  • How much does the pass cost? And how do you get it?
When you get to the casino, go to the VIP desk outside the poker room to apply for a VIP Pass. After playing for ~3 hours, you can get a free CNE season pass and free parking pass!

Last year when I went to the CNE with my family, I snuck off to the casino while my kid was at Kids' World watching Doo Doo The Clown. >:D I was seated right away and applied for a pass. The poker room managers recognized me and insta-approved my pass instead of having to wait 3 hours. After I won several hundred dollars, I went back to Doo Doo The Clown.

  • My mistake sorry, didn't mean to say 2-5 limit was there. It will be 5-10 up to 25-50 being spread. My source is the manager incharge of training and hiring all the poker staff is a close friend. And they will have 5-10, 10-20, 15-30 and 25-50.

Thanks for the update. Can you get info on the rake and/or session fee?
  • that I will get for you. I will see them this evening and inquire for everone.
  • The first day it's open will be Civic Holiday. Any thoughts on whether the fish will be at the tables or driving home from the cottage?

In general, what's the best time to play there? My wild guess would be 6 pm to midnight or 1 am.

Long weekends are the best time to play poker, imo. Not everyone has a cottage and most are recreational players, looking for an evening of fun. I'll be at RAMA that weekend.

how could you give up DooDoo time! -EV for sure ;)

anyone got their VIP letter in the mail yet?
  • they will have 5-10, 10-20, 15-30 and 25-50.
That's good that there will be no 2-5 rake trap. Before the Ex opens, all 24 tables will probably get filled, so there will be less 5-10 tables opened and more wannabe pros taking shots at 25-50. Having up to 25-50 Limit is a game-changer and will not only shut down many Toronto illegal clubs for the summer, but many GBH and Brantford regulars will play at the CNE Casino instead.

If the AGCO has approved 25-50 Limit where players can lose $600 per hand, :o then hopefully No Limit will finally get approved next year. Until then, as soon as I get my VIP Pass, it will be back to Doo-Doo time and playing online!

I got that as well....all you have to do is go sign up with the VIP host, play for a bit then take breaks....it's pretty easy.
  • I will repeat myself...limit poker is the devil!
  • Hey guys

If you are looking for limit game of 25/50 or higher game, come down to the GBH. The rake is only 5% to a max of $5.00 with half rake max. is $3.00. If we have a table and dealer available we will do it. The earlier in the day the better. Just ask the list person to start a list.

The 30/60 game is awesome and i also hear the kill games are crazy action too....
  • Most of are game have crazy action and the 20/40 full and half kill games are being played in both Holden and Omaha.

Do you by any chance work for Blue Heron?
  • I am the poker room manager.
  • Are there not multipule poker room managers at GBH.

Nice to have you here. :)

I'd explain why I don't go to the Blue Heron more often but don't want Milo to get exasperated with me again. :D

    It's either:
    a) there are too many regulars there, so cheating MUST be occuring, or
    b) the buses don't go out that far.
  • Hi guys

Yes there are two assistant poker room managers that report to me. I am the one who make the changes and has the final call.

Anyrag if you have an issue about the GBH you can send me a pm or email me at jconnolly@gbhcasino.com and we can talk, so that Milo can have his piece of mind.

At the end of the day, I have always been open to listen to player issues and see how and if they can be fixed.

As for cheating, we pride ourself selves in running a clean game. With regards to distance for Toronto well it is what it is.
  • Hi, cardsusa,

I have no concerns about cheating at your poker room because it's never been an issue. My reason for not getting out there more often is that I don't drive.
  • GBH runs a good cardroom and I am glad cardsrusa is here to help us. Keep up the good work.

Let's make keep the "problems/issues" in a proper format so that we get information delivered. We all know that each room has its hiccups but having a voice to discuss this with is great :)
  • Cardsusa....I'm a regular at GBH. The only complaint I have is the inconsistency of your dealers. If you're going to set rules, have every single one of your dealers enforce the rules. Checking with chips and forward motion rarely gets called on by your dealers (aside from the ones that know what they're doing).

There is a select few supervisors that I have a big problem with. Some attitude adjustment is required. Just remember the players are the ones that keep each and every one of you employed.

Other than that, best limit action casino in the GTA!
  • Anonymous81 my email is in the post. Please feel free to sent me an email with any information about the attitudes that need adjusted, names would be good. I hate giving the good ones a hard time. Let's bring this post back to what it was meant to discuss. Sorry Blackmagicz we kind of got off topic.

yup, been there, done that, I printed it on a t-shirt :) seriously. but it's close action and I'm still a live game newb after 3 years so the no foldem grind is good fun.
  • I got that as well....all you have to do is go sign up with the VIP host, play for a bit then take breaks....it's pretty easy.

yes sir, I did it last year. not really a complaint as I"m going to play regardless but I got the down side of variance with the request for the second year in a row. s'all good

prolly be there Monday if I don't take a swing out to niagara on the bike and grab some wine country goodies. then tuesday for sure
  • Speaking of bringing this thread back on topic, is anybody going to the CNE Casino on opening day today? :) Since PartyPoker abruptly stopped its rake-free promotion, I'm thinking of driving to the CNE on Tuesday, or Thursday after the Brantford tournament. Whoever goes there first, please post a trip report, including about the 25/50 and 15/30 games.
  • There is almost guaranteed to be cheating going at the GBH games (I have never played there) ranging from soft collusion to outright team play. That's the reality of casino gambling. Staff can't / won't do anything about it.
