congrats! thats for making my dull week somewhat exciting!

I agree, you did us proud!
  • I wish for Mike's sake that more of the top spots paid better - say the final three tables. Although the dollar amount is nice, he made a little more than 6 times his buy in after playing five grueling days of poker and making the final table.

BTW, a WPT final table is only 6.....that said, he did make the final table in my view.

WPT TV final table is 6. He still made the final table but not the TV final table.

I was sitting with Freddy D at Niagara and he bet someone 20K that they would not make a WPT final table. The WPT official was there and confirmed that the official table was 6.

Hmmmmm...but they do consolidate the final 10 players on to 1 table...what gives? Weird way to define it IMO but whatever...

I guess they use a different table for the final 6. So that would make the table of 7-10 the "second last table" lol. Mike still scored a "final table" imo.

I agree that the payouts should be a bit more graduated, but WPT isn't going to do that, it would take away from their marketing ability to say "Win millions!" blah blah blah. Watts still profitted $10,000 per day of grueling poker. Not bad.

The WPT does NOT run poker tournaments. The WPT films poker tournaments to air on TV and make DVDs. The WPT does NOT decide payout schedules. The WPT does NOT have poker rules.

If you would like more first-hand information, please feel free to PM me.
  • sooooooooooooooo are you cheering for me now????:) :)

Sorry I have to cheer against you Phil.. Normally I pull for you but that's one of our own clawing his way against you.
  • wow Ivey dominated the final table
  • In Sir Watts case - finishing 10th and cashing. Do they still deduct 30% from you withholding tax?

Obviously if you won the 1.5 mil they'd do the deduction but how about on smaller cashes like mike's case?

For the US government, I think a smaller cash would be $400. They wouldn't consider $60 000 small cash.
  • And all he would have to do to get most of that back is file an American Income Tax claim next year...he should a good chunk of what they withhold back.

When I was in Vegas the TD at Ceasers said that anything over 5K would be taxed. It used to be as low as $600.
