Gambling never was or is a problem for me, It was the effect that it had on others that made me want to quit. The whole incident of seeing a guy in tears at the GBH was pretty sad to see, and I didn't really like being a part of something that promoted that. & Yes, I know there is 5/10 & 10/20. I'm just looking to play with a few friends or join-up with somebody, I play for fun. Its kind of boring sitting at a table with a bunch of people who don't talk because they think there "Poker Pros" whilst staring you down like there an MMA fighter or something. Which for them is meaningless as most of the players at the GBH 5/10 are clueless donks who refuse to admit when they made a bad play, and truly believe they are good....Which is great for me as I have won over $700 in less then 12 trips there.
You have the right idea Colin.I have only been ther twice as i dont like the set up.Poor lighting bad dealers and the way you have to buy chips from the dealer. Most of the people playing 5/10 are regs and trying to grind out a $50 or $100 win and go crazy when you river them.

Just trying to help, thats all. Good luck on any other trips to the GBH.
  • I will be at the GBH this Wednesday to play 5-10 or 10-20... Feel free to join me or say hey! It should be a pretty soft/profitable game with me at the table struggling to count my outs :p:)
  • I was thinking before I make my trip to the poker tables, I will play exactly one hand of +EV Blackjack(Impossible right??).. I will be using my $5 Matchplay coupon to use on 1 hand. It will cost me 5 Dollars to see a pot of 20, with a 43% chance of winning that hand...43% chance of winning with 4-1 pot odds?!?! That has to be Blondefish approved!
  • Wait until you see me at GBH before using the coupon. I will give you the WPT UK hat, "Dusk Till Dawn Nottingham" chip and Harrah's WSOP Poker Room chip that you requested. The DTD chip will be a nice card protector for you since it doesn't look like any other chips I've seen (unless you prefer to keep it in your home collection).

  • I will be at brandford tomorrow for $180 freeze out tourney at 7pm. Any1 wanna meet for a beer :)? Im newbie on this forum but wanna meet new canadian players >.<.
  • Just walked in at Niagara - last minute decision.

4 tables running with a decent list and another table about to open. Could be a good night - BBJ is at $30k, which normally draws a crowd.

If you're on the fence, I say call ahead and come on down.
  • On my way..
  • I did Niagara on Sunday. Was down $200 at one point but ended up plus $200 after 6 hours.
  • Comp is crushing it. What else is new?
  • Well, as promised, it was a really good day to be at the tables. Lots of loose and aggro play all around. I was at the same table for the whole session, and saw several guys go up and down like a toilet seat, even as high as $600, and then give it all away. Awesome!

It was very difficult to bluff, as several players just could not fold any pair, so it was a day of patience and value betting. For example, one guy called my $85 shove into a $60 pot, on the turn, with a naked flush draw and no overs. Another guy called me down on every street for a total of about $100 with third pair, no kicker.

I got max value out of a flopped flush, and stacked a LAG who just couldn't fold his aces for about $300, $160 of which was on the river after he didn't improve.

Had 2 close call on the BBJ:

KK on a board of A28AA, with villain betting into me the entire way, but he was trying to rep the A with KQ.

6d8d on a board of Kd 9d 7d Td 3s. Moderate betting all the way down with a bet-raise-call on the river. Villain had QdJh.

Overall, was up $500 on the night and probably could have had a couple hundred more if any of my 20+ pps hit a set. Comp cashed out +$250.

    Good night for the forumers.
  • As Card Dead said it was a pretty good night at Niagara, so what else is new, it virtually always is. I can't believe that people will really donate like that. The Christmas spirit of giving was still in full force. More than doubled up early with JJ on a flop of AKJ rainbow. I called $15. behind early position raiser and 2 callers. Bricks on both turn and river. Raiser bets $30. flop and $60. river, I shove river (after appropriate theatrics of course) and after some deliberation he calls with AK. Pretty standard really.
Up and down the rest of the night, never below $300. never above $600. Could have been much better, when we left stacks at my table were mostly short with only one over $200.
Crazy that you now have to go upstairs to the main cage to buy chips for 1st buy in AND rebuys. Looks like several of the regs have taken to keeping blacks in their pockets to sell for non-regs rebuys. Food was good that we had part way through, thanks Card Dead.
Will go again, not because of customer service, only the bad play.
  • Anybody want to come for a drive to Fallsview tomorrow (SAT) .

Probably leaving from Mississauga early afternoon.
  • Heading to Niagara again tonight for some more +ev at the 1-2 tables.

    Anyone?... Anyone?... Buehler?

40K bad beat? crazies? Yes.. in.... others?
  • I went to Niagara yesterday for some more 1-2 fun. Turned out to be a grind as for the first 6 hours I was completely card dead. Unfortunately that included some decent starting hands here and there to bleed my stack. But the flops wouldn't even come close. At about the 6 hour mark I was down about $350. Fortunately I hung around long enough for a 4 hand heater and then another hour of playable hands. I ended up +$130 for the day. Too bad I had dug such a deep hole first or it would have been a very profitable day.

I think I prefer Saturdays. Yesterday the table was mostly half decent regulars whereas when I have played Saturdays in the past I have seen some terrible players sit down and donate.
  • Going to Fallsview this afternoon. Will be there most of the night.
  • Ya me too been grinding cash all thurs and fri going to play some 245s today when they run. Ill prolly start off at cash again tho lol
  • Fallsview is a zoo this weekend. Sattys running too.

I was there last weekend on sunday. They had 3 tables of 1/2 running from 6am to 2pm. At 2 they opened up 3 more tables as they had 60 people on the list. They had an interest list for 2/5 but nothing materialized.

Got busier as the day went on.

They are pushing all the action from fallsview over to casino niagara because of the series.
  • Are any of you going to Niagara?
  • I ended up at Niagara tonight. Showed up at 4:45pm and was on a table by 5pm, called ahead of course. There were 5 tables running when I got there and by 8pm, all 9 tables were full.

They were just starting to break up a table when I left at 1pm. Play has not changed much, a lot of loose, passive play. Just wait for a hand and get paid, or get 3 or 4 outed.

I was doing well and up to $400 in front of me, from my initial $200 starting stack. Then a CANNON sat to my right, perfect spot.

First hand I saw him play, he shipped $110 into a pot of $20, with 7-7 and was snapped off by A-A and he lost his stack, went and reloaded it back to $100. Then a group of his friends came by and wanted him to leave so he shipped all in on the SB and I went all in over top of him with A-Ks. Board runs of T-J-9-4-8 and he flips over K-Tos for a pair of tens.

He stays and plays some more and I get whittled down to about $200 again when he ships all in again for about a $100 and I look down at A-K again. I call, hit my Ace on the flop and Cannon is gone for the night, he had J-J.

My final hand of the night had me call a $10 preflop raise on the button with 8-9s, with 7 callers. $70 in the pot preflop. Flop is 6-7-T rainbow. They all check to me and I bet $40. One caller. Pot is now $150 - turn is an Ace - checks to me and I bet $80, guy re-raises me all in and I snap call, of course.

He flips over A-Tos for two pair, to my straight. Of course, you know where this is going. River is a bloody Ten, he goes runner, runner for a boat to beat my flopped straight. Would have been a nice profit for the evening had it held.
