  • You found me out... lol, believe there were 125 entries today. I finished 25th, Sandy was there and was somewhere around 40-50 I believe... Paid $3400. for 1st..... Couldn't get anything going today, got to about twice starting stack at my peak.... As understand it the league will be moving to Bellwood next season, which is quite a bit closer for you Guelph and Ktch/Wloo folks...
  • Hey folks, I went to this tourny for first time Sunday, as others have stated was well run. I'll be sure to make it out when they start up again in September. Unfortunatley I went out early, kept running into big pairs, but as they say "that's poker".

Bummer, was hoping there was something before September. A buddy of mine and I are looking for a tournament to attend but can't seem to find much.

I will be coming out to this tourny, but I thought they were 40 minute blinds? At least that is what is stated on their website.

You are correct, I just "assumed" they would be the same length as the regular league games... That's tremendous, with a patience factor of 18.5 this may be the best value tournament in this area ever....

Thumbs up, thanks for passing this on compuease!
  • By the time this WSOP practice tournament is over, Sirus and I will be eligible for the WSOP SENIORS Event! ;) Two thumbs up.

Not sure about Sirus but aren't you already eligible? :)

Just got back from this one. A few less players (81) than were expected but perhaps with it being a holiday weekend it should have been expected. Lots of play with the entire tournament playing to the finish in 10 hrs 45 min. A great buffet meal was enjoyed by all, the cash games (3) went quite a while, in fact 1 table was still going when I left. Oh yea, forgot, I finished 2nd for $1520. nice payday, now should I spend it on the WSOP seniors event June 22nd or not.... hmmm.....
  • Wow! Great finish Compuease! Very nice payday indeed. Youv'e got time to decide what to do with your winnings. Or just say to hell with it and blow the cash quickly on fun stuff.
  • Nice cash, Jeff. Take your time deciding what to do, I here Denny's offers a good senior's menu while you think it over . . . :D

    Well thanks.. Hookers and blow?

Seriously though, that was a tough final table... mostly older who had lots of playing experience, I think 5 of the final 9 and 3 of final 4 would qualify for the WSOP seniors event and that's what I'm think of doing with my winnings... Now to try and find a reasonable flight....
  • Well, hookers and blow could be an option. Just check with your significant other first. Could hasten a spontaneous non-anaesthetic amputation of certain nether region appendages.

As we both know, you're in the right place for info gathering about cheap flights/hotel deals. So just sit back in that easy/rocking chair and wait for the advice to come flowing in like lactose free milk substitute over bran flakes.
  • lol, well I might have been there a time or two before, so I have an idea where to look... Actually Southwest out of Buffalo at $310. and Spirit out of Detroit at $250. are the frontrunners at the moment. Both are more than I have paid in the last 4-5 years.. No real deals currently...
  • Congrats. While the small restricted events such as the Seniors and Casino Employees Events are the least -EV WSOP events for Canadians to buy into, I would personally use that money to buy into a CPT, WPT NAPC, EPT, LAPT, WPS or any other tax-free tournament outside of the US. Good luck!

Well I would hardly call the Seniors event small, last years had 2200 or so entries.. And I may not have that many more chances to play in the WSOP. I understand your feelings about the withholding taxes but my primary purpose is not to get rich like some of you young kids. I actually play for the enjoyment and challenge, and kick some butt as well... lol.. Now of course if I wasn't at least covering my costs I wouldn't play as much but I've gotten to the point now where I really feel I'm a contender in any tournament I play... So actually, all things considered, I don't think it's -ev for me to play tournament poker in the US at all...
By the way, how did you do in Bellwood cash game?
