I definitely want to play in one of these tournaments. I most likely will not be able to make the Aug. 9th tournament though.
I was playing the satellites at Casino Niagara this past weekend and I would not recommend them. After controlling the table the entire tournament while being the chip leader, I was sucked out by weak hands time and time again landing me in third.
I know it is part of poker, but I would rather play against skilled players.
I will keep checking for additional tournaments that will be ran.

Welcome to the forum.
It's the fast structure that makes even skilled players have to push/call with weak holdings and try and suck out.

What satty were you playing?
It was the $70 tournaments. Those were the only ones they were running...and even for that amount, they had to practically beg people to join the table to have 10 people at the table. I attempted it a second time...raised one hand, lost it on a suck out..again, and before I knew it, the next hand I played I was pot committed and got out beat by a higher pocket pair then the one I had. I might as well have played the slot machine and hoped to get lucky! Lol.
*******************edited because I can't stand the idea of wasting time fighting with you, your recollection is entirely false and you are trolling.
Kristy, I have better things to do with my time than troll you. It was a legitimate question trying to understand your rationale to call. Never mind then. Nice third place finish in any case.
Unfortunately, you and The_Game are the only forumers so far that have confirmed for Saturday. I may be too busy to follow up with enough non-forumers to have a full table this Saturday, so would playing for a $460 WPT satellite voucher also be OK in case we don't get enough players willing to pay $160 each for a ~$2K prize pool? For the dozen other forumers who claimed they want to play a rake-free satellite, please state the dates or days of the week that you are willing to commit so that my prediction of a satellite participant making it to the money at the WPT NAPC can come true.
As you are painfully aware of, it is very difficult to get enough players to show up and play any rake-free satellite. If several people impose conditions that they'll only play if the buy-in is at least $200 with no shared winnings while several others say that they'll only play if it's less than $100 and a lower Skill Level that will finish in less than four hours, then there will be no more rake-free satellites to go to and they will all have to drive to the casino to play a high-raked crapshoot.
Anyway, the second (of what will hopefully be a weekly) WPT rake-free satellite is on for this Saturday, 6 PM at Woodbridge. While using the identical WPT Step Q structure maximizes your EV and chances of winning at Fallsview, due to several requests, the starting chips has been doubled to 6,000! It will have the highest possible Skill Level of 6, with 30-minute blinds for the first six levels, then 20-minute blinds starting with the seventh level when it will be down to a few players.
I will send an email including new directions to SteveKerr, The_Game and PIRANHA. If anybody else wants to play on Saturday, please contact me ASAP.
Participating in any rake-free satellite is a no-brainer, but unfortunately, I am busy working on Thursday night. I was at Fallsview this weekend having dinner with friends and I found out that five of us had signed up for the raked satellites. I tried to educate them about the stupidity of playing in a raked satellite when the five of us should have first organized our own satellite, and after they all quickly busted out of their turbo satellites (except me), I may be able to get them to go with me to the next rake-free satellite.
So I guess you caught a little sleep in your car Sunday morning after your 17 hour stint?
I played only an hour or so at the $2-$5 table. My three week long stint of card vommit maintained its trend. I also made two mistakes that cost me most of my chips and decided Sunday was not my day. One was an under raise after the turn when I should have shoved letting the villan catch his 2nd pair on the river. The other was a call istead of repop preflop with AK offsuit when 4 people were in for $20 and I was last to act. The flop came A 4 5 and I pushed only to get called by original preflop raiser who had 4 5 spades. In calling he told me he put me on the flush draw (which I was hoping someone would think)... I was hoping to then see him turn over A Q but was wrong.
Good thing I made $400 at roullette the previous night.
Sundowners was -ev again though... but still worth it.
This will be single table tourney 10 players $ 124.00 no rake.
We are playing for the Fallswiew step Q ( $ 1240.00) satellite. This will be winner take all.
If people want an extra $16.00 to the $124.00 and we pay second place.
I would like to play the step Q structure, but make it 20 minute blinds, as I would like to start at 7-7:30 and be finished by 11-11:30. Start with 3K in chips.
I live near Meadowvale and Ellesmere. And would like to have the first game Thursday the 28Th!

Yes most probably I can play this game.
