    1. I don't recall ever finding money in public, which is strange considering the number of hours that I've played live poker. What popped into my head when you asked this was a memory of being a kid, age 8 or so, and finding either a $5 or $10 bill in the garbage when I was on vacation in Florida with my parents. Thinking harder about it I recalled that I actually had this bill that my parents gave to me and accidentally threw it in the public garbage with some food. I was too embarrassed to go fishing for it myself, so the I told the kid I was with that I saw someone throw some money in the garbage and then we both got it out and went to play Galaga and pinball at the arcade.

    2. My father passed away a few years ago. He had retired due to medical problems. He was in the clothing business prior to that.

    3. Nothing exciting -- probably winning 2k in a night playing 2/5 or 5/5 NLH live. I recall making $1800 in a 1/2 DC (mostly PLO) game live last year which was fun.

I don't play any MTTs of significance. In fact, I don't think that I've played any MTTs for over 2 years...I really don't enjoy the time commitment that they involve. So, no big scores. Also, I have more or less quit playing live poker after reevaluating what I want from poker, which is to be able to travel/have some extended vacations and play online while away to make some money, so I am currently starting to multitable cash games online and trying to improve on this aspect of my game...just grinding PLO at the moment, but enjoying the steady gain in my online bankroll as I have never before committed playing online as a steady source of income.

HU has a lot of variance and I have no idea the sum of his bankroll, so I can't do the maths.

I added number because I don't know how to place responses within you post and have it look decent.

    1. A new laptop for poker so I can play more than 6 tables. $500 isn't much money these days imo.

    2. In relation to what? That's a pretty broad Q.

    3. Various, I wear boxers.

    4. None.

    5. Hmmm...nothing I can think of in my personal life. I suppose some things at my work would be considered disgusting my some as I work as an emergency vet.

    6. None really. I'm a pretty big guy and people tend not to mess with me and I'm not very violent. I used to fight on occasion when I played competitive hockey but that doesn't really count.

    7. see 6.
  • At what age did you lose your virginity?

How old was he? (sorry, couldn't resist) :D

Ever gone busto, as it relates to poker?

How long since you've been in the red, poker-wise?

    17.

    She was 16 or 17.

No. I have always been a winning player since I started playing 2/4 LHE live in WA state about 7-8 years ago. I have always taken poker seriously because I am playing with my money. I am not much of a gambler, so I figured from the start that I should study the game to have some edge over the field. I recall having the starting hand charts/groups from Sklansky's Theory of Poker typed out and in my pocket to refer to when I first started playing poker at the casinos in WA state. I have had some terrible runs, the worst being last winter when I lost about 1/2 of my live bankroll in 2 months and then stopped playing poker for about 1/2 a year.

In the red would mean busto, no? If so then never. If you mean losing over a certain period then define what increments of time, etc.

I have no idea who is the best poster on CPF -- most threads that contain posts from people who actually play poker on a regular basis are interesting.

The obvious worst posters are the trolls like Fed8her or whatever his name is/was. The most frustrating/worst posters in an ongoing sense are from those players on here who have improved their games 0% while having free access to some good advice for years on this poker forum and who refuse to listen to anyone's advice regarding hands/lines, etc. One glaring example readily comes to mind.

I don't take anything personally on here so I don't feel that anyone is a DB -- immature trolls are annoying though.

When I moved back to Canada/Toronto I played a lot of underground poker in Toronto, the GTA...GTAPoker.

    Yes.

Girls seem to list sense of humour as very important, so I suppose if I were so inclined I'd say Vince Vaughn...I always find his performances funny. Made and Swingers are 2 of the best movies ever.

I usually am on here while I am playing poker online. I left a few times for several months, the last time being when I took a hiatus from poker for 6 months or so last year. I guess I keep coming back partly as a habit and partly for entertainment...I don't feel that I improve my poker game much from being a member here, for that I read hands and threads on 2+2.

There are also some intelligent and entertaining people on here which makes for some interesting discussions at times.

I remember clearly the first time I played poker. I had moved to WA State because I thought it would be an interesting place to live. It must have been 2002 or so. My friend's boyfriend was having some people over and I went -- we played holdem, draw and other games (typical home game mix) for quarters. I didn't even know hand values but I thought it was tonnes of fun and I won maybe $10. I remember thinking how interesting it was that you could fold your cards preflop in holdem and not have to put any money in unless you wanted to do so. I went home and looked-up poker through google or similar and read about it and then I was hooked. I found the lowest casino game around, 2 4 LHE, at a small casino in WA state and played a couple times a week. I also found Poker Room online and played a bunch of $5 LHE sngs. This was before anything was NL at all online. I wasn't even aware of the poker boom of 2003 as I was already playing before then.

I'm sick of watching poker tournaments on tv -- I used to watch a bunch, but once you reach a certain level of play it is tiresome watching 20bb final table poker. I still enjoy watching cash games though and currently I enjoy watching Durr, Ivey and Antonius school the likes of Hellmuth, Bloch, Negreanu, Lederer. Watching the latest Million Dollar Cash game and PAD cash game series really highlights that there are two echelons of cash players at the top these days. I like watching any cash-game players that play an imaginative deep stack game. I don't have a favourite player, but I love watching Hellmuth and Lederer lose in cash games and I like watching solid lineups like the ones in the shows listed above.

    I'm an only child.

I just got back from Puerto Vallarta. I have travelled in Africa and extensively throughout the US. If i could live anywhere it would be somewhere warm/tropical by the ocean. In my profession, and in most professions I assume, there are not many, if any, opportunities to work and live in these places as many of them are 3rd world countries. This year I am focusing on playing poker only online so that I could possibly have the option of living in such a place for some time while still making an income.

I think Mary Ann is way hotter. Physically she is more my type and I also find intelligence very attractive.

    I'm not.

If you are stupid I tell you, but there is no anger at all.

I assume you are referring to the tone of some of my poker-related posts...some people refuse to learn and it is frustrating trying to communicate with them at times. Results-oriented players who make $400 in a 1 2 session will never learn anything from their triumphs or mistakes, all they know is, "me more money, me played good".

    1. Ass (I guess)...I just like fit girls and they tend to have smaller breasts.

    2. Poker is not a sport. I used to play competitive hockey and I can tell you that many of the mental aspects are identical to both poker and sports, but there is zero physical training or aptitude required in poker. The Olympics are kind of outdated anyhow, no?

    3. That I had a mental disorder or subnormal intelligence quotient. How religion is not treated as a mental disorder in the year 2010 is way beyond my comprehension.

    4. what kind of music do you listen to?

    1. I don't especially enjoy horror movies. I don't have a huge dislike for them, but I feel that most of them are crap aimed at a very young audience. When I was a kid I really enjoyed the Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street movies, etc...but I think that ended with puberty. My favourite horror movie of all time was likely Dawn of The Dead. A cult movie that I recall being hilarious when I was a kid was called Basket Case -- about a Siamese twin(ish) kid that has his twin separated and carries him around in a basket as I recall...good times.

Strangely, the only time I recall being scared after a movie was in my undergrad after seeing Silence of The Lambs and walking through a dark parking lot/alley with my date afterwards to the car. I remember feeling kind of spooked at that. I think the reason I remember this is that it is so ghey as that movie probably wasn't even scary.

I dislike the overtly graphic horror movies of today. I though Saw was cool but then they got too disgusting, etc.

    2. I love animals, but I didn't always dream of being a vet like you hear from some people. I went to McGill with the intention of finding something in a scientific field that fascinated be (physics, math, biology, etc) and studying that thing/doing a masters/phd. The more I studied the more I realized that studying one small aspect of science seemed very limiting and I didn't know what I wanted to do with myself. I then traveled in Africa for a few months and decided that I could become a wildlife vet. Well, I then realized how limiting that was as a profession as well and found emergency medicine and I really enjoy many aspects of it and I am very good at it...although after 10 years it isn't too intellectually stimulating anymore. It is still enjoyable doing a good job and treating the animals.

    3. I had to look-up Leo Margets, but I recall watching her in the WSOP this year. I don't think either is especially hot, but Vanessa seems like she is cute. I geneally like foreign women, but Leo doesn't do anything for me. I guess Vanessa. Even if it were close I think the names would tilt it towards Vanessa. Am I allowed to gag her?

    4. I don't listen to music much at all except at the gym. In the car I almost exclusively listen to downloaded old episodes of Loveline when Adam Carolla was the host -- hilarious and highly recommended. There I tend to listen to the classics -- anything from Metallica/Iron Maiden to Simon and Garfunkel. I'm not too into any newer music. My girlfriend is an Opera singer, so I listen to that when she is singing around the house or when I go to the Opera.

    .

Underground games. I played at least twice a week at my peak in Toronto. I would choose a club based on rake, location and word of mouth reputation. I would not support game taking an unreasonable rake. My last year or so in Toronto I only played at one club because it was entertaining and I liked the people there. The main reason I played there was that they played O8/S8 (with forced betting and a 1/2 kill, stud with a community card...lots of action) once a week and I love those games/you can't find them live anywhere anymore and they were easy padding to my bankroll. It was only a 4/8 limit with 1/2 kill structure, but I am not lying when I say that the average pot was probably $200+ on most nights with $500+ pots not uncommon. I loved that game...sigh.

If there was any reputation of a club having a chance of getting busted or being run by a scumbag (ie pockets) I would avoid it. It simply wasn't worth the risk given my profession.
Due to this and my absolute refusal to play at a 1/2 game with a $10+ rake or a 5/5 game with an uncapped rake, etc. I've probably only played at 5-6 games around the GTA.

The highest I ever played underground was 5/5 NLH. Although the 2/2 games I played at my regular club had no buy-in cap and at times would have 10k+ on the table with blind straddles of $50+. therookieqq9 is a friend of mine and he used to deal there before playing online for a living...I have many of his monies in my bankroll:) lol donkament pros.

I no longer have my records from back then, but I would probably say I've won 2k in a night at the 2/2 and lost $1500 once in that game. An average win/loss would only be around $300 or so. I really didn't play very high the last year/year and a half I was in Toronto...I had given-up on making much money at that time due to the travel involved in finding decent games and just looked at poker as entertainment and a source of a bit of extra money.

I was never worried about any club I frequented being busted, but I was very selective about where I would play. I never worried about the game being fair. I think you could spot a corrupt game pretty quickly and I knew most of the people running the games I frequented.

    1. I think some are appropriate. Noone in a large city needs a Dogo Argentino or Cane Corso imo. However, I think Pit Bull legislation in Ontario is ridiculous. It is simply a political move to appease special interest groups.
