I'm real old, I have no idea what you guys are talking about.. And I probably don't want to know!

    Now why did I look...

    Urban Dictionary: Korean Snow Globe

    You guys actually do that?

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! PLEASE KEEP IT IN VEGAS!
  • I hope all your paperwork is in order cuz Hobbes pulled a Kristy and got turned back at the border so he's not coming. I also have two Blue Man Group tickets for sale.

    Serious.

Really? WTF! My passport is current and no skeletons in the closet.. There has to be a story behind this...

    +1 wtf?!
  • You get turned back at the border I'm not going to pry. I just feel bad for the guy. No more story.

Good for Hobbes: got them to waive the cancellation fee.

Good for Me: got one night comped, so saved $40

Bad for Compuease: you came too early buddy, looking at the IP page, could have had the entire week for $65. Should have waited one more day. ;)

Oh and the van's chopped 5 ways now.

That sucks. I assume we're still going to Blueman? Just scalping their tickets? Unless Jeff wants one?
  • Hobbes got the blueman confirmation number transferred to me. 2 tix for sale unless Jeff wants one.
  • Hey, I'm happy for the price I got, no worries there. Really feel bad for the Hobbes though. That must really suck.
Don't really want to see Blue Man, saw it a few years ago, didn't think much of it then.. I'm fine with the 5 way split on the van, still cheaper than me renting my own car...

I got his pm details, I'm assuming you guys did as well.. Those border guys march to their own drummer and he's not very good.

See you guys shortly before 9, I assume that's still the plan?
  • It is for us. See you all in 12 hours!
  • Ok we arrived pretty well on schedule, 5 of us survivors, moose, mmoose, JohnnieH, mrs JohnnieH and myself.
Uneventful drive to Detroit (Thanks JohnnieH's), easy border crossing, only Moose gets any real questioning. For some reason as a dual Canadian/American he received a little more grilling. We proceed to look for a Costco on the way to DTW using Moose's new Garmin GPS. It seems to mysteriously keep sending us off in the wrong direction and instead of arriving at the Costco I thing we ended up at Mr Costco's house in the middle of the burbs... lol... Finally get untracked, get to Costco, buy the stuff they wanted, hit the airport still in plenty of time. Uneventfull flight other that I get lucky, the rest are seated in row 12, I'm supposed to be a middle seat in row 18 but board almost last and find out from the attendant that they are about 40 short of full.. Bingo, I'm looking for other opportunities to get my money in good while I'm walking down the aisle. Row 11 is the exit row (so more leg room) and it's empty. I sort of just stand in it waiting to see if anyone claims it...No one does and I get an exit row to myself. These seats I believe are supposed to be $40. extra if you select them pre boarding so I'm up $40. already! Moose is somewhat pissed that I got a cheaper flight last minute AND got a better seat without having to pay for it.. :)
On time arrival and we decide to play carousel bag roulette and I win again! Up another $15... I'm on a roll, can't lose.

Picked up the rental van, and go looking for a Walmart to buy cheap phones to use while in Vegas... The GPS lets us down again and we never find it.
Dinner at In and Out, check into our respective hotels and then hit the Flamingo poker room. The rest play 2/4 bingo and I play 1/2 for only 30 min, up $47. and I decide to book a win and retire for the night. Leave the rest playing 2/4 with Moose up significantly I think.
  • Not a bad day today, chopped 1st in the Caesars $85. noon tournament today for $636. details in the buy a piece of me thread. Had pretty good buffet dinner at Planet Hollywood's Spice Market Buffet. We all bought the $39. 24 hr pass.. bonus for me as I got $25. of that comped... woohoo..
Moose and I played 1/2 at the Mirage this evening and we both dropped about $100... Played lots of hands (for me at least) and kept missing...
Think Moose is down some at craps too, although with him that can turn around real quick.
JohnnieH is up some at poker and hasn't played anything else I don't think..
  • Not much to add, but' I'll try.

So far I haven't left a table down yet, although I've only had 3 table sessions. I won the pity 6th place bubble prize in the Caesars tournament for $100, and I'm up $100 from 2/4 FL, so yesterday was a pretty good day for me. Moose busted around 20th, but got $37 from us as we all had 5% of each other.

The weather here is effing amazing, about 35d everyday, but it's a dry heat. I'm not planning to play poker today, just sit by the pool and maybe explore the malls. We have Blueman Group tonight.
  • Congrats on the great start guys. Keep it up.

.... wow.... did your wife steal the keyboard to type that or just tell you what to put?

lol...I'm not the degen that Moose is, but I do feel the itch burning again. If I'm coherent after BMG I'll hit the felt.
  • Quick update in here as most of my updates are in my thread. Moose and JohnnieH don't have internet so will likely put in more detailed updates when they get home.
All parties are still alive and kicking, Moose, JohnnieH and wives went to Primm yesterday and rode the rollercoaster, at least Moose and JohnnieH did.
Last night I know they were partying at Bally's. Apparently it was pretty wild. I spent the evening at O'Sheas, I love that place, just a money pit of drunk tourists. Today, while I play the Venetian they are going downtown to play Binions 5K Guarantee...
  • Love Osheas as well but the last trip the donkey won when she called my all in for over $150 into a $75 pot with her favourite hand 10 9 s. My AA dropped to 0 when she flopped a full house.
  • I'll start off by saying this: I FOUND SOME RUNGOOD!!!!!!!!!!! Only once now have I left a table down money!

As Comp said, we spent Friday driving out to Primm Vally so we could ride the roller coaster at Buffalo Bills. It was the best RC experience I've ever had. An amazing ride!. After taking 2 trips on the 'coaster Moose finds a $2 craps table and buys in. I watch a few throws to get the basics of the game and then throw down a twenty. We watch a guy have the most incredible run ever. He threw for at least a half hour, turning my measly $20 into $49. Moose was up $70 and lady to his right turned $2 into $2200. No lie, I witnessed it with my own eyes. She just kept increasing her wagers and rode on the back of the extremely lucky roller. Uber-sick rungood! I leave the table up as a craps player never having rolled the dice!

As for poker, I've been mostly sticking to 2/4 Limit. I've been getting super paid off by the local nits and drunk tourists. Today was another good tournament showing for me as I cashed in 8th place out of 80ish runners in the Binnions $100 5K Guarantee for $245. I had the honour of meeting Charles "Woody" Moore at my table. Very nice dude. I also saw the sickest bad beat ever in a live game. It was AIPF: AA vs KK vs KK. The flop drops a Q109, and the turn was the Jack!!!!!!!!!! SICK SICK SICK SICK!!! I couldn't believe it. After the tournament I took my free bet coupon to a blackjack table and promptly won $20, and $10 for MrsMoose, as she rolled my double down. SWEET!

Obviously I'm still having a blast here in Sin City. Tomorrow the wife and I are going to Bellagio for the buffet and then Ceasars to watch the NFL games. Monday is Hoover Dam and then we all fly home on Tuesday.
  • We all went to the Hoover dam today, very cool for anyone who hasn't been there before. Pictures do not do that thing justice. There is also a new 4 lane highway and bridge over the river, bypassing the top of the dam, scheduled to open Nov 1st. It is just as or more impressive than the dam itself.
On the way back we stopped at some non descript casino and Moose gave us the advanced $1, craps lesson.. Woohoo, up $20. In fact 4 of us played and all made money on our rolls.. Easy game.. Thanks Moose.
Likely playing the Caesars 7pm $160., tourney as my last one in Vegas. Need to finish with a bang. 10K chips, 30 min blinds.
  • The Mooses and JohnnieHs have returned safely. Compuese had another half hour of driving in front of him, but I'm sure he'll be fine.

I'm starting a new thread for more TRs, pictures and random thoughts.
  • Is it only Bill's Saloon and MGM that has 50¢/$1 cash games? A relative is going to Vegas this weekend and will be playing a live cash game for the first time.
    moose wrote: »
MGM has .5/1, and good drinks.

Bill's has .5/1, mediocre drinks but good comps and AA cracked from 10 am to 2pm, which makes the game a total rock garden with everyone buying in for the min. IMHO this makes Bill's the best for a total beginner, if the whole point is to try it out with minimum risk. You can transfer your comps to Harrahs total rewards or ask for a paper comp.

I believe so, at least on The Strip.
