Wow, you've got some refined tastes. Pizza and wings not good enough for ya?
That was a rough nights sleep. Can someone make a Timmies run? On a side note it's much more fun having a coffee again since the Roll up the Rim (RIGGED) promo is over.
Although ass kissing and tipping may well move you up the list at Seneca, our electronic list is there for everyone to see where they are on the lists (top 14 names only) and when there is a seat available for the next person.
I am sorry if you were under the impression you had to kiss ass; you don't, you just have to be patient.
I beg to differ. I have seen, and been told/admitted by a couple of regulars there that they are placed at the top of the list when they arrive to play and therefore bypass the 30-40 names on the waiting list.
You know what? That was actually an interesting post from 13Cards. I do not believe it for a second, but it was interesting. I salute you with a tepid, leftover beer, sir. As most of the regulars seem to have headed over to Buzzardd's for a game, I will just get back to straightening up the place for the inevitable mayhem to come . . .
I apoligize. I did not say that there are not circumstances that do allow players to be seated "out of order" of the lists. This does happen. It does not require tipping (which suits cannot accept) or ass-kissing. Although there would be too many cicumstances to list here, an example would be a VIP player coming from the Salon after dumping $30,000 playing baccarrat, that player MAY receive special treatment as dictated by higher-ups. If this seems unreasonable to you, I am sorry; running a business like this encompasses more than just the poker rooms needs but the whole facilities needs.
Well..this wasn't one of those special circumstances. Said player was merely a player who plays regularly (almost daily) and does not play any other games at the casino. Just merely bringing up things that you might not be aware of..nothing more
User CP, edit options, Thread display options, change posts per page from forum default to 40 posts per page. Viola no more 3 pages of posts... yawn, so easy....
Good call on the adjustments... I should threadjack at this point (cuz you guys are boring): You know your at GBH/Rama/Windsor/Brantford poker room when:
- You are the only person in the room. You have to be alone... nothing wrong ever happens anywhere else, no dealer errors, no donkey players, no suits to ignore you until you pull out your crackberry... gotta be solo.
Why do u guys reply with this idle chat crap on a thread that has nothing to do with what your talking about???? Get a chat room and have fun. You are doing nothing except losing people who want to read that thread. They have no interest in your idle chat.
13 CARDS I find it amusing that you are defending every one of those points. Do you guys listen to any of the players at any time? These comments are heard all day at fallsview. I play there over 50 hours a week. When you ask everywhere? Seneca, Allegheny, every poker room in Atlantic City, Vegas- Caesars, Rio, Wynn, Venetian, Bellagio, Stardust, Sahara, Binions, Golden Nugget, MGM, Mirage, Flamingo, - do I really need to continue? MGM in Detroit, Greektown in Detroit, Windsor, Seminole in Florida, .. Is that enough. Really sir, all you have to do is go over to Seneca and see how a real poker room runs. Customer service is great and the dealers are personable and quick. Im sure you will reply, "if you like it so much, why dont u just go play there"?... Well I do, but i like to mix it up. Also, like I said in my thread, the action at fallsview almost makes it worth the ridiculously bad treatment you recieve there as a customer. I do have to say, there are a couple good guys in suits, but not many. I think most of the issues can be resolved if only the OLGC would allow the dealers to keep their own tips. Then watch them straighten out and speed up.

perhaps you missed the post about how you would not understand this thread...either that, or you just don't understand this thread.

Oh god. Here am I thinking there was a reason for their ineptitude.
There is... lack of a desire to improve. I see it all the time, and it pisses me off. Then again, to play devil's advocate for just a minute, why bother to improve? Get by, get cheque, repeat. Not just in poker either, all over.
Table 1: Dealer is approx. 45-50, slight build, latino (didn't catch his name)
River:
Seat 4 bets $20,
Seat 5 raises to $40 total
Seat 4 raises to $60 total with $25ish back
Dealer tells seat 4 that he cannot raise to $60 and that he MUST go all in. Seat 5 explains that this is not the case- calmly and well, and Seat 4 agrees with what 5 is saying as does the rest of the table...
The dealer forces 4 all in anyway (4 didn't argue because it was only a little more)
Seat 5 tries, again, to explain that the $20 raise of the $20 raise was valid...the dealer just DOES NOT GET IT.
Story 2
Table 1, Same dealer, floor was 'Will', and supervisor was a very tall, good looking guy with a pony tail.
Session fee, one gentleman claims to have paid already and shows that he has only two whites left in his stack (which makes sense, he had just sat recently and only paid the SB once and had not gotten a drink yet[no tip])
The dealer tells him to pay again anyway, and that they will go to the cameras, Will comes over and agrees, and tells dealer to drop the session fee saying that if he is right he'll either get his $6 back from the next session fee or (I presume) more likely from the player who DIDN'T pay.
Will comes back a few minutes later and says essentially "well, Pony tail decided that since we got our $60 we see no reason to go to the tape...too bad you"
I ask Will: So what I'm learning is that if I don't want to be ripped off, I should make an enormous stink and hold the game up, refusing to pay again if this ever happens to me?
Will did not appear to understand the situation properly. His comment was "this happens 40 times a night"
I said: And it is wrong everytime.
FTR I said this respectfully, and chatted with him for a few minutes about it... but the fact is that the player (who didn't appear to speak much english) was probably being robbed, I don't care if it is $6 or $600... it pissed me off AND it will only lead to more bad behaviour and game slowdowns, since if you are passive and respectful of the employees and other players..the staff won't be bothered doing what is right or fair.
I am not here to stick up for Fallsview, I no longer work there, but I do have a few points that need to be made that I couldn't make while I worked there.
Fallsview has issues, as does EVERY other poker room. I am not speaking in anyway on behalf of Fallsview. There are many things that they should do better, but will not. A very big problem with poker is players such as Moose. You can see by his demeanor that he is a losing player that has nothing to offer the forum or poker in the way of substance - check his previous couple hundred posts - complete crap. Players like Moose walk into a casino poker room, end up in a situation because of their attitude, then want to talk to the president. Large casinos such as Fallsview do not care about poker, it is simply an amenity to the property in the same vein as a wedding chapel.
If Fallsview was not committed to the WPT, the poker room would have been closed, and they do treat it that way. If you don't like it, STFU and don't go Moose. Poker is more important to smaller properties such as Brantford and Port Perry so they have a greater tolerance to the incessant bitching from players like Moose. It does not matter how well a room is run, there is always a Moose, and there are always mistakes. Lots of them. People hate Bellagio, people hate Commerce. Same reasons. 13Cards could handle some answers better, but he is on here to get opinions and try to make improvements, as was I when I was there. You do not see reps from any other card room in the province on here, or any card room period other than underground. Fallsview committed to poker in Canada in a way that no other property in Canada has, give them props for that. Cut 13Cards some slack, he really is one of the best in the business.
Poker is not a money making venture for the casino in any way. A year ago you had to be rated in poker to get free parking, that was a very bad thing for poker. The argument was always made that poker players bring friends, play pit games - that is only true to a negligible amount. Poker players come alone due to the length of time they play, and they generally do not play pit games - and they cause far and away the most issues. Low limit games are not worth opening and high limit games are populated with the most difficult type of casino patron to deal with (very censored).
13Cards is here to get constructive feedback, if you don't have it, STFU. He is wrong sometimes, but I have not met anyone in the business that studies the game more or spends more time around the game than him - all to try and improve. I have poached about a dozen of the staff that helped me run the WPT events (offered to 13 but couldn't move), so he is kind of on his own island there with not a lot of support.
Poker has been very good to me and given me great opportunities, but the game needs to rid itself of the useless, disruptive, and argumentative players that cause casinos to question offering the game, let alone expansion. I'm not saying sit there and take it, I'm saying be adults and be constructive, appropriate and professional.
A well written and lucid post. The only thing I would take issue with is your (apparent) targeting of Moose. If one poster is on here ranting and raving, your point would be valid. When two posters raise issues, you might give more credence to them. When several posters all make similar complaints, OVER AND OVER, there is a definite disconnect in the area of customer service.
I will give much respect to 13Cards for coming here and taking the crap that flows his way. I would give more, if I could see some tangible proof that the situation has improved. That has not yet occurred. Still, I will take him at his word that he is making the effort. I think the main reason he does not get more consideration/slack here is because of the apparent demeanour behind his posts. And I fully realize how difficult it is to interpret intent based on text (only).
Fallsview committed to poker in Canada in a way that no other property in Canada has, give them props for that.
No, see Alberta and BC rooms. Ontario is not Canada. Calgary is the poker capital of Canada and treats players as such. Playing in one of the small (10table) NL rooms and you get any entre on the menu after 1h of play in addition to any mixed drink SERVED AT YOUR TABLE. The games are raked, the dealers are very competent (not sure if they split tips).
By far and away Ontario (including all the casinos not just FV) has the WORST poker rooms I've seen, including the worst dealers on average (GBH seems to have a great rotation in the higher tier games). This is in comparison to Alb, BC, NV, WA, CA and underground Ont games.
Overall, it doesn't really matter -- arguing about things is futile. There is zero pertinent competition so as long as poker is popular there will be little need to improve service . Talk all you want back and forth, but nothing will change as long as there are waiting lists and once there aren't they will just shrink or abort the poker rooms all together.
I agree with some of your points, not specifically to Moose, but to the type of player that we all have experienced. I wouldn't want to run a poker room, but if I did I would try and do a better job of it.
To state that FV is the leading edge of poker in Canada is by far extremely naive and shows the pervasive attitude that makes discussions futile at best.
GTA, I never said that Fallsview was the leading edge in poker, I said they have committed to poker like no other property. I did not say they were the best, and I know Ontario is not Canada - precisely the attitude that I speak of in poker players. FV has had the three WPT events and the Degree Poker Championships which is the largest live freeroll ever held in the world. They are widely recognized as one of the best tournament stops worldwide by the top pros. Check Daniels blogs, and check Roy Winstons blog last week where he puts FV alongside Borgata, Bellagio, and Crown in Australia as the best tournaments and stops worldwide. They both mention the staff. This does not mean that day-to-day does not need improving.
Milo, I merely made an example of Moose as he seems to be the shining beacon of the problematic player with no purpose. I know they do a lot of things wrong at FV, including service at times. In the casino industry there is no tougher job than dealing poker, far and away, because of the players that you deal with on a daily basis. It gets to the Dealers and they snap over time, everywhere.
Graham / Mods - to allow the naming of specific dealers/staff is irresponsible on a public forum, edit the names/descriptions out. Forumers are allowed obscurity in their names, give the staff their privacy and respect.

FYI: Fallsview = No union.
And I realize I am stretching the analogy to the brink, but so be it.

Someone else will take care of this.

fwiw, Will was very personable..I just disagree with the decision/thought process. (or lack there of)
