    Trip Report:

    Sunday:

Wake up and called the flight hotline and find out our flight is delayed like 2 hours. :(

Still go to airport early just incase, was suppose to depart at 3:00 p.m. by the time we got in the air it was like 5:30 p.m.

Once in the air somebody had problems breathing, great now we have to go land somewhere, luckily

6 passengers on board were nurses, everything was okay about 15 minutes later. For my 1st flight I did better than I thought, we had a wing seat so not good I guess being a 1st time flier, lil bit of turbulence but was expecting that when going over mountains.

Not a good start to the trip.............

Get to hotel (finally) and the lobby is packed, Thought everyone was in line to check in so I was feeling bummed out even more, but it was just a big group that were together, whew! check in was about 10-20 minutes so not as bad as what reviews said.
Since we arrived late we just stuck around our hotel Monte Carlo, checking out the casino and such.

Monday we woke up early due to time difference I guess, had breakfast and headed to Aria 1st since it was next door, checked bit of the property out and headed into the casino, went to the poker room and thought OMG I am at the famous Aria poker room, being early only 1 table was going
looked like Erik Seidel and a asian female poker pro player ( can't remember her name nor can I find it on google but remember seeing her on t.v. from monte carlo millions tournament) the rest were just regular players.

After Aria went to the Cosmopolitan, was not planning to stop here but whatever, just checked out the casino a bit and moved on.
Next stop was Bellagio, it was about mid morning now, Shit load of people checking out, nice property and good size casino, again being early nothing really going on at the poker room but again I thought WOW I am at the poker room at Bellagio, young kid with a big stack of chips at the one table could have been the 25/50 game but not sure. No poker pros or familiar faces :(.
Onwards we went to Ceaser's palace, nice hotel and pool area, I hate the casino here, very confusing, had lunch at Muncha bar? Prices are up there a bit but big portions and good food, had the burger and it was great!.
Went back to our hotel for bit of a rest and finished off at our hotel's casino again.

    Tuesday:

1st stop was mgm Grand, holy crap this place is big, don't think we even saw 1/2 of this place, as the same with Monday only played a lil bit at the casino and moved on, took the monorail down to Harrah's, holy crap this place is busy, played a bit at the casino, folks were not winning anything but I got up to 70 bucks on a penny slot machine and played over a hour on 20 bucks so like Harrah's, HAHA.

After that walked down the strip to Venetian, I must say I really like that part of the strip with Mirage and Treasure Island across the street with like waterfalls and palm trees and such, it was very nice and might stay at that end next time.
Venetian was another HUGE place, we checked out the retail area and where the boat ride was, grabbed a $8.00 milkshake and was asked if I wanted whip cream with it, for 8 bucks fucking right I want whip cream, o.k. size but it was good. Went to the casino and probably only saw not even half of it.

Started walking back up the strip and when we got to Ceaser's the big rain storm started, here we are on a metal escalator and it's lightening out and I am the tallest thing around, so screw this and ran up the escalator and across the bridge to the Bellagio where we got the free tram back to Monte Carlo.

Had bit of a rest and got a taxi down to Freemont Street, very nice cab driver, he took the highway but it was backed up, he was very sorry as he did not know there was a accident up ahead and traffic was backed up, but he took like the shoulder and zoomed down a part of the way and I am liked oh ya baby now were rocking and this guy kicks ass.

We had the buffet at the Golden Nugget, once again good food, cranky guy slicing your prime rib but only bad thing about the place.

The freemont street experience was not going to start till 8 p.m. so we walked around the area a bit and played in the binion's, liked this casino but probably cause I had a good hit on the slots, but it felt like more people winning down there but it was busy. We walked down the street as we still had some time before the show began, like wow what a party place down there, D.J.
playing on a stage and playing 1 of my favourite tunes so like hell ya we are jamming now, quite a few drunks down there so you really have to be aware of your surroundings.

The freemont street experience was good, short show but meh. Walked down the other side and needed to find a restroom, found a casino with like no name ( the D or something) played a bit in there, hit nothing and the time was about 9:30, so it was starting to get even more wild so I am like let's get out of here, so taxi's were down this side street, 2 black guys standing on the corner and as we walked by them the smaller one comes running up to my dad and says " hey man, do you need a cab?" So right here I am thinking this is not good, my dad asks " are you a cab driver?" guy answers yes I think, can't really remember, but my dad starts saying he is a cab driver back where we come from and the guy goes REALLY? LOL my dad is not he was just leading
this guy on it was fucking hilarious. We got into a cab that was already there and not with this guy.

    Wednesday:

Went to New York New York first, went to All America Restaurant for breakfast, slooow service but good food except for the hash browns, found them on the dry side.

Nice hotel and property and the casino was alright, we liked this place overall.

Next went to the Excalibur to catch the tram down to Mandalay bay, again nice spot and big casino and again maybe we saw like only 1/2 the place. Hit lil bit on the slots and after the hour or 2 we moved on.

Caught the tram down to Luxor and checked that property out, nothing really to report here, nothing bad about the place that we saw just breezed through it. So we were ahead of schedule a bit and the folks wanted to go to the Flamingo so over there we went, it was about lunch time so went to the cafe there and got a window seat of the pool area, very nice pool area! Again the service was sloooooooooow, like wtf is with the service times here but again the food portion was big and good food once you do get it but a lil pricey here for food.

Did awful in the casino and moved on, went back to our hotel to catch a taxi to the Rio due to wanting to see where the wsop is played and your guy's suggestion, well this was one of the biggest disappointments of the trip, the outside is nice busy inside, not 1 thing anywhere about wsop like I know it's pretty much over but like pictures of past champions hanging on a wall or

something would have been nice, could not even find where they played it, the poker room inside

the casino was like next to nothing, no wsop merchandise in the stores zip, nothing!
Pretty bummed out and a waste of taxi fares to get there and back hated the place really, only good thing was got the free alcoholic drinks from a waitress in a real skimpy uniform.
Went back to our hotel for dinner as we wanted to use our comps that we built up as we did not know when we would be back to Vegas. Went to the Cafe and very good service and food, had the turkey dinner and it was again huge portions.

We went to catch the tram over to the Bellagio to see the fountains, it was packed thought found a empty place by the rail but the guy beside us say's "we are going to take wedding pictures here, can you not stand here" like do you have this area reserved? What a ignorant fuck, My dad was not happy and made a comment but we moved further down where it was more empty and still a good view anyway.
Short show again but still nice and it really get's the people still to watch it. So we decided to go over to Planet Hollywood, pretty noisy and wild place but I thought it would be, played a bit but did not stay long.

Decided to go back to Bellagio and catch the tram instead of walking up the strip, mistake here as it was still packed with people around the Bellagio lake as shows were every 15 minutes and it got worse the closer you got to the front doors, so about halfway up I said screw this and went through 1 of the lil openings in the brush out onto the driveway, my folks stayed on the sidewalk
and they were yelling at people who were standing in the middle of the walk, LOL it was funny but ya a lil stressful.

Got back to our hotel and folks wanted to play some more, I watched them for a bit and went back to the room as I was very tired.

Overall a good trip, I hate flying still as it's just too much stress with security and delays and all that.

Except for the one guy at the Golden Nugget everyone on staff at all places were friendly and nice and our hotel was not bad, minor imperfections but nothing like what you read in people's reviews on the internet.

Bad things were, could not hit shit in like any casino's, except for the 2 places mentioned above and even that were nothing to go on about and the flying part's.

Good things are the food like I said, but it is a lil pricey in some spots, taxi drivers overall were good almost every place went too I like except Ceaser's and the Rio but some of the places are too big.

I also want to say is I don't know what all this talk is about it being slow down there, it was busier than I thought it was going to be, like downtown on a Tuesday evening and freemont street was packed!

Also saw quite a bit of interviews and new employees starting at 2 different casino's so that's good to see.

It may be a lil slower than years ago from what the taxi drivers and my folks were saying but it's certainly not "dead" down there.

We are talking about going down again maybe next year sometime, just got to save up more money and try and find a lil better flight times maybe incase their is a delay or whatever.

As we wanted to see alot of different places we kinda rushed a bit, next time we will just pick a few places we want to spend time in more plus less walking. We may rent a car for a day to hit outside of Vegas as well.

No, We did not stay long at any one place except our casino the odd night so guess I could have checked out the poker room and see if anything was going on, they were advertising tournaments throughout the day but I don't see how they would fill, like Monte Carlo is not up there for people's choices to play poker I would think.

Like I said we were early birds so nothing was going on in poker rooms when I went to them but next trip going to take more time in places and play.
  • nice TR philli. glad you had a great time.
  • Sounds like a good experience, nice TR.
