  • thanks for the response, 13. nowhere is any of this explained and it was impossible to get that kind of info on saturday. at least people will know how it works.

no prob waiting for 3 hours. it would be nice if the guy could tell someone they had at least a half hour so they could go out for a smoke or grab something to eat and not worry about missing their spot because they did not respond within seconds of being called.

your man on the desk did confirm i had arrived on time but i guess he forgot to change my status because i magically disappeared shortly thereafter.

it was impossible to hear your name called there, at least on that night. and it was pretty hard to maintain a spot directly in front of the lists for the full wait time. had i known pagers were available i definitely would have requested one. personally, i don't think someone should be bumped if they miss hearing their name called. give the seat to the next on the list and give the top person at least 10 mins to reconfirm they are there, just in case they are in the bathroom...

it might be helpful if you could show the time the person at the bottom of the list registered. then you'd know you are further down on the list and can get a feel for how fast the line is moving.

just some ideas to make things better. you certainly don't have to improve things as there is no shortage of customers but it would be nice.
  • January 1st 2006 (yes one year ago today....)

Had my name on the waitlist for a limit table......"come back in an hour or so" said the man.

.....so I come back in an hour......."come back in an hour" said the man.

.....so I come back in an hour...."that limit is closed, I don't have that list anymore but I can put your name on another list if you want. The wait's about 2 hours."

....so I go out with my Wife for diner and we go home.....and I haven't been back to Fallsview since.

I was planning to come back for some of these tourneys. Please tell me that it has improved. Or that my experience was not the norm. If the guest services can only be guaranteed when the Casino isn't busy then why bother. Because that does seem to be the mentality.
  • hmm..

looks like this whole tourny thing is taking longer then expected...
  • whats the deal with Omaha on thursdays?
    PLO?
    LO8?
    what limits?

Omaha on Thursday at Fallsview has varied. It usually starts as Hi/Lo but sometimes drops the split (all depends on what the players want and can agree on). Almost always it has been 5-10 Limit, but sometimes switches to 3-6 or 10-20 but always Limit (thus far).

are the people who play generally fish? or do they really know what theyre doing?
  • Here's another constructive suggestion. What about having a WPT Boot Camp? If Commerce Casino, MGM Grand, Foxwoods, Grand Sierra, Borgata, Cherokee Casino, Atlantis Resort, etc. are good enough to have a WPT Boot Camp, then so should Canada.

I have more planned for 2007, including logo wear, a fan alley for picutres/autographs, book signings, etc.
  • WPT Boot Camp - Blondefish, thanks for the suggestion. I have been in contact with them since before our events in October, but weren't able to work one in for 2006. I'm hoping to have a Boot camp for 2007, but there are quite a few obstacles to clear. I'll keep you posted.

Daily Tournaments - Sorry. It's been a lot longer than what we anticipated. I don't have anymore answers than before to be honest, it's kind of out of our control.

Omaha - it has been going most Thursdays, mostly H/L. I would say that half of the players in the game are skilled in Omaha, so there is money to be made.

Waiting board - No system is perfect, but it is better than what we had before and is much more efficient. 13Cards explained the process perfectly in the previous post.

Haddon - I would be more than happy to meet with you on your next visit, please introduce yourself. One of the reasons I chose to post in this forum is because it is not full of people that post trash, and the vast majority of posters are mature. Please keep it that way. Once again, I expect criticism, we do make mistakes, I'm here to get feedback and correct. If you are just going to slam the entire operation, our people, other posters who post with maturity, without offering anything constructive, then simply don't post. There are many other forums that you would seem to have more enjoyment participating in. It's not a matter of "corporate" and not needing your business, if that was the case, I wouldn't be here, I wouldn't bother. You spent six months in Vegas, you should have many constructive, mature ideas.
  • While blunt, I thought most of what Haddon had to say needs to be said. I wouldn't say it's limited to Fallsview either. I find, generally, at the Canadian Casinos within 2 hours of Toronto, that about 25% of the employees are customer oriented, friendly and helpful, and take the attitude that they are there to serve us, the clients (albeit degenerate gamblers that we are), who are, after all, their ultimate employers, as both clients and taxpayers, as well. In fact, some amongst those 25% are truly wonderful people who really care about their jobs and the people they serve.

Generally, the other roughly 75% are either condesending, patronising, humourless, aloof and have delusions of grandeur as to their importance in society, or, are just dumb, inefficient, lazy, and/or rude.

I hope that criticism is mature enough. As for constructive ideas, I'd suggest that those 75% take a field trip south of the border, where the ratio of adept to inept is about reversed (75/25). I think part of this is due to private ownership instead of public. Part is due to greater competition. And as far as dealers go, part is due to keeping their own tips instead of pooling and having a greater percentage of their income coming from those tips vs. salary.

I'd then take what you learn there, which is esentially that the customer is ALWAYS right, even when the customer is a degenerate gambler and couldn't be more wrong (but usually is right even though you don't realize it or don't care), and implement it into how you conduct yourselves while at work, on both a personal and business level. Haddon is right. You can do better.
  • I agree Mathers. I kept out of this even though I was with Pkrfce and Haddon that night-I thought they had made their points and I wasn't in a position to contribute further.

However reading 13cards' response leads me to believe that perhaps what they were attempting to say wasn't universally clear.

    13cards
Your response WAS patronising, I'm annoyed reading it. To state this succinctly..Your casino dropped the ball, the 'service' was absurd and anything less than an outright apology both for this half-assed attempt (particularly to Greg..who checked in and was STILL bumped off the list) as well as for your demeaning and unhelpful response is an OUTRAGE.
  • Well, Sounds like you guys got screwed over the night you went. So I'm not arguing with you here, but I've found the Fallsview staff good to deal with on my many visits. If I'm going to be playing on a Friday or Saturday night I arrive in the afternoon. I usually deal with 'day shift Dan'..he's simply a good guy.

Again, not disputing you guys ran into BS. But I appreciate Fallsview and 13 cards posting here and hope they continue to do so.
  • Hey Fallsview,

Can you post the regular SNG schedule for the week.

    Thanks!
  • Has anyone heard anything about whether this is taking place this year?
  • Re-Read the thread....

    Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays/Mondays
    $500 $1000 $200 $60

I believe the response was intended for IM-ON-TILT.

The Degree post was ignored, I guess. Go Fallsview! ;)

    /g2
  • At this time, NFCR will NOT be hosting the Degree Poker Championship this year. My contact at Casino Windsor informs me that they will NOT be this hosting the Degree Poker Championship this year.

Well, that sucks. I guess, if it is being held at all this year, it is probably out west. Too bad.

is it because of wpt's exclusivity clause?
  • We decided not to continue with the Degree Poker Championships for a number of reasons, but the World Poker Tour did not interfere contract wise. The Degree Poker Championships are excellent, I strongly support their initiatives and encourage you to do the same, however we have decided to focus solely on the World Poker Tour events.
  • Fallsview floor staff are generally good to me. The dealers are okay, but there are some dealers out there who could use improvement.

There's this one dealer though who left a bad taste in my mouth (no homo). He was probably off that day and played a cash game. He said all in and I called him. I asked him if he had a full house and he said yeah. I threw my cards on the table and said I was drawing dead. The dealer said that I gotta be careful not to muck my hand, but the good thing was that the cards were face up. However, the more important issue is that that guy lied and only had trips. Talk about lying and not having any integrity towards the game.
  • Talk about lying and not having any integrity towards the game.

Oldest angle-shoot in the game next to shoving an ace up your sleeve.

I hope you do lose pots in the future if you are so scared about just showing your two damn cards at showdown. You'll deserve it.

LMAO! You believed him?? Don't release your hand until you see you are beat.

Maybe I did deserve, but I called him so shouldn't he show his cards first? At the point of all in I don't think you should lie anyways.

I like to Lie when I bluff.

Casino staff are not allowed to play in the casino they work at on their day off.
  • Thats what i thought too! They can't play any games or tournaments at the casino they work for.
