My guess, is marban is connected to the horse racing industry.
He's also never played poker against Pinhead.
My guess is....... Marban....... Is the name if his horse.
Also, adding slots = great idea, adding poker tables = WTF worst politicians ever? They actually make slot games now with artificial horse races as bonus games, I wonder if those perform better than the actual horse races...

good read,,,ive bet horses my whole adult life...and dabbled in ownership, of standardbreds...so when i read off the cuff , smart ass remarks by people who know nothing about which they speak, i get my back up..sorry...
Well, I have read most of the stuff that is out there on this . . . yeah, it sucks that the gov't is changing the rules. how many extra years did the horse industry get out of the deal as it stood before the changes? would the industry have survived at all? I doubt it. does that mean we have to help keep it alive in perpetuity? Nope. You are not always entitled to your entitlements, no matter what you may think. Get over it.

You sound like a fine, upstanding individual. I don't know why people on this forum dislike you.

Just dropped in this evening as I was going past. None there as yet, scheduled for July 12th I was told... Area where they are going is already cleared and is in the middle of the slot machine floor. ugh... Looks to be room for 3 or 4 tables.

Family member needs talking to. I was told 1 pokerz and 1 blackjack...which made me wonder. Thanks.
I have played on those tables a couple of years ago at Lac Leamy casino (in Hull). Before they hired and trained dealers they used them for tournaments. The good thing is that they keep track of all your chips. But you lose a lot of the "feel" of playing real people I think. It is a strange combination of online and live play, for sure.
I think these tables would be great for playing against beginners and casual players. There would be no misbetting (declaring one bet and placing another) or fumbling of chips. You always know how many chips each player has, too. I'm looking forward to giving them a try.
Has anybody played at Mohawk recently? Is it as juicy as the posters claim Woodbine to be?
I didn't know that Mohawk was closer to me than Woodbine until today, so if I play a Brantford tournament and bust out early, I may try to check out the electronic tables for the first time at Mohawk.
I'm in the anti-gambling town of Oakville. Are there only two electronic tables at Mohawk? It does sound like the 11 tables at Woodbine are way better.
Mohawk is soft last I checked, but not often busy.
They rarely have a game going before 7pm, and don't even open the room till 4.
Woodbine is way better.
Where u at anyways?
Woodbine is also better because most of the regs at Mohawk all know each other and act as friends, so you seem to be playing the group not the individual.
For an example, see the Atlantic city part of Rounders.
Me and my buddy Schlager went to Mohawk yesterday, skipped / missed the tournament, and just hit up some cash game action to relieve the money finishers of their fortunes.... anyways, call in, sign up, get there, and who do I see? BIGBOB!!! Love that guy!! He plays a bit, and gets donkey-stacked by Jeff, plays a bit more and, as always, graciously leaves the table. Seriously, love this dude.
There was another Miltonite woman there, and she was fun for many reasons; she was terrible and spewed money, she actually thought I may be a Dr. because of my login, and also we had her convinced that Jeff (who is 2 years older than me) was dating my mom up to and including me calling him Dad.

P.S. Oh yea, and I ended up up nearly three bills.. also a plus.
Great stories. My wife and I actually dropped by there yesterday at around 10 am, and the poker tables were closed! They said they did not get a lot of players and didn't open them until later.
What time were you there and did they only use one table for the tourney?
Having been to all four electronic poker locations in the GTA, here is my review of Mohawk:
- Coles Notes: good for casual NL players in the Halton/Waterloo region that play for fun; probably the most convenient location for the majority of forumers to try out electronic poker.
- Best time to go is on Sunday when the only MTT for the week is scheduled. The 1/2 cash game gets started at around 4:30 PM.
- Since this $90+$10 tourney usually sells out at 20 players anyway, players should ask for a bigger prize pool such as the $110+$10 buy-in ($2,200 pool). Then a $170+$10 or $220+$10 Deep Stack ($4,400 pool) can run once a month (first Sunday). I will fill out one of those green feedback forms next time I'm there; a casino manager is supposed to phone you if you want to be contacted back.
- Cash games: buy-ins are only $50-$200 for 1/2, which makes the 10% $5 max rake harder to beat ($60-$300 buy-in at Woodbine). When there are only <= 4 players, max rake goes down to $2 but still at 10%.
- The cash game is usually only 1/2 and less than 10 players. See DrTyore's and my post about the 6-handed tables we played. Like many 1/2 tables that are short-handed or short-stacked, too many pots <= $50 that are being raked for the full 10% means that only the best player (or 2) in the table can win in the long-run (but still much better than playing slots or other games outside the poker room).
- Unlike Georgian Downs where you can get undiluted drink cans directly from the poker fridge and the poker host can radio in your drink order directly to the bar, :cool2: I never saw a waitress at Mohawk and players had to wait for somebody with an open cart of drinks (full of melting ice) going around the entire casino. Unlike GD, Western Fair, Brantford, Rama, etc., Mohawk & Woodbine have neglected to have a self-serve drink machine for when you don't want to wait a long time to quench your thirst.
- With the 50¢/hour bettable reward, no tipping and $5 max rake, Mohawk is a better place to play for 1/2 players than Casino Niagara, Seneca or other rooms with a higher rake including the terrible BBJ rake.
- While I have found out that almost everybody I had played poker with have now settled for just playing poker casually for the fun of it (such as home games) as opposed to taking the difficult steps necessary to make decent profits online or in a casino, for the couple of forumers taking a serious shot at live cash games such as PokerJah, Woodbine 2/5+ or Fallsview is better for them.

The London fair location has 3 poker tables and 1 black jack so wouldn't be surprised if Mohawk has the same..

I think the game normally doesn't start until mid afternoon? Like 2 or 4? We got there around 5, and played until about 8-9?
