  • Thank God for this info. You have saved countless forumers who were contemplating splitting an apartment with Kim potentially thousands of dollars and tons of heart ache.

But why bury this in an unrelated thread? It deserves its own to stand as a warning to others who may fall victim to her conniving ways.

It is now in CardPlayer and 2+2. Hopefully that is good enough for you. :p I don't expect Kim Shannon to return to the next WPT event that actyper and I are going to.
  • Sigh, there was an overlay tonight & I messaged the forumers I happened to be already chatting with, but they weren't able to register in time & the guaranteed tourney was cancelled. :(
Does anybody I know want to get an instant alert when there is a highly +EV overlay online? A bunch of GUARANTEED tournaments at partypoker continue to be cancelled because there are not enough savvy players who registered in time.
  • What trny was it? I've been playing for the past several hours, and watching Mike Leah on the live stream, you should have msg'd me
  • While the inaugural WPT500 at Aria was a fun novelty, the next WPT500 at UK seems to have gone way overboard:

    - While WPT500 Aria had a maximum of six re-entries, it looks like WPT500 UK will keep charging the full rake for up to FOURTEEN re-entries. :o

    - While Matt Savage ensured that the terrible SAME-day re-entry format was not used at WPT500 Aria and we could only re-enter for the next day, the Dusk Till Dawn casino is allowing same-day re-entry :( for all seven days of WPT500 UK.

    - The last-chance Turbo flight used to have 20 minute blinds listed, but it has now been changed to only 15 minutes. :frown: This means that players won't even get to play a full orbit before the cost per round escalates yet again. In my final hand at Aria when I got 3-outered, the couple of all-in hands took up the entire level.

As Matt said, “Not only do re-entries hurt the industry, and hurt poker players, it affects other parts of the casino. If you have multiple entries within the same heat of an event, you lose players in the cash games, you lose players in the satellites, and you might miss bringing them back to the tournament the next day. When players are blowing their bankrolls on one tournament, they’re not going to come back to play your other events.”

I have contacted various WPT and UK casino reps, but only Matt and Allen Kessler have replied so far.
  • 14 starting flights seems like a lot, but why do you always talk about "full rake"? Each entry in a next-day re-entry is a unique entity - how much are they supposed to pay? And why should one player pay a different amount than another for the exact same service.

I agree with you on same-flight re-entry - there's a name for that: rebuy. Or there should be.
  • Rebuy would have no additional rake. It's similar to getting dry anal raped by the cash game rake in Montreal.
  • GTA Poker is correct. The rebuy/add-on format is much better than the terrible re-entry format since 100% of the rebuys and add-ons goes to the players' prize pool. For players that spent a total of $100,000 in a rebuy/add-on event, only ~$3K would not go back to the players. For the re-entry format, ~$12,700 would not go back to players, or four times as much. :o It's great for the casino, but obviously not good for the players, who will go busto or reach their "I quit poker" threshold faster.

  • There have been a lot of overlays in the guaranteed satellites for the U$5,000 WPT UK Nottingham. The event is in the UK on November 18-23 with a guaranteed prize pool of ~C$1.8 million. Unfortunately, I have been all alone in many of these satellites, and unless there are at least three players are registered four minutes before the start, partypoker cancels these guaranteed tournaments. :'(

In case anybody else is willing and able to take a shot at the C$1.8 million prize pool, the satellite times include (from latest to earliest): 22:45, 21:25, 19:15, 18:05, 17:25, 15:30, 14:15, 13:25, 12:15, 11:25, 10:20, 8:55, 7:50 and 4:55.

  • Boycott Re-entry Tournaments!

As long a people are stupid enough to enter Re-entry tournaments casinos will offer them.

    Refuse to play re-entry tournaments!
  • 'Re-entry tournaments are better for good poker players than rebuys.'

    Discuss.

Unfortunately, greedy casinos have unleashed the re-entry virus to most of their tournaments, including WPT Main Events, :bs: so MTT players like me have to play some, or quit poker. I was one of the minority who spoke out against the re-entry format when Matt Savage first proposed it on 2+2 years ago, but he now admits, 'I really wish I would of [sic] patented "reentry" so I could at least charge for it or get others to "cease and desist!"'

The rebuy/add-on format is my favourite, :h: but I avoid playing re-entry tournaments. Since a lot more of the players' buy-ins go to the casino instead of the player with the re-entry format, then less money goes to both good and bad players. My ROI is higher with the rebuy format, as there are additional strategies to use when there are rake-free rebuys and add-ons.
  • Well, at least you are willing to discuss it.

I think there's a lot more to it than simply greed. I believe mikebyl explained it pretty well done time ago.
  • WPT500 satty's are on now for this year on Party
