There are indeed some ridiculously loose small-stakes NL cash game players. The real problem is that in many cases, the players who make the loosest pre-flop decisions are the same players who are unable to get away from mediocre flopped hands. If you limp (or actually CALL a raise) with a hand like 5s7s, and the flop comes 7d 2c 3c, and there's some heavy betting, you need to be able to get away from your top pair. It probably isn't good. You entered the pot to try and see a flop like: 4c 6d Js, or 5h 5s Ad, or Kc 7d 5h, or As Ks 9h, etc etc etc etc. You did not enter the pot to try and see a seven-high flop. It's important to realize that even though you have the sevens, your plan has failed. Fold.
Like I said, the problem isn't so much the loose preflop calls (although as we see, it is a problem for these players) but rather their inability to get away from flops that hit them only a little bit. A lot of skilled players call preflop raises with these types of hands (see Dave Scharf's most recent trip report for examples of this) but these skilled players are also capable of making laydowns.
very true very true. I was playing .10 .25 yesterday and called a min raise with my k10off, with the raiser and the other blind. The flop came down k rag rag all off. I made a 1 raise, and got re raised 4$. Had to lay it down, and the guy even shows me his KQ suited. I find it easy to play smart poker like that, but where i lose my money is betting a flsuh off the flop with my suited connectors and getting 2 callers. Then betting a huge over bet on the turn to get rid of the fool with a K or A of the suite, and he calls and low and behold a 4th suited card hits the river. Or today i had to sweat out my all in with trips off the flop against a king high flush draw, who called my raise of 13 $ on top of his re raise of 3 to 5 total. * i get scared of noobies in love with their flush draws, yet never learn that they almost always call.
For those who want to know how to get on TV for poker just Private message me, I seem to get on everynight so I could give you advice and direction on how to get on. (I'm Patchy1984)
Devo, I got a huge kick the other night when you called me an Aggressive monkey. Almost as much as when Tina used my terminology for a maniac player (A nutbar - simply meaning a player who plays like they have the nuts all the time, bar they prevent good poker action). I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one that emails often, the show is probably the best poker show i have ever seen. I would like to think my improvement in play should be credited 35% Devo, 15% Johnny T, 20% Seeing all the whole cards, 25% watching my opponents, and 5% Tina's hotness. How does Tina's hotness improve my play? I don't know, i think i just wanted to say Tina was hot. Or maybe the percentages didn't add up. One of those two.
Devo you should show up and play a game vs us regulars around 9pm (usually the first game shown on TV) or earlier.

You're doing a great job hosting, keep up the good work.
Thanks! My last episode for a while is tonight... I head out to Halifax tomorrow. PNL shoots Wed. to Sun., so even though I'll be back on Monday, I'll actually be away from the show for an entire week.Â

VN laydown.
That would be interesting... it would be amusing if Johnny and Tina decided I was the biggest fish at the table.
Or, you guys could come and find me in one of the SNG's I normally play.Â
