Only change I noticed from their Spring tournament is that the main event is now $2000 instead of $1500.
I'm surprised that the buy-in was increased to $2,000, since the $1,500 tournaments at the Brantford Spring Classic I played in did not sell out. Many Ontario players may be focused instead on the WPT tournament at Fallsview Casino in the same month.
Nevertheless, the best-value casino tournaments (Skill Level 6 ) and MTT satellites in Ontario are currently in Brantford. Assuming I am still eligible to play in Casino Brantford in October, I plan to play again in the MTT satellites and tournaments. Due to a lot of players last time defaulting on their small deposit for a seat reservation, you now have to deposit at least $500. I was told that the MTT satellites will not have a set 10 AM starting time like the last time, but may start later (or earlier) depending if there is enough interest.
Anybody interested in rake-free home game satellites for the $500 or other tournaments?
I am heading down tonight to play one of the S&G's and should be able to provide some additional information.
Hey Blondefish, any advice on playing the S&G structures in Brantford?
The MTTs are Sun - Thursday 10am
Get a decent hand, shove, and pray...
Honestly, you are better off playing their MTT satellites. Less of a crap-shoot.
Not much interest the s&G tonight, only 5 on the list.
Oh well, played some 2/5 and won $43 (my favourite calling stn was playing) in 1.5 hrs...lol
I'm going to try and make it down for the MTT on sunday.
Yes, I have advice on playing any tournaments with a crapshoot structure - DON'T!
Assuming that the single-table satellite structure is the same as the past two events, the Patience Factor is only 1.7, the Skill Level is 1, and the rake is as high as 12%. Crapshoots are best for unskilled players who just want to gamboool their money away.
Their multi-table rebuy satellites are much better with a Patience Factor of 5.7, an initial buy-in of only $50, and a total rake of only ~3%. Waltsfriend, The_Game, Animaux, Bobby and I all won main event seats through the MTT satellites, so I'm surprised few other forumers tried to win a seat.
Thanks
Alistair
So, unless I am too hung over from watching UFC and playing cards, I'm going to hit up Brantford on Sunday morning...
Alistair
sorry. already been answered. i just missed the post :P
Just a heads up for those who wanted to go and satellite into the ME.

I played a $110+admin fee ($10) sat. to the $1k event without knowing just how bad the structure is. I'm not sure if the $220 satellite has the same structure as the $110 satellite.
Anyway, here goes:
1) 10 players start with T1000
2) Levels are 15 minutes each
3) Blinds are 25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 200/400, 300/600, 400/800, 500/1000
4) Top place is a $1k lammer, 2nd place is $100 (covers most of buy-in)
RIDICULOUS!
There were 3 players eliminated in the first 5 hands of the satellite. I can't really blame the plays as one player was eliminated on the flop with TP2K vs. AA...another was JJ vs. AQ all-in PF, the 3rd wasn't a race/cold-deck, but just bad play.
I managed to steal some small pots without a flop and win a race situation with a huge overlay (e.g. 6 players, blinds are 100/200, I raise 700 UTG with 66, button with 850 goes all-in with AQo), an all-in situation where I am dominating, and a A2s vs 33 suckout (I was BB and had to call a desperate push by the button with a M of ~3).
So, it's heads up and the blinds are 200/400 and we each have ~5k in chips. If you make it this far, it's actually really decent, since there is some play in the HU match. My opponent didn't play aggressively enough in HU, so I chipped him away until I was a 3-1 favorite and managed to win a race with KJo vs 77.
If I knew how bad the structure was, I probably wouldn't have played...
I will probably try and qualify for the $2k event through the Monday MTTs.
Hmmm...I bet I've played with a bunch of the posters on this forum...I am a semi-regular at the $20/40 (usually coming 3-4x / month)...late 20's white male with glasses & an engineering ring. I usually play Sat/Sun afternoon/evening. I won the satellite on Sun, Aug. 26 around ~11pm...I'm interested in meeting some of you (but not THAT interested) and chatting about games/whatever. Maybe find out about a decent home-game in Mississauga...
That's brutal.
No skill needed.
Glad you lucked out.
Good Luck with the MTTs and in the 1K tourney
The best home game in Mississauga is hosted by The_Game. "Free food and drinks, big screen TV, Skill Level 6 blind structure" sounds like an advertisement for an upscale underground club, but it's actually 100% rake-free and legal. He might have a satellite for Brantford or WPT as soon as this weekend. Unfortunately for me, I probably can't make it as I will be busy at Western Fair Casino.
Anyway, good luck in the $1,000 event. That was the one that people such as Fallsview, Howard, my dealer mentor and I bought in for directly. I think it didn't end until 4 AM, so the three of us that made it to the final table were drained for our remaining tournaments in the week.
If you won half as many tournaments as seats, you would be laughing! Well done Buddy!
Oh nice. I think I may play on Sun. How many rebuys did you use (if any)? Do you happen to know the average number of rebuys? Any strategy suggestions for these rebuy tournaments (should I treat it like a no-rebuy tournament or be a bit more aggressive than usual)?
