  • I did a weigh in this morning and I was an even 270, so a loss of 9.5 lbs on the week.
Obviously mostly water weight, but not bad nonetheless imo.

At this point it is mostly water weight. I weighed in this morning too with the same result 9.5 lbs down. A sweater I got for Christmas that was very tight now fits way better. Right now Mike has a slight edge on me.

Things are going well for me 296 lbs.

    Faaaaaag!

Good work. Keep it up. You will beat your brother.
  • a 6

pkrfce9 please note before posting, I mean it is a 5 now!

    Milton Not so!
  • Weighed in this AM at 185.4. Mostly water weight but I'll take the 8 lbs as a good kick-start!
  • Looks like a lot of peeps off to a quick start
  • dear fat boys (and girls),

as it turns out, i am going to be out of town on Mar 21st and i won't be able to take my scale with me to post my results.

i can either post my weight on Mar 16th or 24th. i'm guessing my weight will be the same both dates since it is pretty hard to lose weight when you are travelling.

    please discuss.
  • Similar, I am in Myrtle Beach for March break so was hoping to do a final weigh-in on March 13.

IMO if you weigh-in early (or started late) it puts you at a slight time disadvantage.

    16th is OK, IMO.

I am going to say if you can't make the weigh in date you will have to post your total as close as possible to the day. With the 16th being the earliest you would be able to post. The rules are in place for a reason and everyone who joined did so knowing what they were.

I hope this clears it up for everyone, if not please pm me and we can talk.

  • haha I count 6 of those already on my ipod
  • Yes please. Go hit those heavy weights and drink lots of protein shakes.
  • No updates so I thought I would post. Weighed in at 276 yesterday. 15.5 lbs down for just under 5% body weight lost. Another half pound and it will be a bowling ball down.

Nice work Joe. Keep it up.

    I'm in the ball park.

Even better for me: my blood sugar is now in the 'healthy' range!
  • Congrats on the blood sugar thing, amazing what a bunch of degens can do when moneys on the line
  • I'm up a pound this week. Only made it to the gym twice last week (and both times were on Monday...need the motivation to last through the week!)

Ate reasonably well but obviously room for improvement. This will be a better week!

Try drinking a glass of water EVERY time before you eat anything. And stop eating processed foods. Ez game.

Exercise is probably only 20% of your weight loss. Still very important for your health in general but the main thing is to control what goes in your mouth.

    Stay strong!
  • I've gotten off to a slow start, only down 2 pounds but I'm making better food choices. I have taken my lunch to work every day and eat breakfast at home too.

The pounds may not be coming off as fast as I'd like but the money I'm saving is HUGE !!

When you bring lunch it really seems like you have money in your pocket.
  • My blood sugar reading first thing in the morning when I started this challenge was hovering around 9. This morning it was 4.8. This success is far greater for me than winning the challenge. But I'm still taking the cash!

I'm down around 6%. For the 1st challenge I will lose about 1% per week going forward if I behave myself. 250ish is my target for March. 12% is a stretch but that is what I need.

    Where's the update Brent?

    Good luck everyone.

Isn't 4.8 a little low? I know that 9 is a little high for sure for the average person. My brother was telling me a month ago that the acceptable standards had been changed over the past couple of years, so I'm not 'in the loop' as I used to be.

Having a family of diabetics where I'm the only one left without diabetes always made these issues a little scary and interesting.

My Dad broke a record at Kingston General Hospital several years ago with a blood sugar level in the low 50's. Old doctor said he'd never seen anything like it in his entire career.
  • 5-7 fasting sugar is considered healthy. I'm lower because I'm fucking starving!

I hit high 20s when I was first diagnosed.

Whoa 20 is high. 50 induced a heart attack in my Dad.
  • My update: Still fat, but right on pace with where I wanted to be. Eating better than I have in years and am feeling noticablly better without eating so much junk and sugar.

Very happy that I joined the challenge.

That said, today was a bit of a cheat day... I had a small quantity of Popeyes Chicken for lunch and holy fuck was it ever good. It's going to be a long 6 months.
