What do you do between sessions?
Just wondering what people do to supplement their poker playing.
Actually, nobody I know that well plays poker for a living, although I see some of these guys all the time at the casino. Does anyone on this board consider themselves a professional player? I am sure there are more than a few.
For the rest of us, we work regular jobs and play poker for fun. Although I like to think of poker as my part-time job.
I work in publishing.

I'm a youth counsellor with the John Howard Society of Waterloo - Wellington.
No.. it doesn't fund my poker very well.
As for what I do when I'm not playing poker? Convinving the g/f that I"m not addicted to poker.

I'm also a bass player (every two weeks I play with a "jam band", and spend time between jams learning new songs that we agree on). I'm a poker commentator for CGTV's "Late Night Poker" a few times a week, and I write monthly columns for "Canadian Poker Player" magazine.
That's about it... I don't know how much time I'll have this year to actually play poker. The WSOP (even the preliminary events) is not a sure thing... my schedule might not allow it.
I'm not a professional player.
Interesting thread, Al. It will be cool to find out what everyone does in real life.
Nothing says "I'm not addicted to poker" like chocolate poker chips for Valentine's Day :
Here is a list of some of the titles I have worker on in the past at Moby Games
Vet.
My cat is really sick, can you get me some Ketamine...
On March 1st I take possession of a Cafe in Waterloo and will finally be working for myself!!!!!!
Cool, what made you decide to take over/run your own business?
Do you ever get people come up to you and go "XYZ game crashes my computer" and your reply is "Sir, that's because XYZ is a PS2 game" ??
I don't get that, but sometimes I get “I have game XYZ; have you heard of that? Anyways I can get to point A but I can't get to point C, do I need to go to point B first?"
And my response "I have no idea what you are talking about cause I've never herd about that game."
It's an interesting job, I've seen some pretty bizarre things in my time here. It opens your eyes as to how many people are living among us and coping with major mental health issues.
Other then that, I play a lot of football and baseball in the summer time.
stp
Otherwise I play baseball in the summer. I used to write for a crappy internet site but it went down.
Most of my time is spent with my two boys (get you mind out of the gutter!).
On a serious note I do have a part time job (only about 50-60 hrs a week) running a company that specializes in mechanical systems in hospitals. Â
To that dude that wanted the special K...... I don't think you got a sick cat..... hehehe
I grew up working at my dad Gas Station, never really knew anything other than working for yourself/family.
But, with a wife and 2 kids, it wasn't in the cards until now. Both of my jobs are coming to an end in April, so,
this seemed like the time was right. Even got to name it after my kids...TJ's Cafe (Tyler and Jessica) which I thought was cool...
Sure you are.....

Bit of an ignorant comment.
In the last 13 years I have helped over 1000 people and their families recover from their loses and have my own Psych bills to prove it.
To suggest I was on the "dark side" I find insulting.
If you had a bad experience my apologies from the entire industry, but, don't paint us all with the same brush.
And yes I did have a bad experience and I don't blame all.

Some of them grow moss for god's sake.
I used to work in books, but I am a magazine editor now. We publish Foodservice and Hospitality magazine as well as Hotelier magazine. Anyone who works in a hotel or restaurant probably knows my mags.
