I have now added this event as one of my poker goals this summer. I will play the online satellites until I win at least one package, then take my family to Aria sometime between June 30 - July 7.
A forum member & I were laughing at the WPT National Kazakhstan package where the travel and spending money to Kazakhstan is only $450, so we hope that it's going to be WPT National Alberta next week.
Unfortunately, there is still no "mayhem" for me to play as of April 25.
Unlike all the previous packages where the extra packages I won would be credited in tournament dollars, PartyPoker will make you play up to six Day 1s and packages!
$635 of the package is for four nights at ARIA and hospitality. ARIA's rates have gone up from $103-$191/night for a 2 Queen bed room when I checked yesterday to up to $294/night today, probably because of PartyPoker's group bookings. I got a quote of $938 from the Aria website (plus rip-off $28/night resort fees) for the four nights of July 3-6.

I got the same disappointed feeling when all the best OPT satellites for the withholding-free events get cancelled (PCA, Playground, Aruba).
As Mike Matusow & others have warned, the re-entry format is terrible; having up to 12 stacks over 6 days opens up cheating & other questionable actions. In order to minimize the possibility of another Chipgate like Borgata, ARIA should use more than one chip set. Matt Savage (or whoever the WPT TD will be) needs to have the dealers verify then reconcile chip counts at the end of each of the 6 Day 1s, which will be hardest after the 6th Day 1 on July 6, when you can only take your biggest stack through on the SAME DAY!
What will WPT ARIA do if there are a lot of chips unaccounted for after 1A or other Day 1?

Oh and good chance he'll also be TD so that's great news as well.
I assume he meant this is to decide on what the last blind level will be, but I would think that all 6 days would have to end on the same level even if there are > 6% or < 4% left on the Turbo or any other Day 1, so all survivors can continue at the next level on Day 2?

As for playing down to 5% I've seen many tourneys ignore the level the roll back blinds to adjust, pretty sure this works here??

I'm told to expect the sats up very, very soon and that they will be promoted aggressively as everyone wants to see this one soar.
I've also had some good questions for Mr. Savage and triple checked that you can actually bust Day 1 ITM as 12% pays but only 5% advances to finals. Put another way, it is possible to cash 6 times in this event.
Kind of like "go rounds".
He also wrote on 2+2 thread that blinds roll back to lowest level completed, by all flights, so think we can cross that one off too.
There is a WPT Steps Challenge, but Party's 6-player Steps are much worse than PokerStars' Steps, and unplayable. Even the $500 final Step has only 2K starting chips, only 4-minute blinds, Skill Level = 0, Patience Factor < 1. WTF?! :arghh: It made my Patience Factor go to zero and that's why I've been playing the juicy live games instead, until the shareholder and player protests force improvements.
The final Turbo flight will be the most interesting. The Accumulator format is another one that is much better than the re-entry format.
Not necessarily, and I doubt they would try it for this event - this format discourages people from playing unless they can play all flights, they feel they're at a disadvantage compared with the field.
At least with a NDRE you know that on Day 2, everyone is starting with at most one day's worth of accumulated chips. If even a few people accumulate through multiple flights in an Accumulator, the perception is that those people have a much greater advantage.
It's a perception problem more than a real problem, but still perception is reality when you're talking tournament buy-ins.
