  • i hope you don't put your garbage out on the curb the night before pickup. i've heard that the government goes through it and learns everything about you. i don't want them knowing i had spaghetti this week. that's my personal private business fuckers!!!
  • I've been out to Woodbine twice now, once to Mohawk and once to Georgian. The games have been great and I'm pretty happy with it I must say. I played the 1/2 plo at Woodbine which was awesome, and the only 2/5 nlhe table I've found running so far was at Woodbine as well. What really caught my attention though was that they are allowing a 150bb buy in for the 1/2 nlhe game. That blew my mind! In Ontario? Wow! Now If they would only allow 150 to 200bb buy ins for the 2/5. As a matter of fact and I'm off topic a bit, I was down in LA twice this year playing the $1000 buy in 5/5 nlhe game at the Bicycle Casino. Really great game and I'd recommend trying it to any decent poker player who understands big stack cash poker. Woodbine even allows straddles now which to me is only a bit less dumb than blind raising with 100bb stacks but I digress. Things are changing though and I think it's great!

I agree with the reviews in the thread but I'll say that they ask only picture ID for security reasons when cashing out or depositing on your players card and you must enter a pin. Nothing wrong with that. Also you're allowed to keep a maximum of $3000 on your account when leaving the casino at any one time. That's more than enough to play poker and never have any issues.

I don't have a big problem with dealers in general but some games are just too slow and can even be tilting at times. This at least speeds things up and takes away the arguments and long speeches etc. etc. There will always be a place for using chips in poker. It's the pure game with all it's tells and nuances and I really don't want to see it disappear. Having a choice is great.

I hope the big brother thing which I didn't even think of before the thread isn't a can of worms. Probably not. Hopefully winnings will always be tax free. Still I personally don't like to be followed around with my finances in general. Credit cards are bad enough. The one positive I can see is it might be living proof that poker really is a game of skill and being a consistent winner has nothing to do with luck over the long term. On the other hand, will that cause our earnings to create tax issues in the future like any other sport? I don't know, probably not, but whatever...

    Enjoy the games!!!

  • Mowhawk buy in for the 1/2 game was $50min $200 max!

One thing about dealers and players is you don't have to worry about something like this happening on these tables

I was down there two summers ago. You should have given the 5/5 Live at the Bike table a try. I think when I was at the Bike they only spread 2/5 $500 max and the $1k max started this year. Might head back down this winter.

I agree with the picture ID also in order to cash out. It's an extra security check in case someone sees you punch in your pin and somehow grabs your card later on. It's not easy to see each others' pin at the tables, but it's not that well protected either. You never know when eyes wander....

Yes, you're absolutely right. And I was on an episode of Live At The Bike in May. Lots of fun. Hope to go down again next year if I can. I love the deep stack games and hope we get some better games with the bigger buy ins here soon or I might just end up an illegal alien living in LA .
  • Just dropped by tonight and played a bit, every table seemed boring, not much table talk or chatter for the most part. Someone told me I came on an off night. Tried to open a new feeder 2/5NL, played 4 handed on a tight table. We converted to a 5/10 limit omaha8 for a bit then played 3 handed 1/2 PLO with a straddle. No one seemed interested in playing with us. Hopefully the weekend action will be better.

At a players deal game, I once watched a player dealing muck his own cards, I wasn't in the hand and didn't say anything, I just waited to see him reach for his cards at show down. They were under the burn cards. :)
  • The response to the Woodbine Poker Room with only word of mouth advertising has been incredible. This week up to 7 tables running and the all 11 tables were running on the weekend . I have counted at least 30 Fallsview regulars that seem to enjoy the luxury of playing poker within a half hour of their residence. The staff have been for the most part considerate to open up games as needed and has always been friendly . Toronto definitely needs a bigger Poker Room ASAP !
  • Checked it out myself this weekend. NL game plays out the same (sometimes better) than Rama or Fallsview, therefore, no need for the looooong drives anymore!:)

I also liked it they offer to open up PLO whenever there is demand. Played it twice and it is action-packed ... not for the faint of heart!

    Two complaints:
    1) should open up a Limit table or two, long list of Port Perry and Brantford semi-regs, but they never bothered to try and open the table. I'm sure it will keep on running once it opens. They should have at least $3-6 and ideally $5-$10 or $10-$20 - not sure what they're licensed for though.
    2) need to get servers in the poker room more often - waited an hour to get a drink
  • I went there last Saturday and the place was great. It took a long time when first getting signed up, but its so much nicer to play fast paced poker.

One thought though is that in the "stats" area it has a section where it says how close I am to reaching the current promotion. Does Woodbine have any promos running yet?
  • I wonder if they backup the info on the cards - say they get damaged?

Also, there are apps out there where people can steal your info off your credit/debit cards while they are still in your wallet. How long before someone figures out a way to transfer your money from your card to their card without you knowing it?

Well it's not quite that simple.. I assume you are referring to this article or something similar?

Hacker Demos Android App That Can Wirelessly Steal And Use Credit Cards' Data - Forbes

While theoretically possible, I don't believe there have been any successful documented cases to date.. It's still way safer than the mag card swipe.
  • Been to woodbine twice now and i love it. Playing 2 - 5 both times. Up 959 the first time and 1019 the second time. Total 8 hours play time.

I see lots of Fallsview regulars but people seem to be making such thin calls. I know i shouldn't be able to sustain anywhere near a $ 250/ hr For too long but it's fun for now.

The experience I am sharing was at Mowhawk :) Was there this past Sunday. Yes i know i posted in the Woodbine thread but part of the topic is about the Poker Pro tables. . Not that I am concerned too much about big brother as our winnings are tax free. Its just more info they can gather. When you load up onto your winners circle card you have to present ID to cash in or out. Its secure I guess but I would hate to loose the card. In live cash they cant really track your play that accurately as they can now with these.

FYI. Lost my card the first day with almost 2000 on it. It is 100% secure. You need the card, photo id and your pin #. Just go back to where they issue the cards and they give you new one.
  • Construction on the Woodbine poker lounge is progressing nicely and we'll be opening to the public on Friday October 26th. We're working on our opening strategies now such as tournament schedules, offers etc. The room will feature 11 poker tek poker tables + 1 black jack table and will operate 24/7. Let me know your feedback on your experiences at other sites and what you would like to see in the room.

    Feedback...........

Good staff working in the poker room especially the black woman with short hair, she is very helpful.

You need to figure out whats wrong with the heating and airconditioning system in that area. It was going from hot to really cold on Sat evening.
  • Been to woodbine now 2x in 4 days and that place is a fish tank. Won't last for long as the word is getting out....my suggestion is get there now!

Cause they don't need dealers as soon as there are 6 players they open a new table. I waited 15 min.
  • Be there in a couple weeks . . . work thing.
  • might check it out on Friday if YRPL doesn't pan out

Are you a regular at YRPL?
  • I've never played on these tables. What does everyone think of them?
I think I will have to try them out someday.
  • Got a solid tell on someone tonight lol. :-X. Playing 1/2

Call on the button with A 4 suited in clubs. 5 of us see the flop. Flop comes A 8 4 rainbow. Folded around to me and I make it 8. The BB moves all his chips to the betting line ($380.00), pulls them back, moves them forward again and moves all in. Everyone folds to me and I ask the guy why so much? I've never seen anyone turn so red. I call and the first thing he says is I made a mistake and miss clicked.

I won the hand but did have a sweat on the turn. Don't think he was angle shooting but what would you do?

Do you give him some money back?
  • You're kidding, right?
  • Would he have given the money back had he won the hand, by mistake ?
  • I was not the only one who noticed that he may have made a mistake so a few at the table actually thought I may be angle shooting.

I did feel a little guilty but if I lost I would have felt worse!
  • Wanted to make a correction from previous post I made. I said you can keep a maximum balance of $3000 on your players card which is wrong. You can make a max deposit of $3000 and apparently keep an unlimited balance.

Would have to think through the security issues on this and what I would feel comfortable with regarding money balance on this card.
