March Break Vegas Trip

New Year, time to start planning.

So far it's going to be a solo trip, March 7-12, flying SW out of Buffalo, not sure where I'm staying yet.

If anybody else is considering going around the same time, and wants to meet up, tag along, chop a room, compare notes, buy me a drink, carry my bags, etc., please post here.

  • Slight Change of Plans:

Just booked with SW for $388, but now going from March 12-17.
  • I'm going later in the month for a conference. Extending my trip both before and after but still don't think there'll be any overlap in dates. Tentatively looking at March 20th to April 1st.
  • That's too bad we don't overlap. Coulda crushed a table or two.
  • With Mexico ruled out, I'm now considering Las Vegas for March Break with my kid. Since it will probably be only the two of us, there will be zero live poker for me. :-\ I will only be able to rail Card Dead from the window. :'(

Does anybody know if one can play PokerStars/PartyPoker while in Las Vegas? Can visitors register for the Las Vegas licensed sites like you can in New Jersey?

Vegas with your daughter with no poker? Why? Makes no sense, dozens of much better places with her. Don't imagine you can play either PS or Party anywhere in the US can you? Aren't you risking your account getting frozen?
  • What are the "dozens of much better places"? Many of the Las Vegas resorts are kid-friendly including Circus Circus and Excalibur. Going to the Grand Canyon, Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam and Laughlin are other non-gambling options.

I read that in New Jersey, any visitor can play on the licensed sites. I'm wondering if the same policy applies in Nevada.

Nevada licensed sites are WSOP.com, UltimatePoker etc. so you are right, but PokerStars is not a licensed site. Party is in NJ but that's a different situation.

I can answer to why Vegas isn't a bad option as my kids love it...Cirque, some of the things he mentioned, 2 story arcades you pay only for day passes, boardwalk games throughout the lower floor of Excalibur, weather way better than here and for cheap asses like myself and Blondefish, hotel rooms for $28 to $80 a night instead of $120 to $250. It's economical. Although for me driving saves a ton of cash, so I guess I wonder why not Florida or Atlantic City Blondefish?

Where is this? Any other not-to-miss kids attractions besides AdventureDome and the rides?

Not with my kid, hence the iPad Air, expensive tutor, DisneyWorld in November, Bahamas in January, etc.
    Atlantic City Blondefish?
I've been to Atlantic City, but I don't remember it as kid-friendly as Las Vegas or the above.
  • Don't forget the awesome crime levels!

True. I brought my daughters last year and they had a blast. Depending on the kids' age there's TONS to do. Check my TR from last year.

But not cheap in March tho. Cheapest on the strip are CC and Riv, for about $60/night with weekend stay, then Excal at $80. But then you add the $20 Resort fees and you're at a cool hundo.

I booked TI a while back at $110 as a safety net, and will probably just stay at TI again, even tho I stayed there last year.

Rail away brother, rail away. I'll even offer up a BAP if you start to get the shakes or cold sweats and need a fix.

You'll find me at the Aria 90% of the time, and the Bellagio the other 20% oof the time.

    >:D
  • I'll be there March 11-15. Will spend the days alternating between the pool, the poker tables (Venetian is my fav but might try Aria) and drunk off my ass. Staying at the Luxor (great value).
  • Indoor pool?

There you go BF - just drop your daughter at the pool with The Awesome and you can play lots. >:D

How much you paying at Luxor, incl resort fees, BTW?
  • I am on a simple mailing list for offers and used one for 20% off. Total hotel bill including all the fees and taxes was $353 US ($236 base) for the 4 nights. If you can avoid Fri and Sat nights it's ridiculously cheap ($36-44 per night base) but I had to do one Fri ($112 base).

Direct flight out of Detroit came to $350 US after all fees (one checked bag each way). This will be my first time flying out of DET so we'll see how that goes.

Outdoor pool... I sure hope they are open by then. It was -28 here when I woke up this morning so I'd be willing to swim at anything above about 15 degC with the proper amount of alcohol.

I am spending a few days away from my kids on this trip so I highly recommend not leaving any of yours under my care ;).
  • You should ask about the pools. I was there many years ago and most of the outdoor stuff was closed in the winter months. Things may have changed. Global warming and all. Are the glaciers gone?

Can't remember the name, thing it's Speilberg for some reason, but it's between MGM and the M&M store. We did the CSI experience at MGM then hiked. Lots of really cool sit in with motion type games, daughters enjoyed as much as son.

Personally I prefer places for kids where they don't hand out porn on the street corners.
  • I found a Las Vegas resort for almost as low as the $15/night &^%$#@! "resort fee", :bs: but the flights are much higher than $350. Which sites did you guys use for the cheap flights?

There is still a warrant out for the arrest of pokerJAH's hit-and-run.

How was the CSI thing? I usually go by myself to Vegas but this time my wife is joining for a few days and was wondering about taking her to that.

It was worth doing, something different and was a fun night. Takes a couple hours. Interactive but not over the top. I think it was fairly reasonable price wise for what you get as well.
  • Ummm, no, I'm looking at the Circus Circus resort with AdventureDome, over 3,000 square feet of pools (22-25 C during March Break), Midway, world-class circus acts, and even an "action-packed poker room" for when the kids go to bed! >:D

  • BF... I'm flying spirit air (spirit.com)
  • I booked Southwest out of Buffalo back in January. Prices are now more than double what I paid. I'm also flying on the cheapest days, which was cheaper overall, even with weekend hotel prices. Unless you're at the Luxor on the weekend - ouch!
  • You don't want to stay at CC

How did you get promoted? Comp all red and ultimate powered up now too?
  • What's wrong with the Circus Circus Resort that was just renovated in 2013? Isn't it better than the old Imperial Palace we stayed in?

Has anybody ever used the Las Vegas Power Pass for less than $45/day?
  • Please don't take your kids to CC
