Exactly Westside. I can tell you must play there and you understand the frustration that we go through. The problem is they need to start listening to the customer(player) instead of giving excuses like 13 cards. I can surely tell he works there.
Yes he does. He is one of the suits there (if I'm not mistaken).
<BEAT>Unfortunately I have the restriction of only playing at FV as I am not legal across the border.
<BRAG>I have yet to experience anything terrible or anything that I have read about on this forum
I have come to terms with Fallsview...sorta like LT. Dan in the Forrest Gump movie. When he jumps out of the boat and comes to terms with God.
I feel the same way. I have given up trying to suggest ways to improve fallsview and like gas prices, nothing will change until we stop using it.
Every Saturday the room is still filled with people playing poker. The minority of players that actually want to see improvement to the room does not outweigh the fish that just finished watching WPT Canada earlier that morning and decided to go play.
I still hear people walking up to the desk asking "What does no limit mean" or "Are you guys running any tournaments today"
This one is my favorite
"I want to play X limit game, what should I buy in with...." HAHAHAHAHA.....
Probably the biggest IRK for me is that they will take your $6 session fee while your gone for dinner. It's bad enough that you need to play a week to get comp'd a buffet but you then PAY for the buffet and the poker room charges you to be gone.
I have said my piece when I've played there. My latest trip to NF didn't include a trip to FV but to Niagara where I played only for 2.5 hours or so. It was an early morning session with players who had been up all night. Given that it was raked I don't mind half as much if players take their time etc. There is no incentive during a session fee for the "casino" to encourage timely play.
Personally the best poker room within a close proximity to the GTA is turning stone. The dealers keep their own tips (a big plus), put up with no crap from players, and keep the games running quickly and smoothly. The dealers wash the cards for every deal with no shufflers and you get in more hands per hour than anywhere else I"ve played.
My biggest complaint with Turning stone is the lack of communication between the hotel and poker room if you are playing tournaments etc and getting their poker rate. That has been documented on the forum by me.
Also during tournaments their blind clocks etc aren't always in the best spot for viewing in their large ball rooms. One TV in one corner when you have 50 -60 tables in a ball room isn't sufficient.
There are more undergrounds that I could recommend for GTA players than FV. I would also recommend Rama before going to FV.
The biggest plus is fallsview and NIagara allow phone ins. If Rama did that it would be awesome. (Rama are you listening?)
As far as Moose goes, I have known moose for over 20 years. I have played cards with him in casinos, in pubs while drinking, at his house, my house, and many other places. He would be the type of player that is always welcome. I don't understand singling him out. Certainly enough others have noted their experiences in Niagara Falls.
I have also made my peace with Fallsview. I love the Lt from Forest Gump analogy.
Fallsview Survival Guide.
1. Plan your playing time. If you want to play at 10 PM Saturday Night .. come at 4 PM, Phone in at 2:30 PM... 1-888-WIN-FALL. This way you'll sit right down and play.
Don't expect to find a seat at the busiest time of the week. Don't complain to me when you have to wait five hours.
2. You are there to play stupid players. That's your job. Don't complain to me when they act stupid. It's part of the program.. deal with it.
3. You are there to play annoying players who would *never* ever get invited to private games. That's your job. Don't complaint to me when they act with no social inhibition whatsoever.
4. Let your legs do the lifting when you carry your racks to the cage. Don't put your back out.
5. I was wrong about session fee's. The $6 or $7 per half hour that you pay is meant to be wasted.... completely ... just forget about it. Don't stress about it. Paying 2.6 BB / hour or about ten big blinds per 100 hands in a 2/5NL game would make it impossible to win on the internet ... but this ain't the internet.
6. Dealers are human, They will make mistakes. They will misread the board. They will misread players hands. They will try to push the pot to the wrong person. Pay attention. If you can't read the board or can't read your hand or other players hands, then you better learn. Dealers will make adding mistakes. Dealers will make mistakes with side pots. Pay attention! Learn to add. It's a really useful skill that almost nobody at my tables can do.
7. Bring lots of $100 black chips to the table in your pocket. It's not unreasonable to have $3000 in black chips in your pocket to buy cash from fish. It speeds up the game because every dealer won't have to recount the wad of 20's that the fish bring to the table after losing their buyin.
8. Find someone good to run with. Talking to Blondfish is very +EV. It helps me a lot and makes it more fun. I'm usually wearing my black leather cowboy hat or a Phil Laak unibomber gray hoodie. Come by and say, "Sup Eh?" or , "Hi"
My only complaint about Fallsview is that there is very rarely LHE being played .
I hardly ever go despite it being only a half hour away. Also, my brother works there (security) so I don't want to complain too much.

POTW! You need to join the forum trip to Las Vegas next month, then we can co-author a book with SirWatts.

7. Be sure to buy your chips at the cage before you start playing, or after you have to go to the ATM. When I exchange my black chips for $100 bills, one of the quick ways to check the bill is to hold it to the light then the "100" symbol becomes solid.

ReefAquarium and I would never waste $12 getting charged to eat. I take my chips away, put myself on the phone-in list, then take a leisurely meal and break.
9. It seems to be a rarely mentioned secret, but get your player's card swiped before you sit down and be sure to swipe out before you leave the casino. Earning ~40¢/hour is a lot better than nothing; several forumers and I have enjoyed free meals together that would have been expensive. Around 3 AM, a supervisor is supposed to ask the players to re-swipe but very rarely do (always done at Seneca Casino), so get your card re-swiped if you don't want to get credited zero hours for your long sessions. After a re-swiped session, I sometimes verify that the correct number of hours were credited.

I can no longer agree with this. With the police mis-prioritizing poker games instead of more serious crimes, underground games are now the worst option. If you can't organize or find rake-free legal games, it is a lot better to carpool or take the free bus to Niagara/Rama (or any casino) than wait for that inevitable night when you will get stormed by dozens of tactical officers. Ask any of the 66 players charged last Wednesday if it was worth the "convenience" of playing in an underground.
As far as Moose goes,
Just like the $100 Casino Brantford tournament, every forumer in the GTA should at least play once at Fallsview/Niagara Casino to see why blackmagicz, ReefAquarium and I have made peace with the casino.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to get a clarification on the differences between the two.

Yes...scary but true....
If you call the cops we'll all be charged as found ins
