Yeah, I can take care of that myself.

  • Yeah he'll probably last longer if he's not actually there to play - like at his own tourneys

I knew someone would figure out my strategy!

PATENT PENDING!  PATENT PENDING!!  PATENT PENDING!!! :D

    /g2
  • I think that strategy has already been used and made famous by none other than AA in Team Canuchk tournaments.

    :D
  • Or Pinhead's run in the CPF tourney last week...sit out first 45 minutes...get roommate all in KK vs QQ (or something like that) and take down the whole thing...

    Sitting out has its advantages...
  • Yeah I think the 2 biggest pots I played in the first half hour I was there were against him
First we both had 77 and rivered a straight against a rivered set, then I get all-in PF with KK vs QQ

I think I might sit out the first hour of the Stud on Saturday - probably better than trying to play hands
  • 7 is fine with me. Do we have a location? As I mentioned before, I can host (it'd just be a little squishy)

Bristol St Nightclub and Casino would work fine for me.

  • Can somebody who is playing tonight please bring a decent deck of cards since all I have
are plastic coated and they're getting old :(

    Thanks guys

    Thanks guys

I'll bring some decks, I have mostly paper (ick!) but I can bring more then one.
  • I can't play with shitty cards...

I'll try to remember to bring my Kem's.... they're bridge sized, but MUCH better

    Mark
  • I told Rob this morning I would offer to deal for the night if you guys'll have me - so I guess the dealer can find some good cards to bring. I am gonna be coming from Rob's house which hardly has any poker paraphernalia so it mught be hard to find some, but...
  • That is awesome Easy - especially considering it is a week night - and the faster this is over the better.

And Mark is it East or West?
  • It is East, and Tom, we'll make sure you don't have to stay long :)
  • I guess depends on how long it takes G2 to show up and replace you! I hope its early :)

    :'( YOUR A BAD MAN!
  • Hey, things are crazy at work. I will probably stay until about 6:30 (try explaining to your boss that poker is more important than a council report); no matter what start on time - I will be there as soon as I am able.

See everyone tonight! Unless Brad is already out by the time I arrive...say at 7:05.

Wouldnt be his first time to be all in during the first blind level - maybe even orbit!
  • Good luck to all tonight, except of course, the Dirty Whore!! :'(

hey hey, I went out aginst KK last time. Meh oh well :P hey I try my best to go all in 1st hand :P
  • The final preliminary game is done, and the final chip counts are set (see original post). Did Braad manage to get all in first hand? Did Rob remain consistant? Were the ringers as effective this time as they were last? Read on and see!!

    Elimination order:

    10. "King Mob" Dave K.
    9. "TwoThree" Braad
    8. "The Prophet 22" Brent (ringer - "Sir Watts" Mike)
    7. "TNORTH" Tom
    6. "Ineedanick" Dave P.
    5. "G2" Greg (partially ringered by "Pinhead" Brad)
    4. "Shopsy" Jeff
    3. "stpboy" Shannon
    2. "Zithal" Rob
    1. "DrTyore" Mark

The hands that ended everyone's night....

    10. "King Mob" Dave K.

    Blinds 25/25

This was the very FIRST hand of the game!! With 5 callers seeing a flop of 3-10-7 (2 hearts), Dave bets 200, which is called by Shannon and Tom. The turn brings a non-heart Q, and Dave raises $1000. Shannon pushes all in for a total for $5k (less the previosuly bet chips), Tom folds and Dave calls. Shannon shows 33 for bottom set, and Dave shows Q-6 of hearts for top pair and a flush draw. The river brings a non-heart 10, and Dave has the dubious honor of fastest exit from the KWGM 1 games.

    9. "TwoThree" Braad

    Blinds 50/75

Although he didn't get all in first hand, Braad had worked his way down, and pushed all in with his last $1000. Shannon calls with 9-2 of clubs (he told me to write this!), and Tom goes all in after him, Shannon folds. Braad shows 44 to Tom's JJ - a board of 95663 helps nobody and Braad is out.

    8. "The Prophet 22" Brent / "SirWatts" Mike

    Blinds 50/100

Mike raises to 300 and is re-raised to 1000 by Brad. Mike decides to push all in and is called by Brad, who shows QQ. Mike flips over his AK and the race is on. A board of 66995 helps neither player, and Mike is out in 8th place representing Brent.

    7. "TNORTH" Tom

    Blinds 100/200/25

Greg raises to 700 UTG, it's folded around to Tom who goes all in for a total of 2325, which Greg calls. A flop of AJ446 Gives Tom's A3 of diamonds two pair, but it also gives Greg's AJ of hearts the higher two pair. Tom finishes in 7th.

    6. "Ineedanick" Dave P.

    Blinds 200/400/50

Dave's nemesis Rob continues to make his life hell, by raising Dave's SB by 1500 to 1900. Dave pushes all in for another $1950 on top, which Rob calls. Dave shows his AJ to Rob's AK, the board boats Rob on the river when it comes AA53K

    5. "G2" Greg

    Blinds 300/600/100

Mark UTG pushes himself all in and it is folded around to G2 in the BB. Greg calls for the rest of his chips, as Mark has him covered by about $1000. Greg's A-10 gets no help on a board of 222K8, and Mark's 44 holds up to end Greg's night.

    4. "Shopsy" Jeff

    Blinds 400/800/100

Mark UTG raises to 2k, which is called by Shopsy as he defends his BB. A flop of K Q 10 is raised by 3500 by Mark. Shopsy goes all in with 4100 on top. Mark calls and is behind to Shopsy's J-9 against his A-K. The turn brings a J however, and gives Mark top straight. A river 3 dashes shopsy's hopes of a chop, and he's out in 4th.

    3. "stpboy" Shannon

    Blinds 400/800/100

Rob UTG raises to 2500, and Shannon pushes all in for 6700 more. Mark folds his BB (with A-Qo) and Rob calls showing K-Q to Shannon's K-J. The board of K 3 8 5 3 ends Shannon's game in 3rd (Mark feels happy about his fold :))

    HEADS UP:

    Chip count:

    "Zithal" Rob - 26, 100
    "DrTyore" Mark - 23, 900

    Blinds are 400/800/100

After having his lead chipped away, and having to fold a $5000 bet, Rob was outchipped by Mark. Mark calls from the SB and Rob checks. A flop of 5 5 3 results in two checks. A Turn brings a 10, and Mark bets out 1200 which is called by Rob. The River 6 and Mark checks. Rob pushes all in for 5300, which is called by Mark. Rob shows J-6 of spades for two pair, and Mark shows the Brunson with 10-2 for a higher two pair, and we have a repeat of the KWGM 2 preliminary, "Zithal" Rob is Mr. Consistancy after placing 2nd in all thre preliminary games, and Mark manages to tie Rob's chip stack for the finale by repeating.

A big thank you goes out to the two ringers / hosts "Pinhead" Brad and "SirWatts" Mike, and also to the guest dealer "Easy" Amanda and "G2" Greg whose efforts ensured we weren't playing until 2:00 in the morning!!

Just so everyone knows, the KWGM finale will be moving location and time. It will now take place at the world's nicest basement "Shopsy's basement". The date for the finale is SATURDAY MARCH 4, 2006. Good luck to all the players, and keep your eyes posted for updates / further verbal assaults / results!!

You see Mark, everyone knows you pick your nose put it on your cereal and call it boogie O's. They also know that the prelimin's mean nothing. I finished last in the first tournament when I went out with AJ vs. J9, I went out in the second one 4th when I had AA vs. J10. The third tournament I doubled up Braad and Rob (twice I think) but still managed to come in 3rd place, albeit on a bad push from me. 13 people on this forum KNOW I will win the inagural KWGM.

    My prediciton for the Finale

    1. stpboy
    2. Shopsy
    3. Zithal
    4. Drtyore
    5. Comic Book Dave
    6. Dave
    7. Tom
    8. Greg
    9. Braad
    10. Brent

    stp, hells yeah!
  • Congrats on another win Mark.

I cant believe I donked out with Greg saying he had 9s. I was totally out of it - I didnt see the exposed 9 - and didnt even contemplate that he had raised from EP.

I actually thought he had a pair – probably lower than 9s and that I could push him off his hand.

And if I couldn’t I would have at least a few outs with my A (which hit)– and if lucky hit my flush or str8.

It seemed to me like Greg was actually going to fold – until I realized a 9 was exposed and I started blabbing.

The most unfortunate part of the situation is that I thought I was going out in 6th. Which is all I really cared about on a week night – I just need those chips to be average stack.

Although – due to the fact that Mark and Rob have amassed so many chips – I am not in a horrible position.

Good luck to all – and the final game will be great if the prelims are any indication.

Did we make it one game without having an all-in during the first blind level???
  • Nope...

Like I figured, with this group of guys, blinds are just a guideline.

Sigh.. most people get a large starting stack and figure the game will last longer... ours just have bigger bets.

  • Just so everyone knows...

KWGM 2 will be in the works, probably looking to start it in Mid-late April. The roster for KWGM 2 will be determined as such:

    - Anyone who was in the previous KWGM who won one of the preliminary matches has the option of being in the next one
    - Anyone who places in the top three (money placements) of the finale has the option of being in the next one.
    - Anyone who was "reserved" from a previous KWGM but couldn't attend has the option to be in the next one
    - Remaining spots will be up for grabs in $15 SNG satellite tourneys to be held before the next KWGM

So, what this means is that with regards to KWGM 2, people who already have the option to play include

    - "DrTyore" Mark
    - "ItsaMe" Mario (since he won KWGM prelim #1)
    - "Shopsy" Jeff (Since Mario was playing for him)

Plus whomever places money. Players on the "waiting list" from KWGM 1 include

    - "Wolffhound" Dave
    - "Beanie42" Trevor
    - "JohnnieH" John
    - "westside8" Wes

I think that's everyone so far... for KWGM 3 we wont' have the "waiting list" people, and it will be determined more by the SNG's. Also, considering the scheduling may not fit for everyone, there may be dropouts, so keep your eyes peeled.

  • lol @ Braad...

Anyway Mark, I think that the way you propose to allow people into the next KWGM might end up being a long drawn out process...or just a headache. "We're going to play SNG's to see who will qualify to play in 4 more SNG's". I suggest you just pick the dates and see who can play, if their is a waiting list then you can use the criteria that you've layed out. In the circumstance where more then one player had a) never won a prelim in the previous KWGM or b) wasnt on the waiting list then you would have to figure something out but I'd wait to see if that occurs after you list the four dates....

  • Hey

I'm also quite sure that the schedule will be the biggest determinant of the participants, but we'll see
