:00 AM
Mon Nov 17 3944 Depart LAS VEGAS NV (LAS) at 5:05 PM
Arrive in BUFFALO NY (BUF) at 12:15 AM
  • I tried to use the promo code for the flights out of buffalo and it didn't work. Got $700 us for 2 of us to fly out of buffalo on the 12th and returning saturday the 15th. I think that's all I can do given my work situation and I have to confirm with the other person.

Apparently the promo code works between oct 21 and oct 23. but it didn't for me.

Did you go through the link BF posted? Maybe one reason is that you're returning on a Sat..but the one on the 12th should still work regardless.
  • Venetian satellite structure.....

    *****************************************
We will have 3 tiers of satellites, not including ME satellites or ths super, they will be $80, $130, $240. They $80 satellites will have 15 minute blinds and 1500 chips, (2)winners will receive $300 in Tournament Entry Chips (Lammers) and $40 in cash. The $130 Satellites will have the same structure and give (2)winners $500 Lammers +$70 in cash. The $240's will yield (2) winners $1000 in Lammers +$110 in cashand start with 2000 chips.

All Lammers can be used towards ANY Venetian tournaments, including more satellites, and have no expiration, so, they can be used for daily tournaments once DSE is over.

    25-50
    50-100
    75-150
    100-200
    200-400
    400-800
    500-1000
  • They changed the $80 to t1500 now..was t1000 when I was there over summer.

    15% rake in the $80, 12.3% in the $130, 7.5% in the $240.

Heads up for you guys though..when I was there in the summer, most of the time, the satellite that ends up running is the one that gives entry to the next day. So if the tourney next day is a $330 buyin, most of the satellites will end up being the $80.
  • I'm leaning towards staying at IP again since it's easy walking distance to Venetian, Caesars Palace, Bellagio, etc. The lowest hotel rate I have seen so far is through Harrah's website, e.g., U$32 on Nov. 10-13, 16 and U$65 for Nov. 14-15. For the Capri Room (which is probably upgradable with the $20 trick), the total for Nov. 11-16 including taxes is U$281, or U$46.87/night average. If I can't carpool with somebody to and from Buffalo, I'll probably want a trip longer than six nights.

  • If I go I need a large room with a tub for 2. Otherwise it just isn't worth taking the person I want.....LOL. She's young and cute....

I went through the promo link on southwest. Believe me if I could get 2 of us there for $350 US I"d be getting a suite at the Wynn.

If you want to carpool to Buffalo, I can pick you up on the way from Waterloo/Toronto to Buffalo, thats no biggie for me.
