Since this is supposed to be a poker forum, expect a lot of both positive & negative feedback about ANY poker room, including YRPL, Sharks & Fallsview. Looking back at the negative reviews last year, I hope the players filled out a feedback form or sent something written to Fallsview so that it will have a chance to make some improvements this year.
When someone buys into tournament, automatically assign them table and seat (this will stop scalping).
Pay Top 10% like most tournaments instead of Top 8%.
Start 10 handed but move to 9 handed tables (like most tournaments).
No need to have dealers wash and change decks every 30mins (this just slows things down).
Playing 3 hours of poker before you have a break is ridiculous.
They could have easily sat 500 players for the super satellites, but chose to only sit 400 (thus more scalping of the sold out $275 satellite).
The floor needs to stop talking down to us players like we are 4 years old when we ask questions (most poker players that are asking the questions have played all over the world, so the floor does not need to give a look like the player asking is an idiot).
When someone asks a floor person with 2 tables left, why are they so far apart from each other? It is hard to rail both tables, they answer that is not our concern. Umm us players and people railing are paying your salary.
In general Fallsview needs to start listening to the players which they have proven over the years they just don't care about the players.
The last thing Fallsview should want is the top Canadian women player saying they are not going to play the $5k and won't be back due to the floor attitude and power tripping security.
I've always liked the shoot-out idea. I hosted a small one with some pals. We had 5 tables of 4 players and it generated a lot of excitement and trash talk when drawing our seats and as people won their tables.
I know that wouldn't be the case in a casino environment but I'd love to see this forum throw one together someday.
I have talked with some friends, and there is some interest in running home game satty to get into this. Location would probably be in Guelph, a friend of mine can accommodate three maybe four tables if enough demand. I have never organized a satellite to another event so any feed back would be great. I'm sure he would run rake free game. I believe there is a $2500 event, my thought was 25 players at $100 gets first into event. More players maybe help with expenses to and from or hotel. The other question would be whether to run this as equity or straight satellite. If any interest let me know.
I'm not going to impose any conditions on the equity percentage as it's a no-brainer that any rake-free satellite is better than driving to Fallsview to wait for a high-rake crapshoot. I'll try to play any RFS as long as it's not early Friday/Wednesday night.
With that many players, equity will be a pain to track, and it would have to be a significant cash to make it a meaningful payout with that many shares.
Also, I'd recommend a lower ratio than 1:25. I think you'd have trouble filling seats at that rate. 1:10 is pretty standard. So, I'd suggest either make it a $250 buy-in or make it a satty to the $1k.
Also, longer levels and deeper starting stack would be preferable to most players.
Except for catching a superbug from a player in the tournament area last year, i really am excited to go back and try this tourney again. Good thing they are getting sattys going early as possible, the more the better. I liked the structure of the $2500 seemed decent, obv prefer to win a seat though, also tried to get into the 5k last year no success...

Fallsview has confirmed to me that it will be on February 18-24, 2014. I have some details but we may as well wait for the official press release, website updates and brochures.
I kind of love it that "fed" has become a generic term for all that is bad, wrong, illegitimate, untrue, bs, unwanted and otherwise undesirable in our little section of the world.
For the record, if it's fed he really racks up the frequent flyer miles.
i believe i know who Harris is...from his racetrack days as a bettor at the Harness races...he even got his trainer licence for awhile.. a few years ago i played on table with him at one of those Belwood sunday games...a maniac at the table but i outlasted him...i woner if he still plays the horses...i do lol..

Can confirm harris plays poker like a maniac. Also heard the rumour about the microsoft convention last week as well, may just be heresay. I've spoken to a couple people 'in the know' and they all believe it's all gonna be up and running. CANT WAIT TO PLAY MY FIRST 5K!

you would recognize me if you saw me..years ago you sat outside on the top floor with your buds...i was up there , usually by myself...a couple of your friends struck up conversations with me...me and them exchanged info on what horses were live plays, you guys were half my age..but you guys were always good to talk to.....i quit going live years ago..just bet through the internet.....which its funny ..i dont like going to the races live,and i play them on the internet,,,,,but i dont really like internet poker, but i enjoy going to the casino...lol..:)
