    cheers!

I remember a guy I met from the forum who was disappointed I wasn't black. Kind of reminds me of a Seinfeld episode :)

wtf? How do you not insist before you leave?
  • WTF, we're back on topic about WPT Fallsview instead of trannies, bro jobs, and black pokerJAH?!

Of the thousands of satellites I have played at the WSOP, Venetian, Brantford, Seneca, Dominican Republic & online, Fallsview is the only poker room AFAIK in the entire world where you can win $5K, $2,500 and $1,100 seats, but get nothing physical. The entry cards are still not available, so DrCarl & all other seat winners can get screwed if something happens to them or the Fallsview computer before they get their cards.

Just like I had to "move heaven and earth" to allow back pen and paper in the Fallsview poker room like all the other poker rooms in the world and all previous WPT Fallsview events, I had to insist on getting a printout of my account. After the first cashier claimed it was impossible, I convinced the supervisor that if I get a receipt even with a minimum deposit to my front money account, then I should be able to get a paper record of my WPT wins worth thousands of dollars since there are no entry cards or vouchers available to take home. I saw the computer screen and realized that Fallsview was still using the prehistoric IBM CICS technology which compuease and I had worked on in the previous millennium. I was able to help them figure a work-around on how to give me a print record, so next time compuease questions if I even play poker, I can CICS him with the CICS printout showing my luckbox wins. ;)
  • i must be sexist because i pretty much always assume everyone online is a male unless otherwise stated.

although, and i have absolutely no idea why, i used to think blondefish was a girl (before someone called him by his name in a thread).
  • I call everyday to see if the cards are in its a valid concern not having and proof you won your seat i tried to take a picture of the form they fill out once you have one the satalite and i got in trouble and they laughed at me, the guy beside me said he ws also worried he stated he had 4 of the 1.1k seats and 2.5 seat. Buy seriously were the hell is my tickets, its not like they didnt have a whole year to perpare?
  • You guys have stated many times how poorly it was run at Fallsview....I've only been there once for cash games (waiting times are rediculous).

I mean, for as simple as giving a receipt for the tourney's, it's pretty laughable that they can't do that.

Hopefully your provincial gov't will open up so there can be more poker rooms / casinos....as it appears the only thing that will make them improve is competition.
  • I heard that they had to get the cards re-printed with the WPT branding included this year. Maybe WPT agreement came later than expected...

    ^this.
  • I'm guessing they don't want the tickets out until last minute so people don't reproduce the ticket as in past? Not really much else makes sense, you can have this done in a flash if you want.
  • Jon

The tickets that were reproduce were actually paper tickets.

Last year were actually more like a gift card that states the event it was for on it
  • I was going to avoid playing any satellites at fallsview because of how poorly organized they are. But my good friend wanted to play and it was his birthday so I went down. It was last Saturday. Saw Blondefish there as well as the usually fallsview regs and some Ontario poker regs. Wait times are horrendous. And even after they call the names, still takes a good 20-30 minutes to get the cards in the air. I believe it took a 4+ hour wait to get a seat at a satellite. (End up bubbling it in 3rd, for those wondering how I did, and it was a $245 sat). After that experience I don't see how profitable it is, considering you will need to spend 12 hours at fallsview to play 3 satellites, and factor in how high the variance is, playing these to win a seat is not a sure thing. But for those that want to take a shot I guess it's ok.
  • I bought in direct into the $1100 event. Paid with a credit card...visa or mastercard are accepted nothing else. You can buy in over the phone you just need to fill out a credit card authorization form and send them a photocopy/scan of your photo I.d. They told me that they also set up a players card for me and both my card and my voucher for the tourney will be ready whenever I want to pick them up. It was all pretty easy and the girl that works there was really nice. I figured I wouldnt waste all my money on sattys and figure if I do well in the $1100, I can always use any winnings and play the 2.5k or 5k main event. Starting stacks are 10k, 20k, and 30k for the three tourney respectively and 40 minute blinds to start for all three. They even checked hotel rates and they are $169 at the fallsview and only $109 for the Hilton but you have to go through the fallsview poker line to book at the hilton and mention "poker" while booking to get the special rate. Super excited about this series and cant wait till Feb.18th and for the cards in the air to begin!

Is there a 2% fee to use your credit card?

As mentioned several times in this thread, there is no voucher or entry card for anybody to pick up yet. We're all hoping they will finally be available by January 15 instead of the end of the month. :-\

Do NOT use these "poker rates." As I mentioned in my Niagara Falls Deals thread, I can easily get Hilton < $100, the connected Sheraton for $63, the Best Western across the street for $50 (+ $250 vouchers), Embassy Suites for $95 (+ $235 added value), and for those who don't need a fancy schmancy resort, the Knights Inn by the Falls two blocks away for only $31 with free breakfast, parking, wifi, microwave and fridge. :cool2:

  • Yeah sorry forgot to mention there was a fee for buying with my credit card, so it was $1122 total buy in. I think this is the norm though, as I had to pay the same amount when I played the full tilt main in Montreal. Thanks for the advice on the hotel rates, Knights inn sounds great at $33 per night.
  • Maybe I'm missing something obvious but I fail to see all the commotion over pen and paper being allowed in the poker room. It was being discussed last night at fallsview. Why do people want this? Is it to write up notes on other players while at the table? Seems kind of strange especially when as poker players we should have a great memory and have the ability to put said notes in our phones.

Only use I would have for a pen and paper really would be if I'm having trouble deciding what I want to get for lunch or doodling in between hands at a boring table. (sorry to take away talk from the WPT... stoked as ever but this pen and paper business has me really confused!!)

    Cheers!

Not at the tables you cannot.

While that may be correct it is only a few feet away to the rail. Surely you guys aren't planning to jot down every hand? ???

When someone does something obscure I just don't see the issue in getting up and typing it in your phone. Good exercise as well.
  • Exactly. Just like you had the right to doodle in WSOP, WPT & every other poker room in the world, you now have that right at Fallsview! The important thing is that Fallsview is listening to WPT and Matt Savage, so that you & I will be doodling away under TDA rules and WPT standard structures for many YEARS to come. :wav:

So when I put you all-in in the WPT final table, you tank, absent-mindedly exposing your QQ hand to the players to your left & a Fallsview supervisor mistakenly declares your hand dead, you can whip out a PAPER :o copy of the TDA Rules and say,
"This tranny named BlondeFish told me to doodle highlight TDA Rule #60 with my PEN :o, which states that
'A player who exposes his cards with action pending may incur a penalty, but will not have a dead hand.'"
Instead of your hand being dead, you decide to call & go on to win the WPT Championship. And you owe it all to ....

  • BF, since a lot of dresses don't have pockets, are purses allowed at WPT tables for carrying pen and paper? :-)

    Cheers,
    PDT
  • Murses are, its all about the murse
  • Planning on heading to Fallsview Sunday to play satellites - anyone know when they start running?
  • I was told that the long-awaited entry cards would be available yesterday (Friday), and I confirmed this when I got to Fallsview last night. Each of the five tournaments on February 18-22 have a different coloured credit card. They remind me of my kid's colourful Pokemon card collection - "Gotta catch 'em all!"

The many poker clubs or home games that have been running FPC satellites since last year will probably buy up a lot of the $1,100 entry cards. With only one month to go, you probably want to get your $275 and $1,100 entries soon before they sell out.
