I hate when people say "its so sad" at a time like this
its not sad, its what he wanted. he chose to end his life.
gg robin williams.
RW has told people for years he has dealt with mental health issues. He said he was manic / depressive. Now, this - for the ignorant - is when people fluctuate between extreme feelings of elation and enthusiastic energy (manic), and devastating bouts of depression where they haven't the energy to leave their bed, let alone call someone for help or go somewhere. Thoughts of suicide, abuse of substances etc are very common (depressive).
Your statement isn't just incredibly insensitive, it's flat out wrong. But hey...
Look, I don't want to come across as a dick. I'm sad he's gone, I really am. I guess I was just overwhelmed at people being so sad when his whole mystique was being funny and making people happy. Thats how I want to remember him, not being sad because he killed himself.
Suicide hits close to home with me, and I never deal well with it in general.
Everyone deals with death differently. There is no right or wrong way to deal with it. Suicide is a particularly difficult situation obviously. That initial shock of realizing that someone was so sad and overwhelmed that they chose to take their own life. Often people don't even know that the person was feeling that way. This can overwhelm the survivors which in this case goes well beyond the family and friends.
From the looks of the interweb, Robin Williams had an impact on a hell of a lot of people.
Seriously, we were cottaging with friends, and left early Monday morning. Yesterday he got the local paper for Kawartha Lakes, and the editorial cartoon is the classic theatre masks (smiling/sad), except this time BOTH of them are bawling and the banner has "Robin Williams 1951-2014" underneath.
I knew he had been dealing with some problems over recent years, and had suffered bouts of depression in the past (as have many great comics), but this was a complete mind-fuck for all of us. Just stunned for about an hour or so.
Victor Tikhonov, architect of the Great Soviet Red Army squads in the 70's has passed. He is also the one who praised Steve Shutt as the greatest left winger (I think, not a Habs fan) he had ever seen.

Robin Williams dead in apparent suicide - Arts & Entertainment - CBC News
This brought a tear to my eye. He was one of my favourite comedians, I listen to his albums all the time.
Shittiest obit ever. Seriously could they have put less time and effort into it?

Death of a sperm ballet.
At least they gave him quite a bit of time on The National tonight. I was actually surprised.

That is what is sad. He was a good person. He will be a missed person.
Condolences to all who loved him. I know I did.

Had that prick in last years DP. Thanks for hanging on. Jerk.
I need cashflow.
I'm kind of loath to say it, but. I'm kind of supportive of this project and wouldn't feel bad if it finalized.
I used to love these guys.
Ding dong the witch is dead.
Kristy, we really just need a good doomsday to end our unrelenting disappointment fest on this planet.
