NLHE A,B,C,D,E,F
Stud A,B,C
Omaha D,E,F
LHE A,B,D
Draw C,E,F
For a specific game, say Stud, you would have 3 tables of 9 or 10 (depending on # of teams), and if we have 6 tables, you could run 2 events in parallel. Although depending on which game each teams players choose, the 2 events could conflict. It would probably make more sense to have "offset" matches which the teams could sign up for, so run 2 Stud, 2 Omaha, 1 Limit, and 1 draw in parallel. Next round run 1/1/2/2, and the teams can assign players to non-conflicting events. I can help with planning the day's schedule if you need it (once you determine #/type of games).

I also think this is a great idea and would probably suit people better than having to play in each of the different formats
Obviously the NLHE and LHE are pretty straight forward to run but for the other games there seem to be things that need to be decided.
For example, is the Omaha going to be limit, PL or NL?
If we go with the draw poker will it be 5 card draw (if so what restrictions), 2-7 triple draw, or some other variation?
For Stud, how are we going to solve the 9-10 player issue, since you can't play Stud with more than 8?
I'm not saying this is the best idea, but my first thought for this (works best with 10) is to split the table in half
and play down to 8 - probably not the best idea because this would be a lot of shorthanded play at the start,
but the best I can come up with at this moment.
Hello everyone.....I have some exciting news I wanted to share with everyone. I have been in contact with a new poker magazine "Top Pair" and have convinced them to sponsor the event with magazines for everyone, plus lots of goodies for door prizes etc... But even better is they are going to let me put together an article on the event which they will put in an upcoming issue of their magazine. So we will have pics and an article in the magazine!!!! Pretty Cool Eh ?
Thats great news Dave! That also raises another issue though, which is our name for this match. I think there might be a potential problem with calling it the Ryder Cup of Poker, as Ryder Cup is already copyrighted. I'm not a law expert or anything, but I'm wondering if this might cause a problem potentially.
I have read through all the threads and have decided to go with the following. This takes in to consideration a bunch of different suggestions from all. We have a venue that can accommodate more people then first thought. But still in an effort to keep this medium sized and a one day event here is the line up.
There will be 10 teams consisting of 8 players per team. $400 Entry fee per team. Totaling $4000. This works out to $50 per player.
Payouts TBD
This event is rake free.
Each team must have their money in by Feb. 1/06. We will start a waiting list for alternate teams and they will be bumped into the event if money is not received by Feb. 1/06. This is in an effort to ensure we have no late drop outs. Full team lineups will be due Feb. 11/06.Â
If anyone would like to submit an alternate team please PM me and I will add you to the list.
A full day of poker would consist of
1)Â Â 8 - 10 man NL Hold em SNGs with one player from each team competing at each table.Â
2)Â Â 8 - 10 man Fixed Limit Hold em SNGs with one player from each team competing at each table.Â
3)Â Â 5 - 8 man Fixed Limit 7 Card Stud SNGs.
4)Â Â 4 - 10 man Pot Limit Omaha SNGs with one players from each team competing at each table.Â
5) Finally 40 Head Up NL tournaments to finish the competition.
Each team member must play in the Fixed Hold em, NL Hold em and one of the Stud or Omaha SNGs. Also everyone must represent their team in a heads up battle.
We will be starting with the Stud and Omaha games first then the fixed limit SNGs then go to the NL and Heads Up to complete the day.
Again this would make for a good 12 hour session of poker.
The Team with the most points will be crowned the True Poker Capital.
If there is a tie for any position a tie breaker Heads Up game will be played.
Â
Now the geographic locations for the teams would be as follows
Toronto
Kitchener 1
Kitchener 2
Waterloo 1
Waterloo 2
Guelph including Fergus/Rockwood and surrounding area
Cambridge
Milton/Oakville
London
Toronto 2 << The venue will be submitting a team for this event.
The date will be Feb. 18/06 Doors will open at 11:00 with the first round of SNGs starting at 12:00. The location will be the west side of Toronto. I will be going to take a look at it this week and then forward the address to the team captains.
Sponsorship thus far is looking good and I am still in talks with a couple online sites about adding to the prize pool.
We should have prizes for Best Individual Point Getter as well as best hands in each discipline.
Anyone interested in trying to arrange booking hotel rooms for us out of towners. It would be great if all Teams could stay at the same hotel. Or, once someone books perhaps they could post here so others could try and book for the same place. Just a thought....
I will be going ot the venue in the next day or two and I will note the hotels/motels in the area and do some comparisons and send it to the Team Captains. Will let you know by the end of the week.

NO stp they will be small trophies or plaques to each team member. I can bring a 40 of CROWN for team toronto to celebrate their victory and I'm sure we can give the waterlosers a sniff.....
