Players buying in directly to the UPC pay $2,000 plus an "administration fee" (aka rake) of $125 or $100 if you are a Winners' Circle member. So the value of a seat is at least $2,100.
Casino Brantford undervalues the seat prizes by not including the fee, so the satellites actually have an overlay or negative rake! For example, in the satellite I won, the 29 players paid a total of $4,495, but the prize pool was actually worth $4,550. Even an average player will have +EV to play the satellite! It seems that the casino treats their tournaments as a promotion or customer appreciation, instead of an extra profit generator.
(n) 1. A special chip given to the winner of a satellite tournament, to be used as a complete or partial entry or buy-in to a larger tournament. The chip can be used only to buy in to a tournament, but can be sold to another player for this purpose. For example, a supersatellite at the World Series of Poker might award three lammers each worth $500. The winner might use those three lammers to buy in to a $1500 tournament, or collect two more and use them for a $2500 tournament. The term originally came from the chip-shaped markers used in other table games, such as craps, where they might indicate, for example, "on" or "off." The name probably came from these chips being made of laminated plastic. 2. The marker chip that a chip runner (or other floor person) leaves in the tray of a house dealer at a poker table when taking cash out of the dealer's tray, for which the runner will return with chips.
In the second satellite I won, the average was almost 5 rebuys. I did 7 rebuys. A few players do more than 10 rebuys while a few quit during the rebuy period.
Congratulations to The_Game for winning a $2,000+100 seat on only his second try. If anybody wants to sell a $1K coin for October 2, please contact me.

After I registered for my fourth seat, I was told that there were only around five seats left for the $500+40 tournament this Monday and around fifteen seats left for the $1,000+65 tournament.
Congratulations to The_Game again for winning his second $2,000+100 seat in a row last week. So by investing in only three $55 rebuy satellites, he won ~$4K!
There seems to be the fewest ever forum members playing in this Canadian Poker Tour event, but good luck to The_Game, Howard, Bobby, Animaux and her friend, Choron, Overseer, AllAces? and any other forumer, starting with the $50,000 tournament at 6 PM tonight.
Congratulations to forumer Animaux for making it to the money in last night's 100-person tournament! :wav:
Tonight's $1,000+65 tournament is also sold out, but there are still seats left for the $2,000+100 tournaments starting on Wednesday. If anybody has a $1K coin to sell, please let me know ASAP. If anybody collects casino card protectors or coins, PM me if you want one of my extra discs for free.
Well, if you're interested, I'll be at BCC today around 2-3pm, hopefully at a 10/20 or 20/40 game. I'll be in a navy blue T-shirt, red chaps sweatshirt/jacket & jeans.

not sure how people can afford to play 20/40 games? $60 every rotation... yikes...that's a day's pay for some people (after taxes, etc.).
