Wow, that's a good price for direct out of TO

I'm looking into tournaments, but I don't see any big series that week, although I could be wrong.

I'd like to play tournaments at casinos I haven't been to yet, so I'm looking at the $340 at V, the $250 at Bellagio, and whatever Wynn offers. I'm sure I'll play the 12pm donkament at Rio also.

As for cash games I'd like mostly stick to Harrah's casinos so I can earn comps on my TR card.

Played the daily noon tournament at the Wynn in May on a Sunday. $100 + $20. 30 minute blinds. Had about 50 runners before they closed registration. Not so many regulars as Binions where they have a $100 daily at 2pm with $5k guarantee on weekends. 30 minute blinds and 120 runners when I played it. However a lot of regulars. Loosest cash for me was at the Flamingo (also a Harrah's casino). Huge number of cash tables at the Venetian with everything being played at all kinds of buy-ins.

    Thanks Tom!

Last year we stayed at Flamingo. I loved the cash games there. I would get up for 4am (I'm an early riser) and go get in on the $100 Aces cracked promo, meanwhile I would be the only sober/coherent player at the table. So many bad players making bad calls!

Played at Binnions twice, last time cashing 7th in the tournament for $285.

I've been to V, but never played there. Since CPF is smashing their tournaments this summer, obviously I'm going to try my luck.

Never even set foot in Wynn, need to check out the whole casino. Should be good times :)

    Cheaper trip = more gambool

Exchanged today @ .979 or $100 cdn = $102.16 usd. Keep screwing around with your economy you stupid Americans!

Very true. I checked online this morning and am getting a rate of 1.04USD.

Booked Rio for 27th to 30th at $35/night. The weekend rates are crazy at Rio and my best bet is Hilton for around $80US or I might bite the bullet and go with TI for $122/nght. All other major hotels are way over $120 for the Fri/Sat. Not too keen on Circus Circus or Strat which are a bit cheaper. I really like the location of TI (walking distance to Venetian). Not sure how strict they are at Aria to get the weekend poker rate?

Hopefully some better rates come up for the weekend.
  • Just out of curiosity, where do people stay when they go to Vegas? Do you book a hotel room on the Strip or do you have a favourite out-of-the-way place you don't mind describing?

I've stayed at lower end (but still OK) properties Harrahs and the Flamingo. As long as the room is clean and has AC, the other amenities don't mean much to me.
  • Is it sick that I just booked my next Vegas trip before I have left on this trip?

Just booked 4 nights Caesar's, upgraded Forum Tower Deluxe Room, 475 sq ft, all comped. Nov 26-30

No, because I'm looking at dates for Feb 2012.

Yes, because you're coming with me :D
  • Is it polite to ask how much of a BR people bring for a four-day trip? And how much for non-poker-related activities?
  • Is it polite to ask how much of a BR people bring for a four-day trip? And how much for non-poker-related activities?

That is a wide open question and impossible to answer depending on your likes, gambling habits, etc. If you want to you can spend less eating there than here and even get hotels (without comps) for >$30. per night mid week. However you can also spend a few hundred per day on food and hotel if you want luxury..
  • All moose needs is enough to hit the craps table when he arrives. :)
  • $1500ish for a few sessions/buys-ins for 1/2 NL, 5/10 and under and a few MTTs for $200 or less.

Like Comp said, you could eat at fast food joints and live off $30/day or less. I would guess my daily food rate is around an average of $50-$60. I usually splurge on a good meal (+$50) at least once per trip.

For non-gaming activities, the sky is the limit. Literally. You can almost fly in space for $5000! Plan out your interests and budget accordingly.

All I need is one buyin to the Excal 9am tourney... Starts my run... lol.

No you don't. You get off the plane broke, take luggage roulette winnings to the craps table, hit six points, and enter and cash in a poker tournament. Continue winning until it's time to leave. Get on plane 4-6 days later thousands of dollars richer.

been a while since that..... The rest of it is pretty accurate though.. :):)
  • Sweet - changed flight to leave Monday morning from Buffalo so now I get in a 1pm instead of 11pm or whatever it was before
  • 50% discount at Gaylord's Indian Restaurant at the Rio. Anyone been?

I think Blackmagicz stayed at Aria during this period. Surprised a new hotel would have this problem. I would expect this at Hooters :) Guess its a good idea not to drink the water in your hotel room.....hello.
  • I got restaurant.com tickets for there. Wait for a sale. $2 for $25 I believe I paid. I assume also they would be on the list at tixfortonight.com.

    edit: yup

    http://tix4dinner.com/gaylord.htm

You pay something like $4 but there should be a coupon on the website somewhere for another $2 off. redit: the $2 coupon is for show tickets only.

you can only buy tickets on the same day? do you have to line up and see what's available?
  • For shows it is same day. For meals - I believe it is a voucher which you can exchange at a later date. The strip tix is very busy but if you have a car the offstrip locations have almost no wait.

Also for shows you are not buying a particular seat, you must then go to the box office and exchange your voucher for an actual reserved seat. The long lines are because everyone lines up early so they can go exchange their voucher ASAP and get the best seats.
  • Speaking of shows, are we going to any? I believe Penn & Teller was discussed, and since we all like boobies maybe we should see Jubliee?

+1 on restaurant.com. usually by the end of the month they have 80% off sale so I got one which I gave to a friend for the WSOP this year. I've been there before, I'm not a big fan of Indian food so it was meh for me, but I know some people that loves it there.
  • anyone know anything about the Polo Towers? Pretty decent rate for the weekend:

Polo Towers - a Diamond Resorts International Destination (Las Vegas, United States of America) | Expedia
  • I've stayed there. It's ok. Small pool on the roof. Great view of strip.

Timeshare so be prepared for a hard sell.

Try Hooters. It has a poker room and is right beside Tropicana and MGM which both also have poker rooms now.

Expedia shows $69, $69, $20 but try contacting them directly:
e-mail us at res1@hooterslv.com to inquire about your specific dates.

Thanks, but looking for Sept 30 - Oct. 3rd segment of the trip. That's a pretty good rate.
  • Well you only get one set of coupons and staying Sept. 30 would qualify then.
  • Like to give the following tournaments a shot. If anyone is interested in swapping an equity percentage, let me know. These all seem to have a decent structure and good starting stack. Probably going to put together a 30% equity share for a group of tournaments that week:

    Aria $125 1pm or 7pm (daily)

Aria 1:00 pm $125 NL Holdem Poker Tournament

    Venetian $150 noon (daily)

Venetian 12:00 pm $150 NL Holdem Poker Tournament

    Venetian $340 noon (Sat).

Venetian 12:00 pm $340 NL Holdem Poker Tournament
  • Funny you should bring that up, I'm just starting to look at which MTTs I want to play. All 3 you posted look good.

Since my wife plans to crash the Caesars pool, I'm going to play a tournament 'next door' at Bellagio. Never played there before. Probably the Daily $340, unless I'm up for the week than I'll play the $540 on Friday or Saturday.

Bellagio 2:00 pm $340 NL Holdem Poker Tournament

Bellagio 2:00 pm $540 NL Holdem Poker Tournament

I'll probably BINGO-it-up at The Rio $60 at 12pm or if we're staying 'in' at The Rio one night, I'll play the $125 6PM. Either way I'm drinking off my singles.

I'll swap 5% with you if we play the same tournaments.

ok, sounds good. I'm open to tournament suggestions, although the $540 might be too steep for me, depending on how the rest of the trip is going. Like the tournaments that start midday.

Note there are sats for the $540.
