Fallsview poker classic 2011

Travelled to Niagara yesterday and played for a couple of hours.
I find it very hard to get any info out of this place. I tell ya. After talking to several people. BAD BEAT JACKPOT is coming and looks like it is going to start at the beginning of Dec. No one seems to know how much extra they are going to skim off the pots along with the rake or session fees.

I had asked for the BLIND STRUCTURE, STARTING STACKS and Max # of RUNNERS for each of the 3 events and THEY COULD NOT TELL ME.
I have sent an email to Fallsview to see if anyone can send this info to me.
I will keep you all posted.

Last I checked satellite structure is not event structures
  • I did not see it but I will check again.
  • Max runners for each tourney is 500. I can't answer the other questions.
  • I had a minute to take another gander at Fallsview's web site. They have the Blind Schedule for the Bingo Satellites, Schedule and RULES , but nothing along the lines of any info on the Tourneys themselves. I am hoping that my email gets answered.

And as for the # of runners...look at the prize pool and divide by the entry...and you'll have the # for each tourney.

    Not that tech savy.
The point I was making is that this is a major tournament and the Info
should be available and posted on the web site.
I asked for # of runners Max Starting chip stacks for all 3 events and blind structures with time.
They sent me a link that only has satty info. Unless I have missed something, NONE of this is posted on Fallsview's web site.

    Bwahahahahahahahahaha . . . sorry, I tried to keep it in. :-X
  • Nooooooo. It's too much work to type all of that info on the web site and still have my 15 smoke breaks and 2 hr lunch at the FIRKIN.
    :bs::bs::bs::bs::bs::bs:
  • Found out that super sat's will be 5000 starting chips and 30 min blind levels. 500 people in. Seems kind of long and if you win how much sleep will you get for your event the next day?

WPT had 230 runners day 1B Sat. Started at noon down to 100 by Midnight.
1/2 hr Blinds with 500 runners starting at 4 should be on level 16 if there is no break. I don't think there is going to be much sleep time unless it's a DONKEY SHOVE FEST. Day 2 will be a long one probably way in the early morning hours to finish.
They may get 500 runners but I don't know about the 2.5 K or the 5K
  • you're right steve the satts are 30 min levels and the mains are 45 min levels. 5000 starting chips.

YA THINK! Wow why didn't I come up with that great IDEA.
Been on the Phone, A personal Visit and emails and could not get a straight answer out of anyone.
  • Why would levels ever be up to the "tournament director's discretion"? I could see this causing some problems.

Time constraints. This is the real world we live in.

The problem is that with a full tourney in the $1000* buyin their could be 2.5 million chips in play with a 10k 20k blind at level 24. There's still lots of play left at this point ... they'd have to crank up the blinds pretty quickly to make any difference. it gets worse(better?) with the higher buyins.

*the $2500 tourney would have 5 million and the 5000 would have 7.5 million.
  • Hi, anyone have any further details, number of entrants? Top payouts? They had 'prizing' not sure what that means exactly, sounds like the potential total pool? Thanks

take the "Prizing" and divide by the buyin*= total entries.

    *minus the rake I guess.

many tourneys pay out top 10%.

    For ex...

Stars $500 tourney payout assuming 500 runners

    1st 19%
    2nd 14%
    3rd 10%
    .
    .
    .
    50th .5%

I think It may be a little higher than that.

Running larger fields than last year in the same amount of time.
I can see something happening like cutting the blinds in midflight to get it over. After they have realized that there are too many chips in play for the time frame.
This should PISS OFF enough players who will say F%*k It and never come back.
  • I did assume that initially however 1.4M / 4.8K = 292 players aprox, would think there would be more..... however looking at last years entrants 156, I guess 300 could be accurate.

Sadly, I can see this happening all too easily, based on prior trip reports. This is the world they live in, apparently.
  • Every live tournament I have played in the structure is put out there and the small print always says up to the tournament directors discretion.

Usually this means when they say we are playing x amount of levels for day 1, you could end up playing more or less levels on day 1 cause they want to get to a certain number of players left in the day. (usually end up playing more levels)
  • 13CARDS wrote: »

Pretty sure you couldn't be snottier. It's not hard to have a good idea of how long a tournament will take, within a level or 2 at the most.

The way things are worded, it seems a lot more than that is up to discretion. If it was something as trivial as the number of levels played in a day, I wouldn't be concerned. It's when blind amounts and time of a level and things of that nature are made up on the go that there's problems.
