PoY Points:

TO BE FINALIZED... CURRENTLY ROUGH NUMBER

I'm not sure exactly how to award points here as awarding points for an 64 person tournament seems a bit much for a double-shootout.
Basically, the idea is that we award the final table 1st - 8th, points based on an 32 person tournament. For the pre-lim, 2nd-3rd(ish) would also get awarded points. (Obviously, since you can play multiple pre-lims, only the high score you achieved would apply.) Here's a sample.

Finals: 1-57 2-41 3-33 4-29 5-26 6-23 7-22 8-21
Pre-lims: 2-18 3-15 4->9-0

THE RULES

This tournament is comprised of 8, 8-player games SnG's where the winner of each Pre-Lim Event, wins a ticket to the Final Table. Your entry pays for your way into two pre-lim events (ie. You'll play in 2 of the 4 different Heats.)

If less than 7 players play (due to low sign up numbers), the $20 second place award for 2nd is removed.

TO SIGN UP: When you reserve your spot, please indication which night(s) (of the 4 pre-lim nights) you're able to play. (You also need to be able to play in the finals!) For example, if I was unable to play on Day 2, I'd sign up by saying..

"Sign me up!! 1, 3, or 4." The Heats you play will be a random drawing of the Heats you're able to play in. If you can only play in one heat, I'll consider opening up $15 spots for one heat if we don't fill up with 32 players.

All games will be hosted at Bristol Street.

With the Date of the Events pre-chosen, participation in the tournament means that you ARE free for the Finals. If you win a ticket, but have to miss the finals, you will be awarded 8th place money and your chips will be removed from the table.

BUT WAIT!!!!

"What if I win seats in both of my Heats???" If this happens, congrats!! You must be a level 5 meta game player, or a complete luck-box. Either way, when you bust out of the Final Table, you not only win the payout of the place you busted out at, but you also win the payout of the next highest finish.

(eg. Let's say there are two players that win both of their pre-lim matches, meaning that, instead of a Final Table of 8 players, there's only a Final Table of 6 players. The first of those players pushes the first hand with AA, gets called by Zithal who's holding 72o, and a sick beat busts them out first. That player gets paid 8th AND 7th place money. The second player then goes on to win the tournament. They'd then collect 2nd AND 1st place money)

  • one question: how does the win 2 prelims get paid twice work in other situations....I understand the example given above. But what if someone places 2nd? Do they get 3rd and second place money? and if so what does the guy that got 3rd get? Maybe I'm just overlooking something.
  • It should be you can't win twice. If you win on your first try you get $15 back and your spot opens to someone else.
  • 1 & 2 plz
  • Need to pull out. Stuff got busy.
  • Now where's the fun in that? :)

I think the easiest way to thinking about it is that you have two of you playing at the final table if you win both pre-lims (though, with one stack and both of you bust out at the same time when you bust.)

If you were the only one that won twice and you end up heads-up at the final table and don't win, that means 5 other players have busted out claiming the (8th, 7th, 6th, 5th, and 4th place spots and money)

If you bust out next, you get 3rd and 2nd for a total of $256. (Which, I agree seems a little odd as that payout is greater than first place.)

Does this change the dynamic too much? ie. Will people be gunning for you as your elimination will move everyone else up two money payouts?

If people strongly object, I can do moose's suggestion, but thought it'd be interesting if there was a chance that you could win $384 (by winning both pre-lims as well as the finals.)
