  • Won't lie...hate the way you played all 3 hands that you posted. But hope you had a good trip.
  • you should have come back from the bathroom to see if chris would shake your hand. then tell him how excited you were to meet him...
  • tl;dr

  • TR makes no sense. You are on his left but he checks his bb, so you called UTG with K10o.

You open the action with 66 but Moneymaker reraises to 45 so you did that UTG as well?

    WTF?

So if he is really on YOUR left then he announces he is betting $50 in the dark out of turn? WTF? Sorry I'm lost.

About an hour into the new table, Chris returns to my table and the action begins. Can you say a cannon. He makes it $15 pre-flop every hand. If he gets any callers, he makes it $80-$100 on the flop. He proceeds to bust a couple players with some lucky breaks. I decide to play very tight and wait for selected premium hands before I mix it up with him. On most hands there would be no pre-raises as everyone expected Chris to raise anyway. If some raised before the action got to Chris, he would triple their raise. My first hand against Moneymaker I get AQs and just call. He raises to $15, as expected, and he gets three callers. The flop comes A high and it is checked around to me. I make it $45 to go and Moneymaker looks at me and re-raises to $180. Of course it is folded around to me and I have a big decision to make. I have around $400 behind and know if I call he will push me all-in on the turn. I decide to fold and wait for a better spot and of course he shows 45o to make a point, he is the king of the table.

    WAT??? WHAT A TRAINWRECK!!

A little later he gets a little suspicious of my calls so he just checks in the BB when I have K10. The flop comes QJ2 and I have an open ended straight. Another player makes it $30 and I decide to call and hope Chris comes along for the turn. It gets to Chris and he makes it another $100 to go. Its folded to me and I have to fold because I just don't want to be chasing for all my stack.

    WAT??????????????

I go card dead for a while and then get 66. I decide to start the action with a $15 raise and of course Moneymaker makes it $45. Its folded around to me and I decide that its time to gamble and call. The flop is about to be dealt and Chris announces that he is betting $50 blind. The flop comes 692r and I have hit my trips. I announce quickly that I am all-in (for about another $400) and Moneymaker ponders. He starts asking if he can see one of my cards and I tell him it will cost him $400. He thinks for a minute or so and then decides to fold flipping over AQ. He tells me that if a Q or A had hit the flop he would have called me. I realize later that I probably should have slowed played my trips and I missed my chance to double through the prior world champion.

    WATTTTTTTTTTT??????????????????????????????

and unfortunately it was not a very profitable trip to say the least. Not sure about the title 'Sin City' but rather 'Bad Beat City' in my case.

I think you are confusing god awful play with bad beats. You missed a ton of profit in all of these hands -- it amazes me that some people read these forums every day and still play like this. Do you not adjust to the players at your table when choosing your lines? Hope you had a fun trip other than poker.

I wasn't referring to these hands as bad beats but rather other hands where I got my money in ahead and lost the hand when the river paid the other player off (other sessions).

I probably should have called the AQ hand but it was pretty early in the session against Moneymaker so I felt a better opportunity would have come along later to make money. The trip 6 hand was definitely misplayed (which I realized afterwards) but he was making all in calls without hesitation so I expected he would look me up.

If he's calling all-in's light don't you think you would be ahead in most situations?

Wouldn't you want to take a few shots to double up when you have a med-high strength hand knowing he's likely going to be calling you light??

Holy shit that's really bad.. like so bad that maybe you should give up poker bad.

didn't feel like risking my entire stack with top pair; the re-raise was what made me fold. he would typically make a continuation bet on every flop but if he was bet into he would normally fold, not unless he had a decent hand. If this hand had come up later in the session, I would likely had made the call with a bit more information on the cards he was re-raising with. He hadn't shown many bluffs at that point.
  • well which was it? he's either playing like a maniac or he's not. In your post, you allude to him tossing chips around.. you make top pair good kicker and then decide that he's not bullshitting.
  • Great trip report........better luck next time.

Maybe loosen up your sphincter a little for better profit.

    WOW, deja vu..

oh wait, it is just the fold AA preflop in a cash game thread that Jah started last year...

or the go back to school flame war...

or any of his other posts ever.

nice guy, not a poker player..save your steam for extra-secksy moob photo shoots imo...at least I'LL appreciate the effort.

How can you be on this forum almost every day and still play poker like this??? Are you waiting to showdown a straight flush vs a maniac? Give me second pair and I'll ship vs certain players. This is so bad that I feel shame for the entire forum.

  • Getting pwnd by moneymaker = suicide watch :)

On a serious note though Jah does bring up a point of "single session poker" where you are essentially only playing with 1 or 2 buyins behind you. I think I make a lot of -EV decisions as well when I don't have 30 buyins or whatever behind me. Thus the reiteration of not playing scared poker and being afraid of going bust.
  • what a blood bath... I have updated my signature to reflect this critical error in my logic.

Oh it's not this single isolated incident that has caused the uproar, it's the complete collection of any poker related decision you have ever posted here. You honestly seem to have learned nothing from all the time you've spent on here, and frankly, it's extremely dissappointing.
  • It's great that you had fun breaking your Vegas virginity, but if you're going for seconds, you'll want to play more when you're at your "A" game if you want to make money from tourists who play at "C" level as drunk, can't keep their eyes open or make big mistakes like your three posted hands. Vegas is where you can afford to take a rest or nap, since you can go back down anytime to find fish making big mistakes.

my only advice to people heading to Vegas for the first time is to pace yourself. I made a couple big mistakes on my trip probably due to lack of sleep and playing my sessions too long into the night.

I have played with many people on this forum that are donkeys and think they are agressive geniuses.
    Lets just enjoy the story.
Thanks JAH. I bumbed into Chris at the G2E show in Las Vegas a few years ago. Wired a little differently was my opinion.

it doesn't bother me in the least to be honest; I have history with most of these clowns and whenever they get a chance to gang bang me, they make the most of it. Everything has to be taken into context which I don't think they realize. True I could have played these hands a little differently but I still ended the session with a good profit and got to mix it up with a former world champion and well known pro.

Maybe you should think about your game and try to improve instead of posting hands where you make the same mistakes over and over again. I apologize if these hands were taken out of context, you did not mention at any time that there was a 10k jackpot for the person who misplayed the most hands to the greatest degree. I'm glad you ended the session with a good profit -- short-term results are the best way to gauge your play.

unfortunately it was not a very profitable trip to say the least

so this was one of your better sessions of the trip?
