A guy I play regularly with told me the last time he was at Fallsview (late May) the dealers were saying that they were going to close the poker room at Fallsview and strictly stay with the poker room at the old casino.
He plays pretty often at Fallsview in the 2-5 and 5-5 games usually during the middle of the week.
It seems possible because of them trying to get the dealers to move from full-time to part-time and stopping the WPT satellites.
I have been playing at least once a week at Fallsview, and that rumour sounds sillier that the constant rumour I hear from poker players wishfully saying that a poker room will soon open up at Woodbine. :bs: I see up to 160 players plus a long waiting list at the Fallsview poker room during the busy times of the week, generating over $2,000 PER HOUR in fees, tips, drinks, food, etc!
The poker room will have even longer waiting lists until October, with many wealthy whales getting frustrated that there are not more poker tables during the $10K event, when Barry Greenstein and other pros will be battling for $100,000+ pots! Even if a Fallsview bean-counter undervalues the indirect revenue generation of poker players, the casino will keep a full slate of games and amenities available to its customers.

I'm sayin' talk is cheap, and people do a lot of it. Some know what's going on, most don't. Unless you "heard" something from a suit, I'd dismiss it as some guy who enjoys the sound of his own voice.

True...but when the suits reply is "Is this what is referred to as a "troll" post?" it makes you wonder?
I am not one to go around claiming this is real, so that is why I asked straight out to see if this is true.
From what i heard all weekend after starting this chat up on numerous tables, the WPT has been suspended because of the lack of TV coverage. Looks like WPTE has decided that unless they have TV coverage they are not doing events.
Swing and a miss...but you may have caught enough of it to tip it foul and not strike out.
Were you working this weekend? If so where were you around, the poker room or pit? I was going to ask for you to introduce myself but I was only there a total of 8 hours...Sat/Sun (didn't need to grind for long as the deck hit me hard quick on both days)
Unfortunately, this is the best I can do. But, I am able to tell you when people are guessing incorrectly as I do not want erroneous information being passed around.
This sounds like a challenge... I say we continue to post all possible scenarios until 13cards has dismissed all but one.
Fallsview halted everything WPT related until a TV deal is completed, and they are not alone on the tour. As of the moment, WPT has no deals in place to air anywhere in the world. As previously stated, hosting a WPT event is not a revenue generator, casinos sign up simply to use the WPT as a Marketing tool. As a loss-leader it can work over time to get name familiarity (most of us would not have heard of Bay 101, Tunica, etc), but it takes a tremendous number of hours from various departments to pull off an event of that magnitude - something few deem worthwhile. The Fallsview WPT events were the most expensive events ever held there (including concerts, VIP dinners, New Years Eve, etc), most gaming executives view money better spent elsewhere when working on a budget. Right or wrong, it sucks for those that love poker.
Here is my 2¢ guess. WPT will not get a TV deal to film the Fallsview and other Season 7 events which already starts this week at Bellagio, and will be in danger of bankruptcy. Fallsview bean-counters who undervalue the benefits of a $10K poker event won't bother pursuing a TV/marketing partnership with EPT, CPT or PokerStars and will just cancel the event. When satellite winners like me can redeem our vouchers, please post and I will carpool to Fallsview Casino.

Good times.
Where did you hear this?

hey 13cards,
Any current news on whats happening with this year's WPT NAPC event?
Yeah...I come on-line with my 1500 post to troll.
So I see the question has not been answered. A simple no or no reply would be good.
So to re-cap....Any truth to the rumour that Fallsview is closing their Poker Room?
Any truth to the rumour that you started this rumour?
No....see how easy it is to reply.
I am not starting rumours but trying to find out the truth behind the situation.
I am not saying " I heard the poker room is closing". I am saying "I heard a rumour that the poker room is closing".
This was brought up in the poker game and people were discussing it at length.
I just wanted to see if it was true.

Do you have some more info?
Stop with the riddles, can you be straight up and just give us an answer?!?!?
Please keep us updated.

So.... I say let the guessing begin.
