team competion/How to beat the Bomb Squad

Hi All,

I'm looking for some input/ideas on what would be the best structure for the below listed event. to make a long story short, Orangeville Poker Tour and the AceTenBomber/Bomb Squad got into a pissing match the last couple of days. if you want to read go to this link acetenbomber.com • View topic - Blog from the owner of the Orangeville Poker League

We have decided to settle the argument on the felt. I'm looking for suggestions on what would be the best format. I'm thinking something like the Royal Cup however i know after talking to some of the Bomb Squad players they only want to play NL Hold'em.

so here are some things that you have to work with to develop the best format.

-Say between 8 -10 players on each team.
- One day to play any games decided upon.
- only NL holdem games and variations of (ie. Heads up, 6-man, etc, are all good)
-Want the end result to reflect as best as possible the better team

Please provide your input

  • Don't let them back out of any DC games, are they poker players or not? What player doesn't know how to play PLO or HORSE by now. Mix it up for sure!

What wimps, sure not real poker players... and I would tell them to their faces...

Jeff i know you have played several OPT events so you are officially hired for our team :)
  • I have only been able to think of one thing the original thread started at the other guys place:

YouTube - Successful Troll Song (with lyrics)
  • Now please proceed with kicking Bombsquad ass!
  • Maybe if OPT did join the BS...they would have some results to mention? ;)

Hmm...maybe it's time for Scoops to come up with some PFC jerseys?

Dam Dennis i wish i had thought of saying that. :)
  • I thought GTA Poker and I were childish....this bomber guy seems like a decent player..never heard of him.

Are you saying I am childish?

I made a statement in my personal blog, then A10 posted it on his forum, and all I have done is defend my statement.
  • Meh, the guys a joke.

I mean hes prob a nice guy and no doubt the false publicity his acts create have done some good for his crew, but I can tell you this:

If him and 15 of his guys go to a 300 person MTT, there are precisely 284people in the room that are rolling their eyes.

Ive played with him, and he refers to himself, in real time, as "the acetenbomber".

ie, "You wouldnt try to bluff the acetenbomber would you".

    joke.

Im not hating, I just have a ton more respect for the players that quietly go about making bank.
  • +1 to third party reference also played with him. Other classics include " all my fans who have supported me" (not crew) and "all the pros were chearing and clapping but you will have to wait for TV, if you are a poker player you won't want to miss this hand" (in reference to a hand he played and the FTP Pro's)

As far as childish goes, I am hoping GTA will coach me after this past few days on how to be a great Troll, I finally found the perfect reason.....

The story I heard on this hand was he was all in with pocket kings and was up against A J. And all the pros were cheering and chanting for an ACE to come.

I'm in if you would have me,.... but what results have I had? lol... Of course I haven't played but one significant buyin... I read that "other" forum, not too impressed.. Perhaps thay would like to bring a challenge team to the next Royal?
I am sure however that there are many players on here, both with online and live results that would put his "crew" to shame. Just wish I was one of them. :-[
  • Hey Guys I am on the bombsquad...some of you know me and know i play a lot...I think it would be safe to say that i am the only one that would play 8 or 10game...There maybe 1-2 others but not that has been brought to my attention...I feel comfortable playing pretty decent stakes live in all 10 games. But I think its safe to say the 95% of the bombsquad and ill take a guess 75% of the OPT primarily play NL holdem I hope friendships aren’t lost “feud”… and after things are settled we can all go on… in the mean time see you guys at Seneca?!?!?! And Defiantly the WSOP
  • Cdncardrunner, your a good guy. Don't think Burnett and I will be talking though. We have free rollers in BSPT playing DC competently, can't see why BombSquad would have trouble. Wish I could jump in with OPT, but I'll just have to be satisfied with taking Jeffs money in a $120 SNG at WSOP, you know the epic battle between him and Kellner where they finished 5th and 6th and KK purchased an extra stack at the 8 handed table. They Wrote all about it didn't mention anyone else though. And a few of us chopped once we KOed them all.
  • Regardless I stand behind my friend and I will enjoy the competition.

    Whats BSPT DC????
  • dc i assume dealers choice....
  • Big Slick Poker Tour, just a little bar league that Dennis and I both got about 700 players a piece playing in over first 6 months. My original 3 locations grew to 15 ish within the next year after it was transferred to new investors, not sure where Dennis is at now but I do know there is over 50 locations now.

Along the way we took completely green players got them up to where they started playing home games and casino, some have been sponsored into CPT and WSOP events and they never payed to be part of the club. They also learned HU, Cash and dealers choice games.

But then again what would a "guy like me" as Aceten put it know about building a brand and poker group? We then formed a strategic alliance with the Canadian Poker Tour, about 20 percent of whose membership was signed up by yours truly and organized COPC, which had about 2200 entries and drew in a 1.7 million dollar prize pool after rake.

It was held across 3 major casinos and about 30 BSPT players entered in $300 to $1000 events that they didn't pay for, just won their way into through large events. The Bombsquad was going to attend in return for the three issues of promoting that the CPT did, but for "personal reasons" according to Jeff that
    didn't happen.

Of course BSPT has sponsorship deals with Betfair and CPT had worked with 888, which through coordinated player money exchanges for those interested from site to site, we managed to close most overlays as 888 is obviously not the players first choice.

Unfortunately, the CPT has had some of it's own issues in keeping commitments so by focusing on what players and advertisers want Poker Pro Canada has been pretty effective over the last year in taking over the market and one by one the casinos nationwide have been switching over. I really like the editors letter this month. Poker Pro has had both PokerForum.ca and and OPT in it. BTW.

Please post this in your Acetenbomber forum

    Jon
  • Feel free...everyone out west already knows and everyone out east here cant play lol
  • It's just that Bombsquad members are grabbing quotes and bringing them back, might as well go for the gusto.

I am getting a tad tilty now.

I am getting a tad tilty now.

Your getting tilty over a "tiny" (30 member) forum slagging the venerable OPT? Jeesh Jon, PFC is not that big but dwarfs that forum.. :)
Obviously yourself and the rest of the BC contingent have built a real nice tour there, good on you, keep it going. We have had so many bar leagues and the like come and go here in Ontario it's like a revolving door. We'll see where they are a year from now. It's not so difficult to start but so much more so to flourish.
  • i dont think its something to get tilted over...i am not sure who plainducks is but i am not sure they are even a member...

    ^^^ This...

They seem to be a sensitive bunch over there… Steve posted a summary of his Montreal Open experience on his own personal blog and includes a brief reference to A10. He did not trash the guy or his crew – he actually commended them for bringing buy-ins and attention to a good charitable cause… he only said as a statement of fact that the guy needs to post some decent results in top of the line tournaments.

They are the ones that posted it on their site and got upset over it…

In the end it may turn out to be a fun challenge between OPT and their team and they can move on.
  • The guy is seriously all about just whoring himself out, he now wants to have the tournament between OPT and BS played at Playground Poker in Montreal. I'm assuming because he gets some sponsership from Playground.

Well you did start this with personal insults against this guy saying he uses 'gimmicks' and 'he hasn't even played in any WSOP event' before (that makes you a better player because you placed 137th in a $1,500 event??). Then you go on to insult the other members of his group, 'to my knowledge none of these players have done anything worth while in any major poker events.'

Personally I think should be a man and apologize for being a douchbag and move on.

I think you are missing the point Steve. Really, what gives you the right to criticize this guy's poker success?

Jim, you are sooooo off base here... Did you even read any of the stuff on their site..? Plus what Steve said was on his own blog, not like he went looking for an arguement. And I've had much worse said about me... Way too sensitive imo...

    Pokerjah,

Don't be a troll just for the sake of being a troll. Read the actual thread first.
  • I think he was suggesting playground because of the mutal location...both teams would need to travel...We would have dealers...Free food and drinks...and a great poker room to host the action...Jeff has a few friends there so why not use the connections...Where sre you suggesting otherwise...house...basement...lions hall...?

Playgropund makes sense other then its 5-8 hours away lol....

Me personally i could care less where it is...
