the believe the exact opposite is true...that the largest +outcomes will be from specific examples. Just the same as a group of poker players might have coffee and say "you know what Dealer John Smith really loused up this hand last night by....watch out for it" ..so should we.
and that's before we bring 13cards into the mix, and all the + he could do with our observations.
Obviously people are going to talk about the staff there in ways that relate to poker and it seems reasonable to do so unless someone ever posts 'ponytail lives at 234 main ave, 555-0101'

I think the fact that he has a pony tail in 2008 is enough grief for the poor guy

Hi Beach Bum,
I do agree with this to an extent, but all I can find is a first name and I don't think that it creates a security risk for that person in any way. Like Kristy said, had someone posted the person's address or more personal information that was completely irrelevant to the call being made then that would not be tolerated.
With any customer service position if someone makes a mistake they may be held accountable for their actions (whether it be on a public forum or some other form of review site) by the customer. For example, if a hotel employee provided very bad service chances are this may leak onto a travel review site with their name being mentioned. Though I am probably the last person to call someone out by name, if someone feels cheated in a particular situation it is their right to question the decision of that person and by posting some information about the person that created their opionion. I think this is done in a way to warn others to watch out for this person. Since they are paying for the session time at the table they are the customer.
I really appreciate your insight into this particular thread, but I don't see posting a first name as an issue of privacy.
Not to turn this into a privacy thread, but the staff in this instance, and other threads in this forum who are not active participants, have a right to be edited:
Under the Act, you have the right to make a complaint to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if:
An organization covered by the Act refuses to correct information you consider inaccurate or incomplete;
You suspect your personal information has been improperly collected, used or disclosed; or
You believe an organization is not following any provision of the law.
Personal information is place of work, time of work, job performance, and name. Graham, this does not even address the remarks about the persons appearance, if you think any of that is acceptable you are flat out wrong.
Paying a session fee as your argument is beyond ridiculous. Buying a hamburger does not allow me to say that the person who served it stunk, and announce it in a public forum.

I think you raise a very valid point and I appreciate the research you have done here with regards to the privacy act. My only question is who should this request come from to be edited out (I am not trying to instigate anything, I really would like to know the answer to this question)? I have received letters from lawyers as well as individuals in the past asking for information to be removed from a website and I have always complied, but I have not received a request from any staff to have this information removed.
I don't believe you should have to be asked to remove a persons name, it is your obligation as a moderator/owner to protect privacy. Simply xxxx the name or description as you would any other inappropriate material.
It's a forum, I understand that there are immature idiots out there who hide behind a screen name and can not express themselves properly. I get that, but one of the reasons I came to this forum was because of the discussions. As the former poker manager / tournament director at Fallsview I found this forum useful and made changes as a result of the discussions on this forum. You can make a difference with constructive criticism and suggestions done professionally.
Why did you edit your post and remove the last line Graham?
I edited the last line because after speaking with a few people I actually think what I said in the first place was right. If I provide bad service to someone regardless of the venue, I know that I run the risk that the person might complain whether it be to my manager, to their friends or in some other venue.
1. I definately can review the service citing particular strengths/weaknesses of the service providers..
2. I definately should tell the forum to watch out when there are errors by specific service providers that could cost them money.
3. I don't believe I insulted anyone, in fact I said that 'Will' was personable, and Ponytail was very good looking...I just happen to believe that they were also wrong.
You should probably mull over the concept of a poker forum and what we are all doing here if it is not to openly discuss our casino's and share information.
I don't believe that I've violated anyone's privacy...I went to a public venue, and then posted on another about what I've experienced.
Is it mature and not idiotic, to refer to others as immature and idiotic? Don't we ban for personal attacks on members here anymore?
(completely kidding, please do not ban...but I'm not changing my post)
Wow. This is great. I can see the spectators lining up for this one.
Man how to compose this in a logical fashion?
Well first of all, I guess I'll have to do a 13Cards and multi-quote as much as I can.
Let's start here:
check his previous couple hundred posts
Ok so I went back and reread my previous 200 posts because I certainly didn't recall personally attacking 13Cards. Sure enough - couldn't find any. If there were any comments you didn't like, well I invite you to go back, quote them and dispute them. I certainly don't think anything I've said was out of line or untrue. If anything I haven't said much because as Milo rightfully pointed out there are plenty of players to carry on the torch. I am commenting on a place, not a person. It's a public forum. It's within my rights to do so. If you take personal issue with that, then the problem is with you, not I. If you have issues with whiny, crappy players go ahead and get it off your chest. Typing feels good. Ahh. That's better. It has nothing to do with me and I take issue with you and your puerile attack.
At first I was so pleased to see Fallsview/Beach Bum back. I have always appreciated your responses as both measured and thoughtful. I had great respect for you as a representative from Fallsview. Sad to say your bizarre attack is emblematic all that is wrong with Fallsview (the place). I guess that respect is all gone now. Sorry that you decided to destroy your reputation.
Large casinos such as Fallsview do not care about poker, it is simply an amenity to the property in the same vein as a wedding chapel.
QFT
I have poached about a dozen of the staff that helped me run the WPT events (offered to 13 but couldn't move), so he is kind of on his own island there with not a lot of support.
QFT
Poker is not a money making venture for the casino in any way.
QFT
It certainly must be frustrating to work in an area that is completely unsupported by upper management. I'm sure the issues preventing improvements are wide and varied.
However, attitude is one of issues most easily addressed and that's the front line staff and their immediate supervisors. No place generates the complaints that Fallsview does and those complaints land here. They are not generated by me. I don't go there. The one and only time was within months of opening and have seen no reason to go back since.
You can see by his demeanor that he is a losing player that has nothing to offer the forum or poker in the way of substance
So suffice to say you never met me. You've never had the chance to grab my player's card and see if I'm a winning player or not. No point in getting into a pissing contest over win rates and bankrolls etc etc. Suffice to say there are millions of winning players who win more than I, just as there must be millions of winning players who make less than I. Does that make me a small shark in a big pond. Yep. Worthwhile to step on me? Well go ahead. I guess that makes you feel better. Pretty pathetic that you can be tilted in your sunny new dream job thousands of miles away by little ol' me. What a sad life it must be to have reach out and attack me in order to defend a place that you no longer work for. I guess it must have rained today for the first time in six months and it left you feeling pretty grim.
13Cards is here to get constructive feedback, if you don't have it, STFU.
Why does it bother what type of feedback is posted on this forum? People go to Fallsview regardless. That's problem #1 with Fallsview's (the place) attitude. This is a public forum. It was nice that you were here. It's nice that 13Cards is here. But this is pokerforum.ca not fallsview.ca. I say you STFU. If you don't like it, suck it up. If people go, they should be prepared for a crappy experience and if Fallsview happens to exceed their low expectations, they might be pleased enough to return again and if not, well they were prepared for the worst so at least it won't have been a surprise.
Players like Moose walk into a casino poker room, end up in a situation because of their attitude, then want to talk to the president. Poker is more important to smaller properties such as Brantford and Port Perry so they have a greater tolerance to the incessant bitching from players like Moose.
Importance = Attitude right? Please stop making my points for me. It's so easy to identify the major problems here. It's certainly not players like me. I have the greatest respect for dealers and front line staff. Sometimes they are very busy, obviously poker rooms in general get very little support from upper management. That doesn't mean to say that I haven't seen obviously overloaded waitresses juggle 10 tables, do it with a smile and the simple apology "I'm doing the best I can" and after the meal have the manager drop by and apologize for the wait.
Fallsview's (the place) general attitude is more like "It is what it is. It can't be changed because it's out of our control. If you don't like it - shove it". Wait a minute. You did say that. Right here:
If you don't like it, STFU and don't go Moose.
Dealers have one the worst jobs in the world. You can go back and search the threads for my opinions on tipping dealers if you like. If there is incessant whining going on at Fallsview, well I don't think we have to wonder why and 'Moose' would have to be there an awful lot to attribute it all to 'Moose'.
If Fallsview was not committed to the WPT, the poker room would have been closed, and they do treat it that way. Fallsview committed to poker in Canada in a way that no other property in Canada has, give them props for that.
Props.
I'm saying be adults and be constructive, appropriate and professional.
You sure missed the boat by a wide margin there didn't you? GFY.
beachbum, you decide to post in this forum to complain about people complaining (note the irony). you outright accuse specific forumers (in which you know nothing about) or their "type" of "being the 'main' problem" in casinos, you accuse mods of not "properly" censoring the forum (in which you know nothing about, or at best you treat it as clearly cut and dry even though it is a very touchy subject), and you base it all on...what exactly? that is, it's all your opinion, correct? you state it as obvious facts, but i'm going to assume that you don't actually think that (but just to cover my ass, if you are stating your opinions as facts...well, i can't argue against that, so you win! yeah for you!)
as moose has stated time and again, the complaints about FV are based around its general attitude - be it towards customers or towards poker in general.
since you were so kind as to voice your opinion (i.e. "if you don't like it, STFU" type of opinion), please be considerate enough to listen to mine here as well in the following:
this is a public forum. people are going to voice their opinions (even annoying, shitty ones that make statements like "i'm right, and if you disagree than STFU"). if your beef is with the public atmosphere of forums, well that's a whole different issue then bad mouthing FV, and you are going about defending your opinion in a poor way (i.e. you're equating it and connecting it to other tangent arguments that you also happen to disagree with).
with that being said, people are going to complain about things that bother them. in a poker forum specifically, people are going to complain about their poor poker experiences. if such complaints seem to grow in excess with respect to a specific casino, perhaps it would be in the best interest of everyone (casino staff and poker players alike) to actually consider the complaints as opposed to attempting to argue that the complaints are only coming from idiots or "moose(s)" (sorry moose, you're not an idiot, i'm just making a point).
oh, and one more thing. perhaps all this advice will be easier to hear and understand once you step off your high ass horse.
No place generates the complaints that Fallsview does and those complaints land here. They are not generated by me. I don't go there. The one and only time was within months of opening and have seen no reason to go back since.
LOL. You probably know their operation better than they do. I now understand why you are such a vocal critic, it is not that you are a bitter person....you have a TON of history
At Brantford last weekend a dealer refused to colour up a players chips before he left. He said it slowed down the game and the dealers were not permitted. Go figure.
Also a player in seat 2 while attempting to table his cards had one card hit by the dealer as the dealer was moving chips into the pot and it flipped upside down. FLOOR! - MUCK! - NOT! The dealer simply asked the player to flip the card over please because he was not allowed to touch it and we moved on. Shocking!
DrTyore and I explained that at Fallsview they would muck the hand and the entire table stared at us in amazement, not sure if we were joking.

Dude, I already explained the complaints don't come from me. I'm smart enough not to set foot in that place.
Not one thread started by me. I am certainly free to comment on any thread started by someone who had a bad experience at Fallsview. I am certainly free to comment on any response by 13Cards. Certainly no personal attacks in those threads.
There wouldn't be anything to say if everything was peaches and cream at Fallsview. Let's start a thread called "I had a great time at Fallsview, the dealers and floor staff were friendly and excellent. Please comment"
I hear crickets chirping.
This one in particular is a classic, in case you missed it:
lolol dealing $640 satellites and the dealers don't even know that all stacks receive cards. One of the most basic rules that any poker player that plays tournies knows. Not only did it happen once, but a second time a week later. Did they use that week to fix the problem? Have a dealer meeting and make sure that it didn't happen again? Obviously not. Not only did the dealers not know the rule, but the floor staff as well. Rotten to the core. I didn't make this up. Voodoo posted it, not me.
These people run a licensed casino and they can't even run it as well as a $5 sng held in some guys basement. It's frightening really.
It's not just the tournies, but the cash games as well:
Did I post this? Nope. Wasn't even much point in commenting. But ok, c'mon are you kidding me? Dealer mucks the board with two players still in the hand and no showdown. Seriously? 13Cards obviously has spent so much time training the dealers what a fold was*, he forgot to explain what NOT folding was.
Isn't it crazy that they are licensed to deal NL and the dealers don't even know what a legal raise is? What a joke.
You want a positive constructive comment? How about, please train your dealers and floor staff in the rules and customer service before they hit the floor. I thought it was obvious, but maybe it needed to be said, 'cause these guys clearly don't get it.
So there you go. In a nutshell, a nice summary of Fallsview. Maybe we need a sticky.
I know you! You're that moose kid from down the block, always rubbing your antlers on my Poplars, leaving the velvet all over my lawn!! Beat it, I said . .
P.S. attacking Moose as a cocky prick or inappropriate player at a casino table? That's like saying Mother Teresa hated the sound of children laughing....
Exactly Westside. I can tell you must play there and you understand the frustration that we go through. The problem is they need to start listening to the customer(player) instead of giving excuses like 13 cards. I can surely tell he works there.
Moose your awesome. Your another player who has obviously played there and probably had complaints fall on deaf ears. Its really disgusting. I wish that border wasnt there because Seneca would kill that place. The cricket would indeed be all you hear in that crappy run poker room they call fallsview.
