    The 4th wire is another positive or neutral, there ground is hidden somewhere around the box. There are two pairs of wires one for the fan, one for the fan light, all four of which come from one switch.

    now can I just twist all four onto the new fan hot with not, neutral with neutral...or do I shunt them, or remove them (maybe not even possible?
