I am working right now. A lovely 2000h - 0800h shift. I'm heading to the Fallsview basically right after work. I should be there by 0930h at the latest. I figure I am going to be hanging out on the lower level by the Tim Hortons until it starts.
Since I've only met two PFC members since I've been here I'll try to remember to keep my card protector on the table in case anyone would like to sit and chat before the tourney starts
(tall white guy, short brown hair, glasses - will look like I need some sleep)
I will be out there to rail and than might head over to what should be pretty soft at casino niagara ( I figure all the good players will be in the tourney or I will catch the people busted out on tilt!) hahahaha
Most likely be there later on at night like 6-7ish
5-10cm overnight here in St. Catharines so far - the Falls will be the same if not more.... nothing to stop everyone from coming but please add a few minutes to your ETAs and take care getting here.
I've checked the weather channel, online and webcams and they show less than 1 cm of snow in Niagara Falls, etc. Traffic looks slow, but I hope to be at the Fallsview registration desk soon after it opens at 9 AM. I may go to and from the poker room to play a cash game and register for the satellites, since I still have a $350, $1,050 and $1K voucher to use up.
I am making this my Solid Gold Lock of the Week. Forum member wins the $1,000 event, fo sho. Even if it's Fed . . . rumour has it he's playing, but doesn't want us to know.
well live is a bit of a stretch. down to 2000 at the first break. lost most of that with QQ vs KK (me with the QQs). i am at table 1 seat 8 if anyone wants to say hi while i am hanging on

I was wondering where you were. I ended up not playing my voucher either.
Of all the listed forumers that I thought were playing, I only recognized two. Unfortunately, they were both out by the time I left Fallsview. By the way, there were dozens of players waiting outside the poker room, complaining about the very long waits with only 3-5 tables being used from noon, including just one satellite table. :frown:
how long did day 1 last and how many people move on to day 2? also how many spots got paid out, what was a min cash worth and are any forumers still left?
Bill, how did slope do ?? Will I be able to bring a rack of baby back ribs to the table and get cards all sticky ?
Good Luck to the rest of ya.
Slope busted an hour after I did.
I don't have any epic hands to post. My problem was, I played ABC poker and did not get the hands.. I did double up on hand 5 when my 99 flopped 49Q. I bet , get raised, I push and guy has q,10 with flush draw but does not get there.
You need to make your own luck sometimes and be creative. I did not.
They were paying out top 29 I think.
1st, 80k
2nf 40k
3rd, 20k
4th 10k
and then down from there. (those numbers are approx from memory)
The tourney was well run but definitely needed more chips. 10k would have been great. Not just because I busted early but because players were dropping like flys.
They were finishing the day after level 8 and I bet there would only be 100 players left.
I forget what min payout was but there was not a huge diff between 29th and 11th.
Poker room was backed up big time. I may swing over to Seneca this aft.
Top 27 paid - 27th just over $3700.
I finished 55th, about 45 minutes from the end of Day One. Never hit a hand. Not once. I stayed in that long betting completely on air.
I am lighting 2.5k on fire tomorrow. There were 100 tix left last night.

That is gross. Probably 250 players out on day 1.
They definitely need to make an adjustment for their next tourneys.
I busted out during the third level. Waited patiently but was so short stacked that really had to put my chips in once i committed on any hand. Bust out hand was 77 (me) against ... AA. Oh well.
Despite my whole trip being an utter loss (cash games, tourney and casino games) i wasn't unhappy with my play in the tourney, just couldn't get cards to support me at the big moments.
The wait for tables in the poker room was absurd, i waited 4 hours for a 2/5 seat and 6 hours for a 5/5 seat.
I think they should have considered opening up a few cash game tables down in the tournament pit, considering they had dealers on staff and were literally buried with poker players.

Good luck to all those who end up playing today.
TAKE IT DOWN!!
Can't wait to see which cpf'er takes it down.
Good luck to all, and trip reports are being looked forward to.
