    Can i play?
  • It is done in house and the name of the companies are unique restoration and platinum glass and curtain wall.

Can you play? well if I meet you at the classic maybe it really is a friendly game with guys who dont mind moving money around.

Iam a little scared to bring in new guys the last new guy we had we caught cheating and lets just say that did not go over big with the guys I play with and he was lucky to get out of there. These guys dont mind sitting and losing large and they laugh it off but cheating can get a person in alot of trouble.

I can vouch for Jules, he wouldn't need to cheat.
  • Hope to meet some of you guys at the classic.
  • Scalpers out in full force going rate 1200 guys moving them quickly its 10:50 they seem to have more. I just registered with my own ticket and from the bottom of escalator down they are sitting there about 5 guys

9 unique scalpers responded to an add I posted Kijiji looking for seats. Several of them mentioned they had multiple tickets and asked if I had buddies interested. Asking price was $1400 earlier (LOL) and around 1250 this week.

Its disappointing this wasnt fixed after last year and that I boycott my 'hometown' tournament series because its so poorly run.

I considered driving up this AM for a potential deal on a last minute ticket, but decided Im too terrible at waking up early. Also, waiting forever for a seat at cash or driving home empty handed would tilt the SHIT out of me. GL to all who are playing, hope the good guys win!
  • Anybody know if you at least get put at the top of the cash game list if you bust out of the tourney?
  • Probably not since there is no proof that you just busted
  • I was elimated in 125th last night, they were running alot of single table sats most of the night in grand ball room as they capped the super satalite i am not sure what the number. While i was eating my super a girl from poker room staff came running up to one of the supervisors from turny and said in a very nervous tone " we just erased the 2/5 upstairs by accident and it was a mile long " sup replied "WHAT!" And ran off with her i would asume it would have been a mess after that trying figure out that one
  • That would explain why players were saying the lowest limits they were running in the poker room was 5-10.

But at midnight ish the 2-5 list was there and a mile long LOL

  • Busted the 1K in 124th-ish. All-in with AK vs AT, T on the flop. Saw some terribly bad plays/players along the way. I guess that's what makes this tourney +EV even against the turbo format and all the scalping going on.

Played with the champ Johnathan Duhamel at my first table. Seems like super nice, down to earth guy. Interacted well with everyone at the table. Good to see him representing Canadian poker players in positive way.

Good luck to everyone playing the super satty today. I'll be playing the 2.5K tomorrow.
  • Trying like hell to build a twitter list for updates but slow going. Disappointed that not only turbo structure you guys face but not even 10% of field paying.

    Got this PR and was a facepalm. I despise tourneys taking credit for being biggest and this is the most twisted way I have seen it put;

ANTE UP: FALLSVIEW POKER CLASSIC RETURNS

Niagara Falls, ON – The Fallsview Poker Classic returns for its fourth year from January 16-21 at Fallsview Casino Resort where Texas Hold ‘Em players will vie for a piece of the estimated C$2.5 million prize pool.

“We’ve heard from both professional and amateur players of how much they love this event,” said Greg Medulun, Director of Communications of Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara. “We’re expecting another huge turnout that will guarantee thrilling and competitive gaming action for participants.”
The tournament takes place in Fallsview Casino’s Grand Hall and features three main events. Participants can either buy-in directly for $1,000, $2,500 or $5,000 or register for a satellite, which remain popular among players due to low entry fees and the potential for big-money payoffs. Satellite tournaments began November 5, 2012, and run throughout each of the main events. Additionally, two super satellite tournaments will be held January 17 and January 19 at 3 p.m. for the $2,500 and $5,000 main events.

Last year’s Fallsview Poker Classic netted the largest field in Canadian poker tournament history with a total of 1,392 players taking part in the six-day tournament, which offered a total prize purse of over C$2.8 million. The $5,000 main event was taken by Thomas Middleton of England, who outlasted a field of 229 players and survived a five-and-a-half hour final table to win over $300,000 in prize money. Catching first place in the $2,500 and $1,000 main event was Nicky Evans of England and Steven Howchin of Ontario, respectively.

For more information on the 2013 Fallsview Poker Classic or satellite tournaments, including registration, structure, fees and rules, visit Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort and click on Poker Room or call 1-866-5-POKER-5.

Built on a cliff overlooking the world-famous Horseshoe Falls, Fallsview Casino Resort is the largest and most elegant gaming resort facility in Canada and the crown jewel in Niagara’s stunning array of wonders. It features a casino with over 3,000 slot machines and 100 gaming tables, including the largest poker room in Ontario. The Resort also features a 374-room luxury hotel, a full–service spa and fitness centre, a 1,500-seat Avalon Theatre, dozens of dining and shopping options and over 30,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.
  • So other than the tournament here is their pr department at work.

The don't deal 1/2 at Fallsview so the min amount is 2-5nl. Yesterday after I busted I go to the poker rm and over 200 people on the 2-5 list and tons on the others. I went to Niagara instead and the have basically open seating and started to open 2-5 tables. Early in the night (6-7) the close all 2-5 tables at Fallsview and make them 5-10 tables so they can make an extra $1 in session at that limit. I'm at Niagara playing 2-5 and by 10pm they have 4 empty tables with dealers just sitting there with no one there! Btw I heard there was basically open seating by 10 at Fallsview cause very few had the roll to play 5-10+.

And no shuttle between venues as "we have not had shuttles for 4 years".

Lack of communication has always been Fallsviews biggest problem. They run a decent tournament but are brutal on the little things.

Just an example: in line for registration and guy behind me says to the registrar where can we buy a T shirt for this tournament? Lady says we have been asked this question for the last 3 years but we don't do that. Hmmmm. For those of you that have been to the wsop ever walk through the rotunda befor the main poker room!!!!

If there going to have tournament series they really need to figure out what attracts customers or when Toronto finally gets a casino there series will be history.

    Just my 2cents!
  • I have played in that 1k from the start of the series and hands down this last one had some of the worst and the rudest players ever, i rolled over eveyone in my way with large raises an re-raises and only had 1 show down and by supper had stolen almost 25k in chips i was in shock at the quality of play, i eventually ran into a set over my pair and was elimated in 125 or so hard to tell board didnt move as fast as people eliminated. I am hoping to do better in 2500 hundred tommorro as i have finshished in money before in that event the play is much better i believe because most people have bought in with there own money do to satalites issues so they are more people with a personal investment keeps the play alittle more in line, not to say i am sure to see a few intresting things tommorro i will post anything intresting i see
  • I played the Super Sat to the $2500 yesterday. The structure wasn't terrible for a satty, $5k starting stack and 30min blinds. Everyone played VERY tight, it was very easy to steal, steal and steal some more. If you got played back at, they had it.

I had doubled my starting stack within the first hour and was cruising. At $12k, I got JJ on the button, MP player raised all in, to isolate a short stacks all in and I call with my Jacks and they hold against AQ and now I have $24k. $50k is going to be the average stack size when the tickets are issued, so I am in great shape.

I get moved to a new table and am one of the larger stacks, sitting at $24k. Blinds are $400 / $800 - Short stack in EP goes all in for $4k, MP goes all in for $10k. I am in the BB and wake up with QQ, so I call.

Short stack turns over 9-Tos and MP shows K-Q

Flop is 7-8-J rainbow - short stack has now tripled up

Don't remember the turn but the river is a King. I lost to both of them and am down to $14k, instead of holding and chipping up to $38k and basically assuring myself a ticket.

I then lost half my stack after flopping top two pair to a rivered set. A-9s < QQ

I was lucky to have good players (nice, polite, quick) to play with at all my tables. The dealers I had were all competent, no major mistakes, friendly. I wish they were a little faster in between hands, but I'm nit picking.
  • Aside from the tournament running smoothly, Fallsview and Casino Niagara was a complete and utter cluster fuck. Do they not have strategy meetings before these events ?

From previous year's experience, they SHOULD KNOW the regular card room is going to be jammed. There was no fore thought into how to best manage this situation and get full value from the amount of poker players that were ready to gamble.

There is no excuse for having empty tables with a 200 player waiting list. The excuse is always, "we don't have enough dealers". then HIRE more, even if its just for this week.

If you make more from $5-$10 NL and want to limit the 2/5 tables or move them to Casino Niagara, fine, but this decision needs to be made WEEKS in advance and PROMOTED to the card room, so your regulars know. Same at Niagara, promote that 2/5 will be available during the Classic, so your regulars know.

Then you need to provide a shuttle between Casinos, even just during the Classic, for those players that didn't know about the change, to make it more convenient and Customer Service orientated.

Its seems like they are reluctant Casino operators. They provide locations for gambling but don't want to make it easy for you to play.

The sooner we get private operators in this province (GTA), the better off we will be.
