Anyone planning to play tonight's $180 Freezeout at Brantford besides me?

    Good luck....run good
  • Looks like Brian ended up winning tthe tournament for $13,200. He's a regular and always acts like a gentleman.

Man...I keep calling him David! He must think I'm a real dolt....lol. Yes he is a very nice guy and a deserving winner. We played a couple of tables together throughout the day. He took down a Pokerstars event at Playground a couple of years back for 30k+

Last night at the $180 the dealers were talking about a reg named Dave who won the $550 on Sunday for $13k. I assume this is the person in question.

Okay maybe he goes by Dave (middle name perhaps?). My brother-in law is a Brian David... OLG has him as Brian Bond...I will ask home next time I see him.

    How'd it go last night?
  • Tale of 2 tourneys basically.

Didn't look like it was going to run as there were only 6 players registered at 6:40pm, but we ultimately ended up with 18 players so it was a decent but not great turnout, paying top 3 with $1400 up top.

So we start with 7 players at our table as there were a few late arrivals, and first (or maybe second) hand in I get AT UTG and make it $150. Guy to my immediate left makes it $450 and there are 1 or 2 callers, so I call. Flop comes down ATx with 2 clubs. Yay! I check UTG and V bets around $1100, other fold, and I call. Turn bricks, he bets $2100 and I call. River bricks and I check again, he bets $1700, which I found weird and start to wonder if he hit a set, so I just call and he has AQ. Then it's discovered that he's at the wrong table, which was quite funny. I ran pretty good thru the first couple levels and was probably chipleader, then ran KK into AQ on a QxAJx board and was back down to around starting stack at first break.

Ran pretty good thru the next 4 levels and doubled up with AhTh vs AQ on a Ahh flop and we got it all-in and the board ran out hh. At 2nd break I was 2nd in chips with 7 players left.

We quickly get down to 6 players after break, and I call an early limper with 67 os on the button. BB checks and flop comes 775. BB checks, limper bets, and we both flat. Turn is a 6, giving me the nuts, BB checks again, limper bets, I flat, BB shoves for about $9k, limper folds and I call and we're down to 5 and I'm a close second in chips.

Soon after, we get down to 4 and I have a small chiplead over super-aggro guy to my right, with 2 short stacks to my left. Cards dried up a bit at that point and tried to use my stack and tight image to steal a few pots but got shoved on every time, and had to fold, grinding me down to about 20 bbs but still second in chips. Then I get KQ suited in the bb and the short stack shoved his 8 bbs with KT and he hits trip tens and then I get K4 suited in the SB and it's folded around so I shove and the BB wakes up with AK, so I double him up and am now the short stack with around 6 bbs. Then I get a free look in the bb with K8 and flop K8x. Aggro guy shoves with KT, I call and board runs out 8 K for a counterfit chop. Couple hands later I bust on the bubble.
  • Ain't Karma a bitch!
  • Meh...that sucks card pips. I hate bubbling
  • LOL, I've always called him Dave, and when he expressed interest in Brantford to a friend about our RFS, I was emailed the name "Dave." However, "Brian" shows up in my Contacts app along with his phone number, and "Brian" also shows up in the Playground and HendonMob websites.

It reminds me of some buddy else on HendonMob -

PocketsTwos, I hope you took a screenshot of the OLG winners page to submit to HendonMob as it seems to have skipped over your first place finish, while including the winners after you.
  • En route to Mcphillips station in Winnipeg... the fortune cookie says it's going to be a good night... as long as I find someone to go with:

  • Extremely impressed by Mcphillips Station, one of the nicer rooms I have played in for sure. I've always played at the Regent out here and can't believe I'be been missing out. The room itself is huge, gorgeous, and was very well run.

Played 1/2, two tables going and I was seated within 20 minutes. Great table dynamic with 3 casual players to my right, 2 old nits that were short stacking for 50-60 at a time, a couple of seats that came and went, and then the gem of the table: a 20 something with a huge wad of cash and an addiction to some sort of nose powder, which seemed to be mixing nicely with the flowing alcohol. This guy slowed the game down as he stumbled through literally every action, but no one cared as he was spewing like it was Christmas. Like clockwork, he would overbet bluff when he didnt have it,every time, and in ridiculous spots, and would just as reliably 1/3 pot all value hands (the catch being that any hand that connected was "value.") Was able to pick him off a few times with marginal hands, had KK and AA once each and was able to get value on them, rest of the night was small pots and otherwise uneventful.

Cashed out +320 after the lunatic finally busted, and now I need to sleep for 3 hrs and get up for work.

    Would recommend.

I sent them the info from OLG website including screen shot.. I don't know what they are doing with it. I think they want all the names that cashed and tournament details. Some how Wetts got them to put up his 1st place for awhile ago. I will have to ask him how he did it. One way or the other it doesn't matter too much.

OLG Casino Brantford Recurring Tournaments did not have to do anything.

Agreed, most of my live tournament cashes don't show up on HendonMob, but some will only play tournaments that are submitted online.
  • After I played until 2 am this morning, another member & I are headed to Fallsview tonight. I may stay overnight for $29-$47 at Ramada instead of making the sleepy drive back and forth again on Saturday.

  • See you there and in for the swap.

    Should be leaving by6:30-7pm.

alex is already on his way.
  • and I am home. The QEW was closed and I heard it on the radio just in time to get off and turn around.

hope Buddy isn't in the middle of that traffic radio said it was a parking lot and would be like that for a while.
  • It took almost four times as long to get to Fallsview. With alternate QEW entrances closed too, I had to program my GPS to avoid highways & eventually found an open ramp. There was even open seating at Fallsview :O when I arrived as all the buses and cars were so late.

The first satellite didn't run until after 9 pm, and a total of five sats. ran before they were cut off at 2 am. I just signed up this morning for all the satellites. c5ca54baec4d052c038b25c9b5a21a4c.jpg

  • Casino Niagara trip report: Thursday Dec 3rd

Man things have changed since the bad beat went off. I arrived in time to get on one of the first 2 tables opened at noon. Nothing but regulars. In the 13 hours I sat there I saw only one true fish.

Anyway after the first 4 hours I found myself buying in again for $200 after losing my previous two $150 buy ins already. It was just a weird day of bleeding away seeing flops with decent hands that didn't hit, following draws for the right odds here and there and losing with flopped trips twice.

It very briefly got interesting a short while later when I was down to about $150. UTG straddles, gets a couple callers then throws a big bet taking it down. The guy to his left is a very good controlled player but I see a fire light up in him. He says something along the lines of 'I'm going to do that next hand.' Looking at him it looks like the gambler he had all caged up had broken loose. So he straddles. UTG +2 raises to $16. Fold, fold, then I see pocket aces. 90% of the time I raise here but I decide to call. I have a very tight image at this table and UTG can assume that if I just called I will throw it away to a raise. Folds around to UTG who looks at his cards and then shoves in either $80 or $100. UTG+2 then shoves about $300 and I call for my stack. UTG looks a bit stunned but calls for his remaining $120 or so. UTG+2 turns over KK, I turn my aces and UTG turns over 9 7 off suit I think. Aces hold. I get aces again the next hand for a smaller pot and find myself up $5 on the day.

So 2 hands of fun then back to the rough day. I'm playing well though, getting out of the way when I'm beat, mostly just bleeding where I should be playing but not hitting.

About the 11 hour mark things started to improve. The level of play at the table was quite high.

UTG is an excellent technical player who has consistently been betting his decent hands all day. I'm starting the hand at about the $200 mark. He calls the BB and I am next to act raising it to a meek $8 with my pocket Kings. 5 people see the flop (crap). Flop comes 8 8 6. UTG comes out swinging for $20. It took me about 2 secs to fold my kings and be done with the hand. Everyone else folded too and he showed his 8 3.

Not too long after got into it with the guy who had KK to my AA earlier. UTG he raises to $11. I had moved seats so I am SB. One caller before me and I see AA again and raise it up to $30. UTG calls as does the other caller. Flop comes 10 8 A rainbow. I bet out $30 which is small to the pot size trying to disguise my hand. Call fold. Turn comes blank but a second club. Time to get a little more serious with the 2nd club out there so I make it $60 which is again a small bet to the pot. I probably should have made it $90 but it didn't matter. river comes blank and I put the remaining $120 in and he insta-calls... then loses it when I turn over my tripped aces to his tripped 8s. Nasty flop.

Then the last 2 hours I was doing everything right. My bluffs were well timed and convincing, my hero calls were on point and my reads were bang on. Plus because I showed my bluffs people were calling more of my bets when I had something.

For an example of a good read a good and very observant player to my left was in a hand with me. I dont think there was any raise preflop. Flop comes A K J with 2 diamonds. Check, check, I bet $15. Guy to my left doesn't take long to make a standard raise and the others fold. I take about 10 seconds then say "what do you have K J"? Then fold my A 6 face up and he chuckles and turns over K J.

After 13 hours I ended up $230. Not bad considering the day.

I'm currently averaging $25 per hour at the Niagara $1/2 in 2015 but I'm thinking that's going to drop some now due to the changes to the room mix after the bad beat was won. I would love to do more Friday and Saturday nights but that's probably not in the cards.

Should I consider switching to $2/5 at Fallsview? Is there a better mix of players there due to the WPT satellite activities?
  • Just like I suggested to another forum member years ago, you should at least take the shot, especially on Friday nights or Saturdays. I only see one member in the packed 17-table room when I go there on weekends, the same lone wolf since 2006.
Should I consider switching to $2/5 at Fallsview?
  • Staying in a NF hotel for < $45 (incl. 2 Wine Country Touring passes to 4 wineries, etc.) worked out so well last weekend that I will book again this Friday night. Anybody else headed to Fallsview this weekend, with the BBJ at over $48,000?
See you there and in for the swap.
    Should be leaving by6:30-7pm.
alex is already on his way.
  • will be there early on Friday. should be there by 3pm won't be staying super late but should be there till 10pm.
  • @The_awesome

I don't have a lot of cash game experience but I definitely recommend taking a stab at the 2/5 game, it can be very profitable and doesn't play all that differently from 1/2 based on what I've seen.
  • BlondeFish, when do typically arrive at Fallsview and how long do you typically have to wait to play?

The one thing I like about Niagara is on a Friday I can call in at 10:30am on my drive in and have a seat at the opening at noon. I hate waiting around as I'm not much of a gambler.

Also has anyone here stayed at the Best Western Fallsview across the street from the Fallsview casino?
  • I never go that early on weekdays, but as long as you phone ahead and arrive within 90 minutes, you will usually be on top of the list. Since the satellite system is the most inefficient that I have ever seen in the world, :( I have learned to bring a poker book or tablet in case.

  • Fallsview was very good last night. I stayed at the same 2-5 table all nigt because people were donking off their stacks with middle pair and ace high. I was fairly card dead for the first 5 or 6 hours. Started with 500 and had topped up for another 200.

i was sitting at just over 800 when i have pocket 8's on the button and i had been raising about 90% of my buttons very light. I get 4 callers then a maniac goes for a squeeze play and pumps my $25 raise to $125. Ends up three of us see the flop and there is already over$400 in the pot.

Flop comes 3,3,8 two spades. the guy who reraised throws in $325 next to act shoves and has both of us covered. I call and the original bettor calls too.

aces vs ace king of spades and i can only loose to the case ace.........nope guy beside me tells me he folded it. Weeeeeeeee.

I count eveything up $2505 in the pot.

The very next time i am the button i wake up with pocket aces. Raise my usual $25. Big blind reraises to 80 there are two callers before it gets back to me. I make it $225 big blind shoves his whole stack was just over $600 and one other guy calls for around $500. I call.

flop comes 7,9,2 rainbow turn 9 river 9

big blind flips over pocket kings and other guy had pocket tens.

    Weeeeeeeee.

I get up rack my chips and drive home happy.

Hope Buddy did well in the satellites he played. Looked like he went deep in one as i was leaving.
  • Good shit lol that's a pretty amazing profit
