  • My plans are in a state of flux as well!... I have some major work commitments in June and I have not yet booked my trip as I first need to lock down a few things...

I may have to move my trip to late June... like June 27 - July 2/3... I am still trying to find a window closer to mid-June when the OPT and PFC pros are down there...

Not worried about flights, there are still some good flight options from Ottawa via Newark for $462...

Stay at Palazzo, newer rooms and usually same price. Assume they share pools with V.

Thanks for putting this together. What time you leaving on the 19th? With everyone's committed tourneys, it looks like the night of the 19th is the best night to get everyone together. At the Rio is the obvious choice. Say 10pm to midnite.

Yeah, same price...can't see much about the pool. Was considering MBay for the pool but location is brutal...will be going with gfriend so a good pool would be nice for her while I play poker

MB has best pool apparently but location is very brutal!

Here the main swimming pool is surrounded by three spas, ornate gazebos and topiary that create a Venice garden under the Las Vegas sun.

Towel service: Provided by the hotel.

  • Cabanas are $300/day...not sure if you need to rent one to access the decent pools...prob just book at the V anyhow -- proximity to poker>gf at pool

You still like the action at V better than Rio during the WSOP? I have never been to Vegas during this time frame. Last trip I was back and forth between V/Bellagio. Likely add Wynn and Rio to the circuit this time.

Never gone during WSOP...I assume cash games everywhere in the 5/5 5/10 range will be soft at that time...I haven't even been to the Rio in my 10+ trips to Vegas. I'm probably just going to play a couple VDS events while I'm there...I can play cash anytime here in Cali

I was there in 2010 and I dont remember any mixed games that low. There is some 50/1 nl at bill's I never played it but I think the rake is huge.

I have only been to the Rio once for a concert and wasn't really impressed. Although during the series its likely a poker mecca. Don't recall any 5/5 spread in Vegas?

I have never seen below $1/$2 on the strip casinos, likely have lower limits downtown, etc. The min buy-in is $100 for $1/$2 so it is affordable for most. If you play live cash games locally, I wouldn't be afraid to play your usual limits just because you are in 'Vegas'. The player pool is no different really. More of an international pool of players.

  • I'm there July 6 to at least a week, and good chance that i will be going June 21-24 and playing the 3k. Most likely staying at the Rio

2/5 and 5/5 are the exact same thing to me...2/5 1k+ cap is the same or better than most 5/5 games

  • Is that your curfew?

For the Ontario guys arriving that day, it's 3am. For those of us there already, it's a good time to start playing cash. And we can all still make breakfast. And be ready for Day 1. And I only qualify for the Senior's event by 1 year. Smartass. :)
  • At the Rio the 2/5 game has a min buy-in of $100 and a max of $500. During past WSOPs, my experience and others I know is that the RIO tables were tight compared to potentially juicier games on the strip. I think there is better action at Aria and MGM for 2/5.

There is a $0.50/$1 NL game at Bill's... It is the only one on the strip... but you are talking about 2 or 3 tables crammed into the front corner of Bill's casino. At least play 1/2 at a decent poker room.
  • I think i recall the 5/10 having no cap buy in either.

2/5 500max generally wouldn't be a very good game...I wouldn't sit at a 2/5 game in Vegas that didn't at least offer 1k max. I've always just enjoyed crushing the 1k cap at the V in non WSOP times and I can't imagine the games would be tougher during WSOP anywhere you can find them on the strip.
  • Stayed at Pallazzo last year for ME, pool is 2nd floor, shared with Venetian, obv I never went
  • For poker rooms on the strip, Aria, MGM, Caesars, Venetian, and Wynn offer $1k or higher buy-ins for 2/5.

Bellagio and Rio are capped at $500 and other rooms may not have 2/5 running all the time.

Venetian will be your best bet for low limit mixed games.

Played my first live HORSE there a couple years ago......can't remember if it was 3/6 or 6/12, but they were using brown $3 chips.

They will pretty much start any list u want. I've played 1-2 PLO, 2-5 PLO, horse, hose.....u name it, they'll run it. Best chance to get it going is obv Friday / Saturday.
