Going to vegas!

So I took the plunge and just booked a trip to Vegas for Sept dates.

My 1st trip to vegas and pretty excited but also very nervous. I am not a heights person and have not been in a plane since very young so flying and getting past whatever problems at airport etc etc will be the 1st step and really hope I don't come across any problems at all, just want a few days to relax and not worry about shit.

Right now I am planning to see about 6 different properties or about 2-3 a day with stops at MGM Grand, New York New York, Luxor, Mandalay Bay as these are right in the area where I am staying, also is a stop to Bellagio for the big cash games!:D ok I just want to see the fountains.:).

We also plan to go see the freemont street experience but kinda worried how much a cab will be to get down there and back. Would like to stop by the pawn stars pawn shop too but have a feeling that might not happen.

We have been checking that out already in regards to cab fares and such, been looking at where are good places to eat that are not too expensive ( dam right we are hitting a buffet or two though!).

Are there any sites where we can check out for coupons for restaurants and what not and any other advice will be appreciated.:)

  • Oh another question.......

It says on my booking confirmation the plane leaves from terminal 1, but the return flight is going to terminal 3! Is that right?

My dad says something is wrong as it should be the same terminal for both flights as it is the same airline.

In before best trip report thread ever.
  • It's around $25 from strip to freemont, think that was a town car too. Don't worry about coupons, though you can preview their site for idea of offers, tixs4tonight are everywhere and if you go early (only the day of) you'll find tons of deals, including restuarant discounts available always.

My last trip in July I landed at terminal one, left from terminal 3. Just make sure your cabby knows international (like Westjet) departe from there.

Terminal 3 opened mid trip, so yeah that threw a few off
  • Ps. They aren't even remotely attached, very busy street and a few blocks Seperate them, so don't get dropped off and wrong one and try to hoof it the other.

Above all, have a f$&king blast. Welcome to the LV addicts club in advance. You'll never love/hate quite anyplace like it.
  • You are missing most of the best poker rooms in Vegas. Dont waste your time at these places. aria, bellagio, venetian, wynn.
  • If you aren't in a hurry to get downtown you can take the "Deuce" tourist bus which is a few bucks per person and runs from the south end of the strip all the way to Fremont St. Not fast but cheaper than a cab and it has an upper deck where you can see the sights along the way.

Don't miss the Venetian including the shopping area, IMO the most amazing "theming" of any resort in Vegas. Of course the Bellagio fountains are awesome too. Really Vegas is just all-around awesome, hope you have a great time!

Thanks, not playing poker at all the places I mentioned, just places I would like to see. :)

Actually Venetian is a possible stop as well as maybe Ceaser's palace, still planning it all out.;)

  • Aria is another possible stop. My dad asks so you will be looking out for the big name poker players?

Well duh! of course I will be.:wink2:
  • Paradise Buffet on Fremont should be one of your must dos.
Pawn Stars is a big commitment of time, you'll wait an hour or so to get in, 90% the crew won't be there and besides some overpriced yet ultra cool (sorta) swag, 99.9% you won't buy from shop. The survivor torch is cool and all, but 7k can be spent so many better ways in LV...

Aria will have JRB and is not a soft room. It's the "spot", much better off hitting the rooms you first mentioned for easier money. Venetian is a must, just everything is cool there, but I get stuck the worst there personally...not because of poker, but there is this damn Michael Kors to look out for...

As for your star hunting, take a big hit of LV this time around and be sure to go back for WSOP for that.

Thanks again, ya the early plans are going down to fremont early and having dinner down there and walk around a bit.:)

+1. I was wicked disappointed with the PS store. It's way smaller then you think (like all things on TV) and most of the floor is taken up with the shit they sell promoting themselves, with a few of the interesting pieces from the show at the back. IMO your time would be better spent at Caesars's and/or V.
Spend an evening just walking the Strip. This will be way more entertaining than you think. So much interesting stuff to watch at ground level.

Don't forget the 7 Buffet's for 24 hrs pass from the Harrah's properties. It's $45 but you can time it for 2 dinners, so it works out to less then $15 a meal. Not bad for AYCE. Paris and the Rio are the best of the group. Stay away from the buffet at Imperial Palace. Totally gross. You can grab a free shuttle ride to the Rio from Bally's. Gotta check out the home of the WSOP, right?

Players Cards- First thing you should get upon arrival to a new casino. If you are spending any money gambling or shopping, hand over your card to earn those comps!

Have a good trip. Can't wait for the TR.
  • HTF could I forget about the BBQ at Ellis Island? It's a short walk from the Strip down Flamingo Rd on Koval Lane. That's the intersection where Tupac was murdered. Great BBQ and an on-site brewery.

If you have the possibility and really want to see Freemont at it's best, try to hit it on a Fri or Sat evening. Wayyyy more stuff going on..

Yeah, but do Mom and Pop want to see the trannie parade and hooker sweeps? Might be Philli's thing, but . . .

j/k have a great time, Philli
  • Skimmed this thread, I've been to Vegas a few times and stupidly found out about the pinball museum after my last trip. I would go there...but then that's me.

  • The Black Hole is a fun machine, but my best table was Black Knight.
  • We hit the Pinball HoF on the last trip. Great way to blow off bad beat tilts. It is a little far off the strip through. Not sure how much a cab would be.
  • Used to crush Meteor.
  • Terrible movie . . . decent machine, if a little stingy on the freebies, iirc.

    Yes thanks for the education.

Also, try to time getting there before sunset, as the sun falls you will suddenly find yourself surrounded by a party, it's crazy how it goes from quiet to happening.

+1 to Johhnies recommendation of Rio buffet; hit it first time last trip and it is better than Paradise, miles of food. Plus being a poker player, kinda a must stop and WSOP stuff should be greatly discounted now there.

PlayersCards ultra important; get as many as you can at different casinos, usually come with free stuff for new members, so some comps to get you started. Plus if your playin, their payin, so don't be afraid after any degen sessions to go ask at the rewards desks for what they are going to give you. It's a competitive market and they want to dazzle you at first.

Sadly, I can promiss you that you most likely won't hit everything you want to first trip...this unfourtunetly leads to going back again and again and again to try to accomplish these and your new finds each time; if only you knew a crowd of people who might be interested in going back next time?

    Hmmmm
  • its about to get epic up in here.
  • philli + LV + strippers + blow imo
