Is there going to be shuttles for the main at either partner hotel?
Still waiting for confirmation on this. I should have a final answer on Monday.
The thing with shuttles is that it is a pretty big expense and although it is a key convenience for some people, our experience is that they are mostly empty and unused.
Anyhow this is all part of the ongoing discussion between Playground and our partner in the event, and I'll have word on Monday.
Hey steve, are you going down for any of the satellites again or buying in direct or even already sattied into it? I'd be interested in heading out for a night to play some satellites again.

i'm buying in directly. Don't have the time to go for any satellites
Casinos will keep pushing these on players if we keep playing them.
You ppl realize that the casino's cost for a rebuy is the same as an initial entry (assuming full stack), right?
So how can you expect a business like a casino/poker room to allow players to rebuy for free, and absorb the cost of that rebuy?
By all accounts I've heard, Playground is a great room, with fabulous customer service, and better run than anything else in this area. That shit ain't free. One day, hopefully, I will get to play there and make that assessment myself.
Remember, it's a business they're running, not a charity for degenerates like us. Try running a business for a while and see how much free product you want to give away.
Hey Glenn, I agree with you like 95% about your post. I think that casinos are a business and that of course it isn't free. I mean we always complain about rakes, and talk about overlays and they need more guarantees etc. But if casinos keep on putting guarantees and having overlays, and want to offer "THE BIG SCORE" type of tournament, its done through multiple day multi entry tournaments. The one part that I don't agree with is that the cost to run the tournament is the same the second time around as the first. The only thing I can see being true is the cost of the extra chips in play but the dealers have already been taken care of in most, but I am not gonna get all nitty and say that the re-entry should have a half price rake, it is what it is and people as stated few times are looking for that big game and are willing to pay that rake more than once to try and take a chance and take down a larger tournament. Anyways, I completely agree with you that people are starting to complain a lot about rakes etc. This isn't online poker, its live and there are costs to that.
Free high-end restaurant food, free drinks, ongoing dealer training and quality control (full time evaluation program), chip runners to keep games running quickly without the 3-4 minute break to do a fill on a full tray. Custodians to fully clean and sanitize every table and chairs the minute a table closes. Clean new felts on a very regular basis. Appropriate security. Free valet service. Advanced marketing and communications programs to make sure that people know about the room and keep coming to fill it up. Money to invest in bringing in large-scale events/tours and invent new events.
And no casino/slots to subsidize the poker room.
And last but not least - the local market conditions set the rake prices long before Playground opened. Though I would question whether players get the value at most other properties.
Re: re-entry - for an event with a single large main event and maybe one smaller event that's worth a pro's time, it is exceedingly difficult at getting the mid-level pro to travel if they feel that they are only doing so for one event and a cooler in level 5 could end the whole thing. The EPT and the WSOP are the *only* major series' that don't offer next-day re-entry and that's because in those events there are multiple big-buy-in events in the series so a player who is coolered can just move on to the next tournament.
As far as a differential price - it's hard to justify that every player that gets the same starting stack to begin a day has not paid the same fee. Each Day is a unique "play" of the event, so the fees apply equally to everyone.
Rebuys (in the traditional rebuy/add-on events) are not raked, but a) those don't work over multiple starting days and b) those really *do* privilege the bigger bankroll over players with more modest bankrolls.
Lastly - next-day re-entry is a different beast than same-day re-entry. There's a lot of innuendo about security and changed patterns of play, but there's little to no real evidence of this. Even in pretty extreme re-entry events such as our Overlay events, there are very very few players who qualify for multiple Day 2s and though I am explicitly looking for it, there is very little evidence of players playing poorly (shoving blind for a lottery-style double-up, for instance) to nakedly take advantage of the structure.
So while there may be a theoretical negative to a rec player's EV due to the nature of a re-entry tournament, there's a very real, practical positive EV in terms of a) much larger prize pools and b) much better fields in general.
Ill be heading to playground to play a satellite for the main event and hopefully apply some of lessons DirtArse taught me in Vegas and not go home with my tail between my legs like the last 2 years lol
I have traveled to this event before with via rail , my ticket cost was 28$ it was crazy the ride is nice, no stress, and wifi the hardest part is when you arrive in Montreal and try and get to the out to main level to grab your cab, if your a big city person you will be fine I was overwhelmed a little bit. But I barley travel and I was alone, there's a lot of people going in different directions and they are busy just follow someone in a suit with no luggage they will lead you out to the best exit with cabs waiting. For the money it truly isn't worth the drive. Only downfall I found was when your eliminated which I hope doesn't happen to u you can not just leave you got grab last minute ticket at station or online and depending when your eliminated train may not run at that time then u have to still book your checkout of hotel

Did bwin.party agree to pay for the shuttles again?
The bridge is open and the highway from the bridge to Playground has been completely re-surfaced.
According to Pont Mercier Bridge - there are no plans for work this month, but there's a small chance that the bridge may go down to one lane in either direction over one of the three festival weekends.
10% up to 14$ per hand that's the rake when I play 1/2 not sure about higher stakes but the bonus when playing cash at playground is all you can eat and drink from the rail while your on the table for free. I would suggest hit and runs, hammer the table while you wait for your food and drink then after you have a full belly play some ssng

That's incorrect. The rake on 1-2 is 10% max 8. The rake on 2-5 and above is 5% max 14.

Did they change it? Or was the dealer taking the wrong rake. I only ever play 1/2 and they were taking 14$ on anything over 150. I asked the dealer why so high at 1/2 and the guy beside me made the joke that the rake was so high because I was ordering food every half hour

Smaller size pizzas when your on the tables playing I guess so they fit on those little food table things that players use. If you eat in the restaurant it's a large pizza. I eat like a horse anyways and try to beat the rake in sustenance lol

Did bwin.party agree to pay for the shuttles again?
It's hard to say how many people will come out, but it should end up being between 18-25 seats awarded in the Overlay.
