  • Yes.... I was told they are friends and Mike wanted the trophy. Deal was made when Mike was 3-1 dog in chip count. The hand history supports this . Mike Leah is an amazing player and a super nice guy on the table. He is an absolute gentleman and making a deal doesn’t take anything away from him being a top level pro player.

  • Thanks....

everything he said makes sense to me.
  • I like the reply from Pierre Deissler.

On top of that, not one of those ass kissers in that thread mentioned actions like this destroy televised poker. If poker wasn't on tv at least half of those rec players go away. So go ahead and do what you want but you are hurting your 'profession'. It's not against the rules.

  • as far as i know, it wasn't televised. So why would it matter in this case?

although i agree with you, if it was then it would be horrible to watch
  • If it's not televised then do as they please. Although those who came to watch might not be too impressed. Fuck em. Esp if trigs was there.

  • Not a televised event.
  • Even if it was televised, you never see every hand. They get to heads up, the announcers say the players made a deal, cut to Leah waving stacks of cash. End broadcast. It's called editing.
  • Deals are made all the time at final tables. Blame WPT for not "allowing" deal making (i.e. you can make a deal but WPT doesn't like it or help with it). If WPT wasn't stupid about deal making, they wouldn't have had to play it out like that.

  • The value of being a 'WPT Champion' is clearly 0 now if it wasn't before.

WPT and the host casino should facilitate chops but leave a significant portion up for grabs HU.

  • It's not WPT that doesn't allow deals. It's the regulators that doesn't allow a deal to be made

im not sure if "do as you please" is acceptable here....POY points may get compromised because one guy tanked ...I guess by the letter of the law it may of been ok, but buying a title looks real cheesy to me..
  • Agree. Was just wondering if he is a factor in POY and if there it's any value in that award.

Are you sure? I'm not saying you're wrong as I have no idea. However, I have seen comments like this in the news (taken from highstakesdb):

"[FONT=&quot]Although no heads-up deal was mentioned (the WPT do not officially allow 'deals' in the same way that the EPT, for example, do) it became very obvious that one had taken place when play restarted."

AGCO is super strict with their regulations and the casino does not have the ability to deviate it's payout structure (or anything else that was submitted in their proposal for that matter) once it's approved.
