Your troll posts are the epitome of wit.

only 14 outs, but your getting 9x return on your money?

I think you just forgot which side of the "argument" you are trolling on?

Greg, always the voice of reason. You know, I start these threads to drum up new topics on this site on the expectation that some forum members might have a different perspective. Obviously I would never fold AA in this situation and was taking this stance that I would, to see if it would lead to some interesting level of discussion. So much for that.

If you wanted some interesting level of discussion, whether or not to fold AA preflop is not a good topic. Neither is a topic like "how do you maximize value with a royal flush" just because it comes up so rare that misplaying it and not being able to squeeze that extra few chips from the pot will not kill your game completely.

    Just my 2 cents.

You were trolling and got exactly what you were looking for,

You sit down at a new table, every player starts with $100 (say $1/$2 NLH). You are in the big blind and get dealt AA. 9 other players at the table and they all go all-in pre-flop. Action is to you, do you call or fold?

Being the devil's advocate, I would FOLD in this situation. What, are you f'ck mad ?? Yes, I would fold. Against 9 random hands, I am likely dominated. You can tell me to your black and blue in the face that I have pot odds to call, etc., etc. Personally, I think you make your money in a cash game after the flop.

I be interested to see if someone could provide statistics of their cash game play to see how much they have earned for all-in pre-flop hands vs hands that went to the flop.

    Thoughts?
You could lay AA down here if variance would cause you extreme grief. For example, your rent was due tomorrow morning and was $105 and your last $100 was in front of you. A win would give you almost 10 months rent while a loss would result in eviction and divorce. However, you could easily (and by that I mean more like and with less variance) grind out a $5 profit and leave the table and pay your rent.

This really illustrates the "gambling" aspect of poker which for some reason people tend to discount. And this is where bankroll management comes into play. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you have to turn down a +EV play because a loss would cripple you, you have bad bankroll management.

The best poker player ever had the worst bankroll management ever as well: Stu Ungar. Drugs didn't help but he would regularly run his roll down to zero. He was a true "gambler". He would risk everything he owned on a 55/45 edge.

I'm not really on either side, I am more interested in the general discussion of the thread. OK, since this thread is considered 'trolling', Greg please remove it so as to not waste any other forum members time.

No, actually I think it should be stickied to glorify your greatness to the forum.

    - if facing KK-55, with only 14 possible outs
Uhh, where do you get 14 outs? Your ahead, you have to avoid the 18 outs of your opponents, OR hit one of your 2 outs for the 5 board cards, correct? This ignores the effect of flushes, str8's, Quads, etc. Figuring all that out % wise is too hard on my feeble mind. That's why pokerstove is your friend.
  • so change the discussion to 'can you fold KK/QQ/AKs' and it becomes a bit more legit
  • But eight jack beats eight six and I bemoan my fate
  • Or a late ace for Broadway and I feel such a rush

I was referring to a reply to this thread (see above). The 14 outs was not my view.
Like GTA, I give up... Quit trolling...
  • But the ace was a spade which gave someone a flush

I guess my reply to your question is considered trolling.

    Please BAN this idiot.
  • Why must you torment me, O draws of no use
  • I enjoy GTA's post and I find it extremely doubtful he hasn't contributed a lot of high quality advice to the forum.

You pokerJAH, seem to be a pretty nice guy, but I honestly can't recall the slightest bit of useful poker advice you've provided.

And don't ask me to back this shit up with references. I don't care to search through a thousand old posts. This is just my general view on different forumers, built by reading every post made on the forum since I joined.

    /g2
  • Ok guys, please cool it a bit, no ones getting banned for anything so far.... We can disagree but please try to avoid the personal stuff. Supposedly we're all grown ups here..

Well, you mix in 20 posts of "you're an idiot" and another 20 of, "I was trying to be an idiot so you're an idiot" and things just add up....
